Not once on Jan 6 did Trump call his Sec of Defense or his Attorney General
to try to end the insurrection. And we all know why — he instigated the attack,
and according to reports was cheering it on. Our witnesses confirmed this key
fact today.

Maloney had tried to frame Wednesday’s hearing as a forum to learn why “security
collapsed in the face of the mob, and reinforcements were delayed for hours as the
Capitol was overrun.” She excoriated the Justice Department and Pentagon for failing,
to date, to produce even “a single piece of paper” to any House committees investigating
why law enforcement was overwhelmed by the approximately 10,000 pro-Trump rioters
who gathered outside the Capitol, and the estimated 800 who stormed the building.

Two months later, he revealed he was leaving the GOP to become an independent.

National sheriffs’ group, opposed to federal laws on guns

April 28, 2016

Local police chiefs and sheriffs typically swear to enforce the laws of their state.
But a group called the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association
is intent on strictly enforcing their view of the U.S. Constitution and, according
to a long new piece by the Center for Public Integrity, “its ambition is to
encourage law enforcement officers to defy laws they decide themselves
are illegal.”

At the association’s 2014 convention, dozens of sheriffs signed a declaration
that they would not tolerate any federal agent who attempted to register
firearms, arrest someone or seize property in their counties without
their consent.

Twitter fights Justice Department subpoena over Rep. Nunes parody

- LA Times

Bill Barr's DOJ Secretly Tried to Unmask a Devin Nunes Parody

The Trump administration tried to force Twitter to unmask the user behind a parody account that mocked GOP congressman Devin Nunes.

Mr Trump’s Justice Department served the social media giant with a subpoena on 24 November 2020 demanding the name of the person behind the @NunesAlt account.

They also issued a gag order preventing the company from talking about the request, according to a newly unsealed court filing.

Mr Nunes was a vocal supporter of Mr Trump during his one term in the White House but was often a target of social media mockery.

A federal judge unsealed a motion from Twitter filed in March to quash the subpoena that was issued last November.

It's not about me or this silly account. It's about silencing all of us.

To be clear, this is not a statement from the Capitol Police as an organization,
but from members of the USCP. (In other words, anonymous.)

“The brave men and women of the USCP were subjected to hours and hours
of physical trauma which has led to months of mental anguish,” it reads.

They say “it is unconscionable to even think anyone could suggest, we need to
move forward and get over it.”

The unsigned missive was sent to the offices of every member of Congress
hours before the House was set to vote on legislation creating the panel.

A statement released Wednesday on Capitol Police letterhead, said to be authored
by multiple officers on the force, delivered a rare public rebuke of top Republicans
for opposing a proposed bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol riot
that injured scores on their force.

The department distanced itself from the statement, noting that it "has no way of
confirming it was even authored by USCP personnel. The U.S. Capitol Police
does NOT take positions on legislation."

The identity of the statement's author or authors remains unclear. It was distributed
by the office of Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), according to an email to House offices
obtained by POLITICO.

Grotesque monster, plays servant to grotesque monster -

Jason Miller, Trump aide, ordered to pay $42K over lawsuit

Trump spokesman Jason Miller was ordered to pay $42,000 to G/O Media
after his $100 million defamation suit was tossed in 2019, when a judge
found that the now-defunct website Splinter had accurately reported the
contents of court documents in his custody battle with former Trump
campaign operative A.J. Delgado.

"In an explosive new court filing, Delgado's legal team alleges that Miller —
prior to their own high-profile extramarital romance — carried out an affair
with a woman he met at an Orlando strip club," the website reported in 2018.
"Additionally, the court documents claim, when the woman found out she was
pregnant, Miller surreptitiously dosed her with an abortion pill without her
knowledge, leading, the woman claims, to the pregnancy's termination and
nearly her death."

https://www.rawstory.com/jason-miller-lawsuit/

Not administered in a reprocustive health clinic with a direct connection
to the local hopital, you say ?

This, from the GOP party that did its best to kill off all access to legal abortions,
reproductive health care, and removed birth control from the hands of women-
Because, according to formerly-Republicans and Ladies That Support Religious
Leaders That Sexually Assault, only rapists can judge if a woman needs birth
control.

OTOH, they are perfectly willing to let a woman die without it, even if she needs
it to save her life.

Florida governor signs bill barring social media companies
from blocking political candidates

May 24, 2021

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday that aims to punish social media
companies for their moderation decisions, a move that Silicon Valley immediately
criticized and likely sets the stage for potential legal challenges.

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

The law creates fines of $250,000 per day for banning candidates for statewide office,
and $25,000 for candidates for local office.

The law also includes provisions to protect people who aren’t running for office,
allowing them to bring lawsuits against the companies if they think they’re being
inconsistent about content decisions.*

*Since it is Trump Loyalist, Ron DeSantis taking this action, it is fairly certain
that DeSantis not defending Democrats from losing their accounts -

To prove this point:

DeSantis signed the bill at an event at Florida International University in Miami,
where he spoke from a lectern with the sign that said “Stop Big Tech Censorship.”
DeSantis was flanked by other Florida Republicans, as well as James O’Keefe,
the founder of Project Veritas -

Twitter earlier this year banned O’Keefe’s account, and he has sued the company for defamation.

James O'Keefe is a liar, a dirty tricks operative for hire , and he has been to jail
because he has no respect for the law, or other people's rights. He is quick to cry
about his rights. Siding with the side that pays him to produce propaganda, he
supports the Far Right Trump Loyalists in their efforts to take rights away from
others. On June 28th, he will be a 37 year old twerp.

Christine Wormuth is now the new female Secretary of the Army.
(The Army’s top civilian leader.)

Seems to have been some hiccups, during the process-

The Senate voted in favor of Wormuth for the position Thursday after
a procedural snafu late Wednesday night caused her original confirmation
vote to be reversed.

A Senate Armed Services Committee aide said there was a “mix-up” on the floor
that forced Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to undo her confirmation,
which occurred just hours before by unanimous consent.

Wormuth will replace acting Army Secretary John Whitley, who has been in the position
since Jan. 20, at a busy time for the service, which plans to release its budget request for
fiscal year 2022 on Friday.

Kathleen Hicks was confirmed in February by the Senate as the first woman to serve
as deputy defense secretary.

https://www.stripes.com/Branches/Ar...d-as-first-female-Army-secretary-1593559.html

Christine Wormuth's confirmation had to wait-
Sen. Kevin Cramer (D-N.D.) had a side quest.

The Senate's about-face Wednesday night stemmed from a procedural hold
Sen. Kevin Cramer (D-N.D.) placed on the nomination — a parliamentary
tactic that allows a senator to slow down a nominee — over an issue unrelated
to Wormuth. Cramer said the Senate mistakenly approved her nomination
before he had removed the hold, requiring leadership to backtrack.

"I had a hold on her. I think you probably all suspected that," Cramer told reporters
Thursday. "They accidentally confirmed her by [unanimous consent] and then they
unconfirmed her ... because I hadn't lifted my hold. But I did today. So that's what
happened last night."

Cramer, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, held up Wormuth's
confirmation to force the Army to solve an issue involving an Army major who
had been underpaid for 10 months.

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/05/27/senate-confirm-army-secretary-christine-wormuth-491150

"In deference to her word and the work done so far, I released the hold," Cramer said
of Hicks.

How many are included in a tranche ? ( More side quests)
