Blaze, you and I seem to have a lot in common. I got mine pierced right before Christmas, and it probably is a midlife crisis thing for me, too. Took my hubby a while to get used to them, but I think the dainty gold loops are soooo pretty. He wants me to get my belly button done. I'd rather have a hood piercing, but don't want jewelry hanging all over my body.

I´m non-pierced myself and I don´t like it when a woman is wearing six earrings all in one ear or something like that, but I don´t object to piercings when they look stylish (a lot also depends on the person wearing it, not only the piercing)

No, the experience is addictive. Your brain produces chemicals that induce a kind of euphoric feeling (endorphins, I believe; sort of natural painkillers). The rush is incredible; I was high for days after mine.

It's why I didn't rush back, though. I didn't want to do anything drastic in pursuit of the rush.

Tattoos and piercings are cool so long as they fit the person. If they look good on a person and if they're well done, then I'm all for it!! My tongue is pierced and I do not lisp. My speech never was affected by it, and it isn't now. And it hurt less than an ear piercing. You wouldn't know it was pierced unless I told you or showed you.

I didn't pierce it to show off, none of my piercings or tattoos are for other people to look at, I got em because I like them. You can't see ANY of my ink or metal unless I show you. I -had- my eyebrow pierced but I no longer have it because, like I said I prefer them out of view. It's more professional looking. I also have my navel pierced. Now -that- hurt.

I also think it's pretty ignorant to judge someone who has a lot of metal and/or ink by implying they are lazy and jobless and will never amount to anything JUST BY HOW THEY LOOK. Think about that.

Put me in the old fashioned-fuddy-duddy catagory. I just dont see the appeal, but understand that there are different stroke for different folks. I just like the idea of rubbing my hand anyplace on a womans body and not having to worry about getting a ring or watch hung on a loop I wasn't expecting.

They're not just for decoration. They increase sensitivity by up to 50%. So if you're lucky enough to be super-sensitive, they might not appeal to you. But it's more than simple adornment. That's why a belly button piercing doesn't appeal to me as much as some other piercings.
