Blind Date

Tim

I just stand there stunned in the middle of the dance floor as I watch Sandy take Kate away.

I can't take her to the Dinner!

Frantically, I look for Bob. Seeing him by the bar, I literally start pushing people out of the way to get to him.

"Hey there, Tim! What's up? You were looking good dancing with Kate out there just then."

He has a glass in his hand. Snatching it from him, I down it in one.

Yeuk! Neat whiskey!

Then taking a deep breath: "Bob! There's no way can I am taking her to the Dinner!"

"Why not? She's a great girl."

"What!? You seen how she behaves. Jehanox would sack me on the spot if I took her." Images flashes through my mind of me, in rags, queuing at the dole office.

"She'll be alright." he says, trying to assure me.

"No she won't!" I find myself getting hysterical.

Taking another deep breath: "Bob, we got to find a way for her not to come."

"It's a bit late now. Oh! Oh! Here she comes now." Bob replies...

Sandy tugged my arm...

and I followed her into the Ladies Room. She turned on me instantly, "What the hell do you think you're doing, Kate?"

"Oh lighten up, San. I'm just making the most of my 'date'. Remember the jerk I told you about the other day? The one in the accident and then in the supermarket?"

Sandy closed her eyes and shook her head. "Don't tell me. It was... "

I nodded my head. "And the jerk doesn't even recognize me. What the hell did you get me into here?"

"Even so, girlfriend" Sandy said brusquely. "It isn't like you to act so... um... slutty. It's only one date and it won't last forever."

I couldn't help rolling my eyes. "An hour with Tim is way too long. Shit, Sandy. He asked Bob if I was a hooker for crying out loud! Didn't you hear? Well, if he thinks I'm a hooker, then a hooker I shall be."

Looking at myself in the mirror, I quickly combed my hair back with my fingers. Looping my arm through my friend's, I led us back out onto the dance floor. "Don' t worry Sandy. I know how to behave when I have to. Now let's get another drink before I have to perform my wifely duties at the dinner."

I watch as Kate comes right up to me so she is pressing into me.

"Come on, Tom darling, buy you little missus another drink."

Tim!

Then she turns, rubbing her backside into my groin, before pulling me back to the bar.

"Another Canadian Club and 7 for me and a beer for my husband." she says to the bartender.

"Hey! I don't like beer!" I try to tell him but he has already gone.

While waiting for the drinks, I am still turning over in my mind how to get rid of this she-demon from hell (as I am rapidly starting to think of her as) when she butts into a conversation with two women standing beside her.

"Poor you." she says to the girls. "You should have married my husband here."

What?

"We have been married for five years and he still can't leave me alone."

Eh?

The two women turn to face Kate, glancing at me at the same time.

"Would you believe that he didn't want to take me to his office do tonight? No, he wanted to fuck my brains out again."

What is she saying?

I start blushing furiously as they listen to her open-mouthed. Glancing at me every few seconds.

"Sometimes, I have to lock myself in the bathroom, he's so horny all time."

I can't believe this!

Grabbing her by the arm, I pull her away. But not before she adds the last minute crack: "See what I tell you?"

I can still remember them looking at me, their mouths wide open.

Finding a safe corner, I turn round to her.

"Why did you say that?" I ask...

Chester, the Disco King

Sitting down with the rest of the band, resting between songs, I look over to see a sexy chick go over to the bar.

"Mmmm! Nice!"

"Just a moment, brothers. I'll be back." I tell the others as I get up and start to walk over.

Then I stop.

"She's got a damn boyfriend!"

Look a chump too.

I watch as the chick's bo' takes her off to a corner, arguing.

"Looks like a lovers' tiff. Maybe, ol' Chester can get some action after all."

"Why did you say that?"

"Why?" I ask in return. "Because I can. Pure and simple. I am your wife, aren't I Tim? We wouldn't want anyone to think you are not as studly as you let on. Would we? I'm just trying to spiff up your image for you. You know. So you can get a date on your own next time. Maybe even a real wife. Now all you have to do is come back here and look up one of those women I was bragging about you to."

Poor Tim (as I was finding myself thinking of him more and more often) didn't have a clue. He just shook his head. The poor bastard was in a panic thinking I was going to screw up his job thingie. The barmaid brought our drinks over and I took a sip of mine.

"That's another thing. You're really tossing those drinks back, Kate" he whined. "Don't you think you've had enough?"

"Lighten up, Tim. I know my limit," I said as a gust of wind caused me to tip into him. I mean it had to be a gust of wind, didn't it? I didn't lose my balance for no reason at all. Did I?

He stared into my eyes as he helped to steady me. "Yeah," he said. "You sure do know your limit. The sky's your limit, right?"

I chuckled and leaned against him. "Uh huh."

"Fuck. I'm a goner," Poor Tim muttered under his breath.

"What did you say?" I asked. "I didn't quite catch that."

Chester

Grinning to myself, I walk over and interrupt their little discussion.

"'Scuse me, lady. But is this guy hassling you?", I grin at her with my pearly whites.

Yeah! I like this girl.

"'Scuse me, lady. But is this guy hassling you?"

I look up at the tall grinning stranger. Oh brother, I think to myself. He looks like an ad for Pearl Drops wrapped in polyester. "Why as a matter of fact, he is bothering me a bit. My name's Kate," I say as I extend my hand. "Yours is?"

"Chester," he replied. God he was going to blind me with that smile of his. How 'bout you and me head over to the bar for a drink and maybe a dance or two?"

I slipped my arm through his and wiggled my fingers at Tim as we walked away.

"My his face is turning quite red," Chester commented. "Hope the bugger's okay."

As we walk to the bar...

"Hey! That's playing Saturday Night Fever! We have just got to dance to that, baby!" I say to my poached girl as I whisk her off to the dance floor.

"John Travolta! Just eat your heart out!" I grin as I start putting on the moves.

What!!!!???

Why is this happening to me?

I watch as the man with the chest wig takes Kate onto the dance floor.

Is he not actually doing that is he?

I just can't believe my eyes.

"Tim! What is going on?"

"Ask her!" I point Kate out to Bob and Sandy who are now standing next to me.

We all just stand there as my 'wife' and her new dancing partner literally take over the dance floor.

"Wow!" says Bob followed instantly by a cry of pain.

"Shouldn't we better get going?" Sandy asked.

"Okay!" I quickly say and turn to leave...

Wow, man!

I can't believe this sexy chick is like this! I think to myself as we throw ourselves around the dance floor.

By now the whole floor has stopped dancing and are watching us.

Oh man! This girl's hot!

Again she falls into my arms and I feel her body mold into mine.

Looking over her shoulder, I see her boyfriend walking out.

Heh! Heh! Great! She's all mine!

I lean and whisper in her ear.

"Do you want to go somewhere quiet?"

sandy:
The men had no idea what to do. I waltzed up to her.
"Kate, come on. We need to go" But big teeth whirled her away again.
Shrugging my shoulders at Tim, I spoke.
'Sorry. I have no idea what she is up too. but we cannot be late." Linking my arm through Bob's. "We will go on ahead, you grab a cab and bring her in a few minutes. Once we are gone she will realize this is serious. Okay? But we have to get there. We will make excuses for your lateness." Looking up at Bob.
"A client called last minute. That work? Good." Giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I am sorry, but she will calm down." and we left. Bob fuming the whole time.
"I am serious hon. She will calm down and be fine. Honest." Hoping I was telling the truth. Silent as he drove us onward to the dinner.

See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen...

"Wooo! That was FANTASTIC!" I gasp, falling into Chester's arms as everyone begins to applaud. His voice is deep and husky, he asks me whether I would like to go someplace quiet.

Before I can answer, Sandy is at my side but I miss what she is saying as Chester whirls me back out onto the dance floor. I move sinuously against his body, slipping my arms around his neck. "I am going somewhere quiet, Chester. And as much as I hate to break this up, I'm running late. I'll give you my number?"

Chester dipped me backwards and kissed me. Long and well. As he lifted me back up, I opened my eyes to see Tim standing there. His face was an even brighter shade of red than it was earlier. "Umm... hi... Tom. Erm... " I couldn't help wincing. "Tim! Yeah. That's it. Tim!"

"Much as I hate to ruin your fun, dear, we really have to be going. Bob and Sandy have gone on ahead. NOW, Kate."

Poor Tim grabbed my arm and led me toward the exit. "976-2223!" I called over my shoulder to the frantically scribbling Chester. "Call me!"

Juana Askew

Her name is Juana Askew. She is a recent graduate of Bebe's Hair, Nail and Toe School of Beauty. She goes to the Disco bar to just find the special someone.

Standing by the bar, this semi tall and ample petite figure sits and nurses her drink. She listens to the music as it blares. The disco beat has her chair dancing.
"So this is Blonde Date," she thinks to herself. Don't people with other color hair date too.

She takes another sip of her banana daquiri and waits to be asked to dance.

Chester

I'll call you, babe!

Folding the piece of paper into my pocket and immediately notice the dishy blonde at the bar sipping her drink.

Nice!

Straightening my jacket, I go over to her...

Tim

Why me? I think to myself as I storm out of the bar with her behind me, trying to keep up.

"Tom! I mean Tim! Wait for me!" she shouts out.

We are standing by the street when I stop and let her catch up.

"What is it all that about?" she asks.

What!?

Inside me something snaps.

"What is it all that about???? I'll tell you What is it all that about?. Not only do you act like a cheaper hooker and embarrass me in front of everyone. You then drink like a fish and come on to anything in trousers, including that reject from a crap disco movie!"

"Now thanks to you, I am going to be late for the most important dinner of the year! The first one where I have been asked to sit at the fucking table of the fucking Chairman of the fucking Goddamn company that I work for."

I can almost fill the steam coming out of my ears. Fuming, I walk away.

"Do you realise the importance of sitting at the Chairman's table?", I ask her walking back, "Only the difference to my fucking career which is most likely shot to Goddamn pieces thanks to you!"

I walk away only to return.

"What have I done to deserve this? I keep asking myself. And do you know what the answer is? `Nothing!' I have been a good son, a hard worker. I have always paid my taxes and bills on time. I'm even kind to animals! But I must have done something wrong to get you - the Pyscho-bitch from Hell!."

This time I'm sure I can see the steam coming out of my head.

"Look!" stopping in front of her. "Let's forget this whole thing! On my own, I may have a chance to redeem myself. But if I bring you along, God fucking knows what could happen!"

Images of the whole building coming crashing on top of me fills my head as I start backing away from her.

"No! I will go on my own and explain to the Chairman that my wife has caught the flu or something and couldn't come. You go back into that bar and shack up with `John Travoloti' or whatever his name is!"

I start hailing a cab.

"I would like to say it has been a pleasure meeting you but my mother taught me never to lie."

A yellow cab pulls up next to me and I get in, giving the driver my destination.

I don't even look back as we drive away...

Stranger

She turns and sees a tall, dark, stranger coming towards her at the bar. She smiles coyly and takes another sip of her drink.
She hopes he asks her to dance. "This music is groovy," she says to herself.
She watches as the couple she notices kick up a rug on the dance floor.
She takes another sip of her drink and smiles coyly again at the man standing next to her.
He winks and offers to buy her another drink.

"Oh Bartender," he says. " Give the lady another one of what she has."

She smiles and says "Thank you so much kind Sir."

Then they start to chat.

We start chatting.

It only takes a few sentences to realise that she is 'ditzy' but what the hey! She's a looker.

We talk for a little while. Finally...

"Look, Juana. I have this gig I have to go to now. How about coming along?"

Maybe I will get lucky with her tonight!

"Well if that doesn't beat all... "

The fresh air and Tim's speech sober me up a bit as I watch him drive away in the taxi. Oh no! He is not getting rid of me that easily. I wave down a cab and climb in, giving the driver directions to my house.

"I'll need you to wait for me. I'll be right down and then I have somewhere else to go," I tell him after giving him the directions to my place.

"It'll cost ya."

"Yeah. Yeah. What doesn't? Just drive."

"Just wait right here," I remind the cabbie as he pulls up at the curb. I needed to change my clothes and get to the dinner. There is no way that jerk is getting away with this.

Twenty minutes later I was back outside with an overnight bag in my hand. The cabbie did a double take when he saw me. "Just shut up and drive. I was sooo not in the mood to explain anything right now.

the cabbie...........

As an experienced cabbie, havinf been around the block a time or two, I have certainly seen my share of characters. But, this woman definitely took the cake.

She hopped in the cab just exuding her sexuality. Her figure was soooooooo accentuated by her attire that I immediately started to stir and come to attention.

As I admired her, she just glared at me and put me in my place and told me to drive on. But, I was so enthralled with her beauty that I hatched a plan.

As we drove toward her destination, I suddenly told her I was having engine trouble and would need to stop at the shop for a quickk repair. She was furious, which only excited me more, but I think she realized she had no choice. Soon we were at the shop and I asked her into my office to wait for a few moments while I took care of the repair.

Talk about shitty luck...

I couldn't believe my ears. On my way to wreak revenge on the 'Dateless Wonder' and I pick a cab with engine trouble!

I sat on the edge of the desk and crossed my legs, running my hands over my slacks. Tim didn't seem to like the way I looked in the red dress. Maybe he'd approve of my legs being completely covered?

That bastard! I couldn't believe he just left me like that. Well, revenge is sweet and I was planning on having mine.

"Hey," I called out to the cabbie. "What's your name anyhow? Is this going to take very long? I mean I have to get to this dinner thing."

I looked up as he approached. "By the way, my name's Kate. I could use a drink... Have anything around here?" Suddenly I had another scathingly brilliant idea. Maybe I could get this guy to help me out getting even with Tim.

one man's ceiling is another man's floor

"Well, Kate, I'm glad you're in such a great mood to be here. My name is Felix.....you know, the cabbie."

I wondered what she was thinking as she glared at me. Clearly there was more here than met the eye.

"I can offer you a beer, only domestic of course, or a glass of Ripple if you'd like".

I had the feeling these were both beneath her normal tastes, but I also thought there may be another side of her that could be very interesting.

Ripple in still water... When there is no pebble tossed... Nor wind to blow

The old Dead tune meandered lazily through my mind as I answered Felix. "Ripple... Gods I haven't had that in ages. Yeah. I'll have Ripple. Just because."

Felix took the bottle of Ripple out of the fridge in the corner and poured some into a paper cup for me. "Nothing but the best for you M'Lady," he said with a twinkle in his eye. I tilted my head to the side and took a good look at the cabbie.

He was good looking in a rugged sort of way. Almost a complete opposite of Tim, whose features were softer, finer. And it was obvious that he liked what he saw when he looked at me. Definitely a big difference between Felix and Tim. Hey! Why am I obsessing over the 'Dateless Wonder'? I want to teach him a lesson, but it isn't like he matters to me in any other way.

As I lifted my cup to my mouth, I was surprised to find that it was empty. I looked again. (Just to be sure, you know.) Oops! Guess I drank it. "Sooo... Felix, is it? Fill 'er up!" I was starting to get a buzz, but that was cool too. It had been far too long since I had let loose and had a good time.

Going to meet Gig

[SIZE=3/bold] I grab my coat and tell Chester that I would love to go with him to Gig. By the way who is Gig?

He just gives me a blank look, rolls his eyes and says "Let's go."

I say to him, "Chester, do I look okay?" I am wearing my pseudo authentic diamonaire and emeraldique with 14 carat quasi gold necklace and earring set. Also a velvet dress with a lace jacket.

I grab his arm as he escorts me out the door.

Tim

I'm feeling pretty guilty as I enter the Reagan suite which is holding the Dinner this year.

I should have at least got a her a taxi home!

Shown to the main table, I am greeted by Mr Jehanox. I also notice that Bob and Sandy are sitting the main Table too.

"Ah! Tom, my boy!" Mr Jehanox grins as he shakes me by the hand. "I'm glad that you managed to resolve the last minute crisis."

What?

Then I seem to recall that Sandy and Bob were going to make up some sort of excuse for why I am late.

"Hem! Yes, sir. It's Tim by the way."

"Yes, my boy. Of course it is." Then looking over my shoulder, he asks where my wife is.

"Erm! She's at her mother's who suddenly was taken ill last night. Regrettably she cannot make tonight." I feel myself flushing as Sandy looks at me with a piercing stare.

"Oh! I hope it's nothing serious."

"No, sir!"

"Good! Anyway, take a seat, Tom." indicating the chair next Sandy while he sits down next to a lovely blonde and starts talking to her.

Surely that isn't Mrs Jehanox? She's half his age!

"Where's Kate?" hisses Sandy.

Oh! Oh!

"Back at the bar!" I tell her.

"What!?" then lowering her voice. "You mean you left her there?"

"You didn't did you, Tim?" asks Bob.

Suddenly I am feeling even worst about leaving her.

"Erm! We realised that it wasn't working out and so decided to call it a day. " I lie to them.

I'll worry about the consequences tomorrow!

"Besides, she was getting okay with that guy she had met." I find myself saying and feeling bitter about it.

Why? I have just met the woman!

"As long as she's okay." says Sandy. "It's a shame though, she really is a nice person. *sigh!*"

It must be the full moon then! I think to myself as the waiter pours my glass of white wine...

the buzz continues

"So, Kate my lady, what else would you like for your pleasure?"

I could tell she was getting a buzz and I had the urge to take her to new heights. But, alas, I could tell she had other issues besides me on her mind. And being the basically honorable guy I am, (hehe), I had to ask her.....

"How can I help you out? The repairs are done and I am totally at your service.....your wish is my command."

Always hopeful, of course........
