Body art appreciation

Now here's a question. Would you get this permanently tattooed on your body? Personally I am against name tattooing, period, but what do you think?

I love tattoos - I would not include a name in any of mine, some of my artwork relate to individual people but without me telling my story, they can be just art.

I have a clear aesthetic preference for the natural when it comes to the female form, so my response to your question will be far from unbiased. Nevertheless, here it is.

I don't find the image appealing for a variety of reasons, but even assuming that I found it truly and exquisitely lovely, I can't imagine why I would want to permanently mark a partner in that way. It's not the name that bothers me, but the prominence and size of the image.

To me, it would be like an irreversible version of deciding that a particular piece of lingerie was the most beautiful she had ever worn, or ever could wear, and then buying dozens & dozens of that exact same thing and mandating: this is ALL you are EVER going to don, for the rest of your life.

I can't see it well enough to read it.
I get that there is a name contained in the design.. and a wreath of sorts.. a big rose... and a lot of color.

The name thing doesn't bother me.
For many years I would have said NO to names. I'm at a point in life now where I am confident in my decisions which have lead to consent of Him making decisions etc ect.... I'm fine with His name displayed on my body for as long as I live and then some. Not everyone can be and I understand and accept that.

Decisions regarding my body are arrived at carefully and responsibly... especially for those things which are permanent .. or especially where the undersatanding of 'no turning back' is implied.. Same goes for tatts. Same goes for ownership and marriage.

This relationship is like a tattoo to me. I CAN remove a tattoo. It's not impossible. It's just not something that my mind entertains .. it's not on the list of options... and it would be far to costly in either case.

So, weighing all of that: I wouldn't be opposed to a huge tatt... or a tatt with a name.
That tatt is not my style though. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we all define beauty diiferently based on what we see and how our mind interprets. If i have a tatt I don't want it to wear on me, rather than me wearing it. It should serve some purpose or at least appear to. I need it to make sense in some way. It has to appear as being a part of me.. rather than a piece of clip art that is just floating there.

Tatts for me, are very personal.... has to be designed by Him or I or it doesn't appeal... and any that i have are for a reason.. they usually hold significance .. or tell a story.

I have 3 tattoos. Each one has a special meaning.

My back tat is a symbol which means "I change my life", I got it a few weeks after I left my ex husband.

The second is a tribal heart which held real significance at the time I got it...I thought I was in love with someone and that he loved me and we'd be together forever but was not to be. However I still love it, as it's a reminder of a time when I was exploring and finding myself.

The third is a recent one....a tribal Kiwi. I wanted a depiction of my birthplace seeing I'm not living there anymore, and I didn't want to put anything like a Maori tattoo on me lest it unwittingly offend.

Regarding the pic that Etoile posted: I'm not a fan of coloured tattoos anyway so I wouldn't have anything like it, and definitely wouldn't put anyone's name on me unless it was my child.

Bah, sorry sinnocent! Apparently that site doesn't let you host full-size or something. Here it is again......................
Thanks for the closer look Etoile.
Looks kind of what i thought it would look like....
I need to get my eyes checked anyway, even so.

"v" wants a tattoo with a mark of mine. We've settled on a design that is tasteful, not huge, and will quietly incorporate my initials.

I'm leery about names simply because of the old saw about getting your girlfriend's name inked on your arm is always followed by a messy break-up. In this case, well, we've been together for 16 years and survived some rocky times. I don't think we're too awful worried at this point. If anything, those rocky times are what has convinced me that this is not a bad idea.

Either way, it will be small, tasteful, and the vast majority of people will have no idea what it is.

I want a triskele tattooed to the back of my neck... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triskelion the one under modern uses
but I've also toyed with getting "Babydoll" tattoed around my finger..

Right now I have Tigger tattoed on my leg.. was my first and was representative of my nickname on AOL where I met Malin... on my left shoulderblade I have a union jack with "3W" in the middle... the flag represents my first trip out of the US .. when I went to England.. the 3W represents "The Three Wives Club".. which is me.. my best friend Jhen and my best friend Terri. Terri and I went to England to visit Jhen...

That's the kind of "couple" tattoo I can go for. I'm planning to have my wife design one for our 10th anniversary. It will be her original design, but it won't have words or lettering. The symbol of it being for both of us is that she designed it. And even if we split up in the future, it will be a memorial to the happy times we spent together for 10 years.

Are you thinking of getting the BDSM Emblem as seen here?

A friend of mine has that on the back of her neck:
