Shawn Anderson sat, eyes closed, fingers pressed into his temples. The dull glow of his computer screen illuminated his face harshly, the numbers that hummed silently on the screen had been tormenting him for hours.
Shawn was a mid-level worker at the company, but he took pride in his work, and this didn't meet his standards. He combed a hand through his light brown hair, heaving a sigh and checking the data one last time. If it just didn't add up again he'd have to go see his "boss."
"Just doesn't make sense,"
His voice was soft, but clearly frustrated by his current situation. Needing a distraction for a few moments, he pushed away from the desk and stretched his 6'1 inch frame. He looked at the ceiling, enjoying the quiet. He might be the only one left on the floor, well, except for his "boss" Sylvie Carrow.
A surge of frustration pulsed through him at the thought of her. She made his life so difficult. Not directly, she was decent enough at her job, not a total bitch, and easy enough to work with. The problem was everyone assumed he answered to her. Technically that was true, but only for one project. Beyond that they were equals, or at least supposed to be. He'd been working harder than usual recently, her quality had been slacking.
A light seemed to go on in Shawn's mind, and he quickly tapped a few more keys. There, his hazel eyes lit up as he finally made sense of his issues. He'd done everything right, it was her that had screwed up. He printed out a copy of the pages so he could show her, then stood.
He slowed, this was a pretty big mistake. If he hadn't caught it, it was the kind of thing that could cost someone their job. He moved very slowly, the gears in his head turning as he walked to her station.
"Sylvie, you got a minute."
