Boston Beach Party!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=RtVIhDgo_uU

This is video and song sums up my basic impression of the late 60’s, without the glitz and glamour.

This song is also the inspiration for a story I am currently working on.

To up the mood a little, one of the coolest songs ever.

For the sake of unglifying :D

And to brag, I saw Herman's Hermits life for free on the Santa Cruz board walk, great night.

The "Louie Louie" vid had a link to Iggy Pop doing "Louie Louie" on French Tv. I have officially seen bout ever-thing.

Ok... some may border on 80s... but a few guilty pleasures of mine... ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cVtDW6_XRQ (i saw prince play this, one of the best moments of my life... esp when he said "This song was made famous by Chakka Kahn... but I wrote it... c'est la vie! - Brilliant!"

I know what you mean about the 80s tho,, generally it is pretty poor...
But some of my fave bands did stuff in the 80s that was really good.... They include new order/joy division and the stone roses. I think THIS guy loves the 80s a bit more tho, esp the cheese stuff.

Good taste on the bdsm boards, home of goth and shit. Well well well.

Glad you approve :D

I actually know Joe Jackson. He is pretty good friends of my mom and we stayed at his place for a few days when we were in England. He also shows up every once in a while at the 60s dance party I frequent. Not bragging, of course ;)

And I admit, there were some good bands in the 80s. Hell, we got some FUCKING good punk/hardcore out of the decade. But the large majority of the era gets a reaction somewhere between "eeeehh..." and "spew"

I'm not a huge Jan and Dean fan but I'm friends with a few rabid fans.

They played a free show at the base we were stationed at. That was one of the cool bennies of life on that base. Ft Bragg, NC really was the best duty station my pop was ever posted to insofar as my end of the experience was concerned. It was the one time in my childhood were I had that Rockwell experience of a single family house on a quiet tree-lined streets, and I got to do the typical sorts of things other kids my age did (plus a lot of crazy shit that only military brats get to do like train off jump towers, learn to rappell from an Army Ranger, fly in combat helos, etc).

They sounded damned good.

That sounds really cool. Lucky you!

TONIGHT!! In only 40 minutes there will be another rockin' installment of the Boston Beach Party! You can tune in right here at: http://wecb.emerson.edu/

If your still awake, why not come on by and take a listen? I promise you won't regret it!

My impression of you guys:

“Yea”
“Yea”
“Yea”
“Yea”
“Yhhheeeeaaaaa!!!!”

“ok Beca”

“Fisting!!!!!”

By the way

“You will drink the black sperm of my vengeance”

What movie was that from, I didn’t catch it?

“You will drink the black sperm of my vengeance”

I laughed at that line. No idea where it is from either, but I still found it funny as hell.

Syd, you guys sounded like you were having a good time. I was too tired to listen to the whole thing, but I was with you through most of it.

Good work, Agent 00Syd.

(Yes, the spy block was awesome. I was hoping to hear "Shanty Town 007" in there though.)

HAHA!! YEAH!! I'm so glad you guys listened. Thats great :D

Your Captor: Thats an excellent impression. I'm happy we made it! And that quote is from Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, an excellent Russ Meyers film that you all should rent straight away. It has everything: Sex, Violence, Big Tits, Drugs, Lesbians, Abortions, Suicide, etc. etc.

Homburg: AWESOME that you could listen. Glad you dug the spy set. We both have so much spy music that it's likely we'll have a bunch of it every week. Hope you can tune in next week!

I really enjoyed the set. You guys have a great mix of songs, ads, etc going on there. Really produces the proper atmosphere. Good on ya.

Haha thats hilarious, its like some weird sexed up pee wee's playhouse sort of a thing. I'll take a look at some other stuff of theirs, don't know if we'll play it on the show, I'll run it by my co-hosts and see what they think. But for sure I dig it, its just that sorta way out stuff that gets me.

And sorry for no show last week, incase anyone tried to tune in, but we are on spring break. This coming monday, though, we are back!

I figured you might like it. The videos are beyond wierd. Their sound is righteously different though. There are one or two tracks that are kinky in a campy way.

Random kitschy goodness.

Yeah, I noticed the suggestion of kink in a few of the songs I ran across.

And fuck yeah, thats a great photo.

Do you know the band The Go! Team? They are pretty cool. A mash-up of some truly awesome vintage sounds, creating something great. They've got a few videos up on youtube some where...

Not heard of em. I'll have to look for them.

I LOVE THE GO TEAM!!!! Especially because they have two drummers.... The rhythms in the songs are brilliant. I also love how they are sort of a mock cheerleading type thing sometimes.

Yeah, they've got a pretty cool 70s cheerleader funky vibe in a lot of their stuff. They seem like such a fun band, I would love to see them live. I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to music, and hardly ever like new bands, but when my friend turned me onto them last summer, I dug that shit right away.

They played here last week but I couldnt go see them :( Was gutted about that..

I'm really into LCD soundsystem at the moment, especially their newest album.
