Black Hawk's Treasure

Captain Ash

She spotted Rodger sitting on the docks and advanced on him. Standing over him, she noticed he was drunk on ale.

"Mr Flint, I would like to know about the crow's nest from your own lips." She stood demanding and waiting for answers she was certain were there.

Rodger Flint

Rodger looked up, red-eyed, at his new captain.

"What is it ye wannna know?"

Even drunk and morose, he tried to maintain some sort of gentelman's respect for Krysta.

Ashley

She narrowed her eyes a little and then sighed heavily.

"I already know what happened up there. All I want to know is why you did it? For love? Attraction? Why would you have sex with a taken woman? That is what I want to know Flint. Not details, have those." She crossed her arms, her idea of his loyalty slowly dwindling to nothing but a figment of his imagination.

Surely a loyal man, even a respectable one would not twaddle with the captain's woman! Course they weren't married and would never be married if she had any say in this.

"I want to know because Thomas means alot to me, and all I seek is the truth."

Rodger Flint

He looked down at the water moving below him.

"You're a captain. You have a crew. Do you know what it is to live a life alone? To know only clients and enemies? To live your entire life never meeting anyone except those who want to exploit you or kill you? If you did, then you know why I did what I did. At the time I did not know she had a man, but, in all honesty, I don't know if it would have changed things."

He looked up at her, "If you want me out of your crew, then say so..."

Captain Ash

"I see.. And I know what you mean. So.. you did it out of feelings." She rocked on her heels a moment, her choices here rather hard to make.

"I do not want you off my crew Flint, but I do warn you not to lay a finger on the boy. Respect at all times fellow crew mates and never burn bridges." She gave him a little smile of reassurance.

"The sloop there is our new baby, go ahead and get on deck, find yourself a room and make yourself at home. We'll sail with the morning tide, provided all goes well. And thank you for your honesty, its admirable." She had little else to say, now her mind was torn between what was right and what was wrong to do.
She looked over at the War Hammer, longing in her eyes. She wanted to barge in there and annouce to everyone what kind of woman Krysta was, but didn't that make her petty?

All's fair in love and war, so they say.. but is it?

And what of Krysta? She who thought she was so much better than her. Miss perfect, caring, doting Krysta. It was a laugh! If it didn't make her stomach churn in anger, she'd probably be laughing. Now how to use this information wisely? If at all? Mayhap she should just offer, again, in the morning Thomas cut of the gold for his aid..

She moved slowly to the sloop and across the plank. She'd think about it, by morning she'd know what to do with Krysta and Thomas.

Rodger Flint

Rodger looked blearily over at the sloop. "Ours? What happened to the plan to steal it?" He laughed a little self-depricatingly, "Did I drink my way through it?"

He stood up and grabbed his seabag.

'Salty Dan' Moore

He looked down at the coin in his fingers as he turned it, rubbing his thumb across it as he let everything go on around him. It's not that he didn't care, but he was well on his way to drunk and thinking hard about the Mystique.

He glanced up. "Yes. We'll be needin' help. Especially if ya plan on capturin' her. Which brings up the question of what shape she's ta be in if we get her?"

Krysta ~

Stayed in the room with Thomas for a few moments, covering him with a blanket and watched him as he fell to sleep. My thoughts about us were burning deeply inside of me. I loved him, but at times I had to wonder if he loved me back. All these years, time after time, I would be right here by his side making sure he got to bed safetly because she drove him to drink. This was just another night.

Sure he promised to never hurt me, little did he know he has. When I needed him most, he was with her and had me watch over the scavenger, Rodger. I knew Thomas still loved her, and I knew that will never go away. Least I got rid of the scavenger, Thomas will never get rid of Ash. Been to long.

Walked out finally deep in thoughts. I knew a few things about Vallen, knew that him and Sophie were together. Knew Sophie as well. Sophie was controling, even growing up, it was Sophies' way or get punished till it became her way. I had always been jealous of Ash, more ways than one. Everything was always about her, there wasn't a day that went by that someone would speak of her name. Whether it was good, sweet little Ash. Or something ill spoken, it was her name none the less. Now this.

Thought about how things were growing up, why I had run away. Always wondered what a life without Ash would be like, sadly I had to fall in love with the one that loved her then when I met him, loves her now despite everything that has happened. That is something I can not change. Reason I had ran away was because I had to get away from Sophie mostly. She didn't really want me around, and now those same feelings are coming back. Granted Thomas didn't abuse me like she did, but since Ash came back into his life. That feeling of not being wanted is fresh, like a scar that's been reopened.

Came across the tavern I knew all too well. Dragons Drool was a frind of my brothers, the owner of this place knew everything and anything from just about any of the lands here.

"Hey Krysta, long time since I've seen you in these parts."

Matt spoke a little too cheery for my mood, and he saw it. Saw that there was much on my mind.

"Whats wrong m'sweet little Krys, I've never seen you look quite like this before."

It didn't take me long to wrap my arms around him and start crying. Felt so good to just cry, and have someone I knew well be there for me.

"It's all wrong. Everything is just all wrong. Am I so stupid for falling in love with someone who doesn't love me? He claims he does, but his actions speak differently. Then she came back. All I want is to get her out of my life."

He knew who I was speaking about, knew both people of which I speak of. The one I was in love with, and the she that has returned.

"Why can't she just stop haunting me. Now she wants Thomas to help get that stupid ship back, Damn her for losing fathers ship. If he had given it to me, none of this would have happened. Why couldn't she stay gone."

Matt just listened and held me just as tight as I was onto him. The tears streaming freely. For once I seriously didn't give a damn who was looking.

"You know Krysta, you would have been better off with that fine ship. But you also know you have sold it to get what you wanted. You don't need anything that big, you like the speed of the ships, the sleekness of them. I've seen you dreaming over some the sleekest ships on the docks."

"I know I would have, but she allowed it to get stolen. Allowed an unknown crew just come aboard fathers ship, least of all Allowed Vallen to live. If she would have just killed him. Thomas would still have our ship, she would have that one."

"VALLEN!! That creep finally pulled it off huh.. interesting. Sophie and him have been bragging about stealing that ship for months now. Least I know of its been months. Could be longer, didn't say anything about distroying your ship though. I'm more than sorry to hear that."

Let go of him and sat down at the table next him after calming down a bit. Still wanted to cry, but he started to give me the special dragons drool, the awesome drink that made this tavern happen.

"Aye, he finally took it. Have no idea why or where he is going with it though. Neither does she."

"They were just here not long before you got here. Maybe a days worth I'd say. Sophie here longer, you know how she is when drunk. That whore talks about anything. She was rattin and raven about her and Vallen getting married, her revenge on the Ash. The whole works. Course there was no speak about you and Thomas."

He stopped a moment thinking about what else may have been said. He knew that it was Sophie that raised me, well if you want to call it being raised.

"Though, she did speak of another ship possibly getting in the way to take care of it. And Brians' ship was more than able to take care of something like what you and Thomas had. When Vallen came to pick her up, there was talk about another ship."

I was starting to feel the slight buz of the drink, it didn't take much of this stuff to get a person feeling good. Though, it wouldn't make me feel any better any time soon.

"Did they mention as to where they were headed?"

"Just to the next port to pick up a few more of his crew and to celebrate the victory of the ship. Something about the treasure, but Sophie took care of tha conversation very harshly, so wasn't able to get the details."

"Aye, that damn treasure. I'll be happy as hell when we find it. And I'll laugh my head off, or laugh myself to death if there's nothing there."

Already started to laugh a little at the thought. All this trouble for nothing.

"Well, suppose that doesn't matter now. I'm debating if should help sis out with finding that stupid ship, or just let her dwell on things."

"She may not believe you, but I woul at least tell her where Vallen is at, if they leave soon it won't be any trouble at all to get the ship back."

"Aye, I know. Though, this will not get her out of my life any faster. And, I may lose him. He promised he wouldn't hurt me, but he says it like that's the only reason. Just a promise, not out of love or anything. Recent event took place and a few things that were said has gotten me to wonder."

There was silence for a few moments, tears started up again unwillingly. Didn't want to do what I was about to do, but it had to be done. And even though I would have sold the ship, I didn't want to see it in the hands of a scumbag that couldn't even handle Sophie.

"Guess I should get going, for as much as I love this stuff. I seriously don't want to be drunk while talking to a sister I can't stand. I may do something that I may or may not regret."

Dry laugh at that comment, it was true though. I wouldn't regret doing whatever to her personally, but it would be on her ship and her people. That part I would regret.

"But, have plenty of it ready, I will need it later."

He laughed as I walked out and headed to the ship I was told Ash would be on. I didn't hesitate to walking right on board, had my daggers with me, and right now I pose no threat to anyone. The first crew men I saw I went to asking for Ash.

"I need to see Ash."

In the wee hours of the morning, Thomas finally woke up. After a good half hour of rummaging around, and cleaning himself up, he went above deck to look at their new supplies.
With all the money they had "gotten" the crew came through in top form as always. Barrels of food and water were below decks, in a kitchen furnished with enough plates, bowls, pots, pans and silverware to feed an army. Rope was piled up nearly to Thomas' head in the corner, like a den of vipers coiled and ready to strike. All new and strong as an ox. Thomas clapped at that.
The sail had been neatly folded up, and was absolutely stunning. The crew already began taking down the old tattered rags to put this one up, with the new rope. By mid-day they would be ready to set sail.
There was buckets upon buckets of tar, able to fix any leak on the old ship, and then another ton of new fresh lumber that would fix this piece of shit up better than it was before.
Thomas leaned against the side of the ship, imagining it all. The new wood, the fresh tar, the sails, the rope, the furnishings. All of it, in his mind's eye. This could be a decent ship, this could be a ship worthy of even Captain Thomas' efforts.
"Look lively there, I want to have this done and done. Come on now."
Krysta wasn't above deck. He searched for her below, but could not find her, awake or asleep with the rest of the crew. Finally, a watch from the night pulled him aside and told him.
"She left for the tavern in the middle of the night, sir."
"Ahhh, thank you."
The man hurried back to his duties.
The tavern. It wasn't like her to just leave off like that. Well, maybe she did have some business of her own on the island. She knew enough people here, especially in the tavern itself. He didn't fear her safety...
But still.
"Hey! Hey!! Even, raise that mast even or I'll skin every last one of your hides."
He gave a smile, standing up against the helm. Yes, indeed. This could be a shipe he'd learn to love.

Mia

Stepping between the approaching Krysta and the door below decks, I gave her a tight little smirk and shook my head.

"No." My hand shot up to stop her, my eyes threatening the consequences if she tried to pass by me.

"You are not announced nor expected, you wait here and I will get the Captain." Eyeing Preach and then Daniel, I moved below to hunt down the ever illusive Captain.

"CAP'N!" I called out searching until I found her in the hull of the ship.

"Well there you are. You have the first mate of the War Hammer above deck requesting an audience.." I smirked again.

"A what? Mia speak english." The captain seemed a little tired? "Didn't sleep cap'n?" I backed out of the room a little as Ashley went storming by me without a word.

"Well eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-xcuse me.." I muttered and turned to follow.

Ashley made it up on deck and stood a moment, her eyes raking over her competition with new light and a newer distaste.

"What do you want Krysta?" She sounded as pissy as she looked. Looking over to Danny and Preach, I slid around the pair to sit and watch with the rest of the crew.. This aughta get good..

"Any bets on who wins?" I muttered out the side of my mouth to Danny.

Krysta ~

"Look I don't want any trouble. Nor do I care if others are here. I have news you were asking about earlier. If you wish to hear of it then I will tell you what I know and found out."

I didn't move, nor acted threatening. I really wasn't in the mood to be here, nor was I in any mood to fight any of them.

"It is up to you if you desire to hear me out."

Ashley

She eyed Krysta over and then shook her head, "Yes, I would, thank you." She never thought for a second she would be thanking this woman for providing information. But her sources were few and far between, if Krysta knew something helpful, then she'd listen.

She could hear Thomas barking orders and glanced at the War Hammer. She needed to speak with him and soon, before he sailed off. Krysta said nothing last night, so why now did she speak? I noticed Flint hadn't come up yet, did she even know he was here? She studied Krysta closely and wondered over Ulterior motives and what they could possibly be? Other than Thomas of course, but that was enough she was certain to push Krysta to coming here.. Protecting her interests and making sure Ash vanished.

"Have a seat if you like, Im interested in knowing where to find Vallen or why he set after my ship... do you know anything or hear anything?" She tensed a little, anxious but also dreading the information.. Possibly it was nothing and against her hopes would be dashed into ashes.

Krysta ~

"No I don't wish to sit. If it means well I don't trust any of you. Your probly wondering why I'm here, part of it has to do with Thomas, but more so, the reasons are mine. He doesn't even know I am here."

Didn't sit, though I did take a slight step forward. There were still alot of emotion heavily in my eyes, that much was noticable.

"Anyway, It is to my understanding that Sophie has this all planned out. If it wasn't for her, Vallen most likely would not have done anything. You shall find him at the next port, if you leave now, you will have no trouble catching .........."

Paused for a moment, wanting to say our fathers ship, but she didn't know me as her sister, and it is best to leave like that.

"Getting your ship back....It is Sophie you need to worry about, not Vallen.... I must go now."

And with tha said, I turned and started to leave.

Ashley

"Who in the hell is Sophie?" She rose from her seat and followed Krysta off the sloop to the dock.

"And how long have you known about this? More importantly.. Oh hell. Next port? Well I will accompany you, I have a proposition for Thomas. You can tell me along the way." She started off expecting Krysta to be a good girl and follow.

Her temper was sparking again, anger boiling up to the surface.. How long indeed did Krysta have an idea Vallen and this mysterious Sophie were planning this?

"Well? Hurry it up, haven't got all day." She marched down the dock, about to storm right in Krysta's face what she knew, but she would play that hand later, for now She needed to speak with Thomas and get going.

"Who the hell is Sophie and why should I worry over this woman?" Her mind said nothing of a new pirate in the area.. so who was it?

"STOP! If you wish to know about Sophie so damn bad, you will not rush to Thomas. I am so very surprised you haven't heard of her.... Well, maybe not that surprised."

I stopped in my tracks, my own anger rising on how fast she HAD to speak to Thomas, again. She wasn't thinking right, course when did she ever.

"You need to calm down please. I only recently found out about Vallen and his plans. But Sophie...."

Lowered my head, really not wanting to talk about this. Least of all with Ash herself in this situation of all things.

"Sophie is my mother, well if you want to call her t hat. She's a very controling woman. Has a way to make the strongest man cry and to his knees. She is also your aunt and holds a very huge hatred for you."

"You don't have to believe me, that is up to you. For you'll find out soon enough. Among other things that will not please you. If you wish I can tell you, but I know for a fact you will not believe it coming from me."

Waited in anger for her response, almost wondering why she had to talk to Thomas, after last night I was hopeing she had gotten the hint that he wouldn't help her. But then again he was drunk to.

"What difference does it make who she is anyway. All that matters is that is who Vallen is, not really working for, but doing all these things for. They are also going after the treasure we all seek. She is a very dangerous woman, if things don't go her way. She makes them."

I still didn't move. No-one needed to hear this, least of all Thomas. And if she decided she wanted to hear more, she will have to stay.

Ashley

"STOP! If you wish to know about Sophie so damn bad, you will not rush to Thomas. I am so very surprised you haven't heard of her.... Well, maybe not that surprised."

She swung around, hands on her hips and glaring right back at the snot.

"And who are you to tell me what to do?" Her brow cocked with her sarcastick and cold demeanor.

"No, I do not know who Sophie is.." She interrupted with her ranting yet again.. This would definitely irritate Ash.

"You need to calm down please. I only recently found out about Vallen and his plans. But Sophie...." Krysta seemed to be hiding something, but this wasn't new.

"Go on.." She listened to Krysta's hastily explained words and snorted again.

"If I had an aunt to begin with I think I would know about it! Hell my father would have mentioned having a sibling!" she waved it off a moment, glaring harder.. But then a prickling of familiarity hit her. She knew the name Sophie, from some where?

"This is all Ludacris!" Turning, she began marching towards the War Hammer yet again, after a few strides she turned back around and moved in nose to nose with Krysta.

"You.... I learned something last night I believe Thomas has a right to know... BUT! Right now I need his aid to capture my ship without it fucking blowing up! Now, I am going to go and speak with Thomas about aiding me in this endeavor and if you know what is best for you my dear.. you will help me convince him. I don't know what games you play with Thomas, but I will not tollerate lies nor deceit for any reason. He would, no doubt, hate to learn his newest love interest is screwing a scavenger rat!" With that little warning she turned and marched off once more towards the ramp and the War Hammer.

Stopping at the bottom, she turned to Krysta and waited, "Are you coming?" She had to grant the girl one thing, she had balls! Daring ones... But Ash had something more important to get.. Her ship! It was her livelyhood.. Or perhaps it was the fact she wouldn't let some scum sucking bastard like Vallen take it!

Krysta ~

Her words were somewhat of a shock, to speak of me like that. Little does she know.

"I Don't play the games you play.. Si...... I only did what I did because he ...... As for me convincing him to help you. Why would all the sudden out of the blue would I have him help you? Yes you may have that bit of information, but don't you think he would question why all the sudden i'm trying to help the one I want to see out of my life? Think about Ash. He knows I dislike you, he won't know why I'm helping you all the sudden."

The anger was rising and falling inbetween fear and just killing her. There was so much I wanted to say, but this was indeed no time, nor the place.

"The reason you didn't know about Sophie was because of me, you weren't supose to know. No-one was supose to know. Brian kept me a secret all my life, left me with her. That's why you know nothing about her or me for that matter."

AShley

"He will help me for 80 percent of the gold, and that is reason enough to aid me..." She stopped a moment wondering whether or not she believed A word Krysta was spouting off?

"Knew what about you? Other than you claim to love one person then STAB them in the back..." Her hands folded but she held the hilt of her knife within her hand, waiting for Krysta to try something.

"I didn't stab anyone in the back. It may seem that way in more ways than one yes. There is so much you do not know Ash. Least of all how Thomas feels about..."

Fighting back the tears, never thought I would be confronting her like this, least of all tell this meaningless stuff. Well to her it is meaningless.

"What I mean about me is...... Brian .....is father as well...... that I know you will not believe, but I'm sure if you have the right people to find that stuff out, you will know it to be true. And you know what would mean."

Sat down on the ground, refusing to move with her like this. I was going to talk to Thomas anyway, but to have that kind of information come from would never be good.

"What exactly did the scavanger say? It may be Thomas' right for many reasons. But it is also my right to know what was said."

Was afraid of what was said, let alone of what exactly she would tell Thomas.

"I will do what I can to help you, but it has nothing to do with the info you hold over me. Thomas will surely care yes, but I know he doesn't......... Doesn't matter. I'll just do what can to have him help you for my own reasons. Mainly because I don't wish to see that ship in the hands of tha sea trash."

Still sat on the ground, mostly waiting for Ash to calm down some, didn't want her running to Thomas in anger like that, bad enough she did that to him ever since she came back.

Ashley

"WHAT?!" Ash sat down on the dock, hard. Landing on her ass she sat and stared at Krysta.

"F-father?........... Oh my god.... I dont know whether to slap you for that or believe it?"

She sat there stunned, completely at a loss as to what to say about that information....

"Proof, do you have proof? I mean... god." She was for once speechless.

"You can slap me all you want, but I can promise you'll feel one of my daggers slice the palm of the hand that does... As for proof. Nah, as I said.. I was kept a secret. All I know is everything revolved around you. It was as if I didn't exsist. The only people that know are my two brothers. Well, they are close enough to be brothers."

No matter how hard I faught the tears, they still slowly came.

"I don't know, only other person that obviously knows is Sophie, but since she's out to get you. Seriously doubt she'll tell you about me."

"I was supose to be unknown and those that knew of me, kept my life that way. I have no way of proving such things. Though I'm more than postive there would be some document somewhere, but as to where, I do not know."

Ashley

She sat there dumbfounded, completely dumbfounded by all of this.

"But.. Why wouldn't my father tell someone? My mother died when I was but three! What was the purpose of hiding you away?" She stared hard at Krysta, studying her features closely. Was this a ploy to stop her from telling Thomas the truth?

"Who was your mother?" She knew her and Krysta both grew up on Pirate Island, so surely her mother was some where on the island? Wasn't she? Or did Brian bring her home from a voyage somewhere and just ditch the infant? How cold could you be?!

"I don't know what to say, think or feel, not sure what to believe. You hate me enough to lie, hurt me.. Don't think I don't know this.. Let's go speak to Thomas about this gold and my ship...... I .. " She fell silent, standing up slowly. Suddenly she wanted to run away and never look back, but that wasn't possible..

An Aunt and a Sister all in the same day?!

This was alot to swallow, more than she felt capable of. She glanced at Krysta again, she never had family.. just a father who pushed her off.. Why wouldn't he do it to her too? Seemed reasonable to believe him capable of it.. After all he had done, the more she learned, the more she hated her father.

She headed up the walk way, looking for Thomas, her mood more sedate than ever thanks to the bomb Krysta just dropped on her.

"Thomas?" She called out for him then spotted him issueing orders. "Can I speak with you please?" She asked quietly

Sat there for a moment thinking of what could be proof enough for her.

"The tavern, that was given to me by him. That has to have his mark on it. I'll have to dig it out and see."

Stood up and went up with her, still a bit shaky about telling her all these things. It had to be hard for her to take in such a manner.

"Your right, I don't like you for more reasons than you know. But I have no reason to lie. Not even to my worse enemy would I lie. Keep secrets yes, but not lie. As for my mother, Sophie is the only mother I know. She wasn't much of a mother to say the least, but if I have another, I wouldn't know about her."

When we reached the top where Thomas was, I fell silent. Unsure of many things, now unsure of what Ashley is going to tell him about what she knows of me.

"I will leave you two alone, If you need me, you'll know where to find me."

Looked up towards Ash, the meaning was mostly to her. She wanted me to convince him, but I would give her the chance first. Even though she had me where she wanted me with him.

Rodger Flint

ooc: we're all on the new ship, right? does it have a name yet?

IC:

Rodger had passes out finally after 20 something hours awake. He woke up deep in the hold of the ship, rocked awake by the motion of the ship in the water as it lay at anchor.

He stood up and imediately wished he hadn't. The wave of nausea that swept over him had nothing to do with the rocking of the ship, and everything to do with 20 hours straight of drinking rum and feeling sorry for himself.

He rubbed a hand over his ragged chin. "I need a shave," he mumbled. There was time for that later, though. Right now he staggered out of the hold and nodded to Mia. He said something that sounded something like "morning," and continued on to the deck of his new home. As he leaned against the rail, he saw his current boss and his one-time lover arguing. They were too far away to be clearly heard, but at one point the phrase "scavenger rat" came up, uttered by Ash.

He half-smiled. Well...it didn't matter if the captain didn't like him. He only had to stay with this crew until he got the payoff. Then he could get the hell away from these people.

As lonely as his job was, there were times when it was worth it...

Thomas leaned against the railing at the top of the helm, a sly smile crossing his face as he eyed the two ladies. Something of a predator entered his eyes.
"Well, well, well, what brings you here?"
One look at both of them, and whatever smart remark he was about to say died on his lips. For a moment, he just watched as Krysta walked away from him. Why would she leave? He had seen so little of her lately.
Of course...
Ashley.
Why would Krysta stick around, every time Ashley came up to talk with him. She had been around his arm every since that first incident at the island.
No, that wasn't right, was it? He had done part of it too. He had kept her close, for personal reasons.
Was it personal?
A deep twinge pulled at his heart. All of this running around and spending time with Ashley, what would Krysta think. He would have to talk to her.
He gave a grunt at Ashley now, his interest now turning into almost distaste.
"I see you have your ship. Everything's in order for you then. You've spent the last three days wanting to get away from me, and yet, here you are. To what do I owe the pleasure?"
