has anyone here had a brazilian done? if not could you just give me tips based on any bikini waxing you have had done. i love being completely bare and smooth down there, and am highly considering getting this done.
how much does it really hurt? (i'm usually pretty good w/ short-term pain).
how much did it cost?
is it best to let the hair grow a bit before getting it done, or trim it as short as possible first?
i'm partly considering brazilian instead of regular because i want to make sure to get all those tiny hairs that seem to keep growing past crotch and right into the crack... (anyone else experience this?) those are the hardest to get when shaving, and the one's (i think) are least wanted.

well, with any wax... you want a bit of hair there for the wax to grip onto.

I kind of squat in the shower and lean over a little and slowly catch those sneaky hairs with the razor...

As for the rest of your questions, I have no idea, I haven't even tried to wax my legs.

i wax all my pubic hair off and its really not as bad as people make out. its a sharp pain but not unbearable, about as painful as a spanking. i do it myself so i'm not sure how much it costs to get it done in a salon, but i wouldn't imagine that much since its quite common now.

Ive looked into it...not all salons will do a brazillian. They are not cheap (where I live). I have heard they hurt like hell. I get my eyebrows done...I cant imagine what having hot wax ripped from your buttcrack would feel like. But if you really want one...then I say go for it! I managine to get everything fine in the shower...

I know someone who got a brazilian, and she was so sore after that she actually couldn't have sex.

Of course it was her first one, and I expect that if you keep doing it you'd get desensitized. But you probably don't want to try it right before a planned all-night escapade ;)

Ya you do get desensitized over time when you wax or pluck, but you have to do it regularly...

shaving

i think the main reason i want one is the extra smooth feeling that would last for longer
*just to try it
*and while i can get everything while shaving, the farther down you go the more coordination necessary - and i'm more scared of cutting myself (although i never have), then i am of a temporary wax burn feeling.
plus, i hardly feel anything (after the first time), when i get my eyebrows waxed.
so yah, hopefully i'll get a chance to do this!

It costs about $45.

They say it lasts 6-8 weeks. What they don't tell you is that your hair will start growing back in about 1-2 weeks.

If you've ever waxed your legs or eyebrows, you'll know the pain you're in for. It'll totally surprise you. It'll hurt for half an hour after, and because your skin won't be used to it, it'll probably break out in little red bumps.

When you go to the beautician, you can have it done one of two ways. THey'll either get you to get your gear off and go doggystyle on the table, with your ass up in the air, then they'll wax and tweeze whatever couldn't be waxed

OR

They'll get you on your back, with your legs spread and ask you to hold your butt cheeks apart!

It's not a big deal. Don't trim before you go because you'll want to give the wax something to hold onto.

The more often you go, the more time you'll be able to leave between visits, cos the hair will grow back finer and take longer to reach the stage it was previously.

If you start with the Brazilian, you may be forced to continue it, esp.if your skin is prone to ingrown hairs.

But, those who've gone Brazilian rarely want to go back anyway.

NB: I do accept monetary donations for my sound advice.

Brazilian wax, been, done and still do

I've been waxed and prefer to keep it that way as opposed to being clean shaven all the time.

I won't lie to you, the initial waxing of all your pubic hair smarts the first time. I recommend lots of cool wash clothes and ice type packs the night after. I had some minor puffyness and it was very red, but by 24 hours later, it was prime.
I had no fear of stubble, no itching as the hair grows back, the waxed hair follicles get slowly damaged each time you wax. The hair grows back more slowly and much softer than the result you would get from shaving.

And for the few times in between waxes, when you get that slight shadowy residue, try Nair or some other mild hair deploritory.......with either aloe or baby lotion for that sensative skin area.

My first Brazilian was about $45. And after that when I went between 1-2x a month to keep it up. The follow ups were the same cost as my fill ins for my nails, $18. But I do pamper myself in this way, maybe you think you are worth it too....

Waxing is not for everyone, but I prefer it. It's cleaner, softer and requires less upkeep on the daily basis as long as you maintain the regimen. I'm biased, but I can report that some of my past lovers have all enjoyed the end result.

I miss the results of my waxing, but not the temporary pain. I had to give it up for financial reasons, but I agree that it's deceiving when 'they' say it lasts for 4 weeks. You don't stay SMOOTH for that long, maybe 10 days tops. Then you have to let the hair grow to a length that the wax can grab it again.

Yeah, I've gotten a Brazilian. I do find that it hurts more than having my legs done, though it's about the same as having the bikini done.

Most of the advice already given in this thread is pretty good, but I will add one thing.

Make sure to find out exactly what a Brazilian includes at your salon. For my local salon, it means a landing strip on your mons that continues onto your lips. That is, they go about partway onto your lips, but not all the way. It is more than with a bikini wax though. I've also been to a salon that did full lips and left a landing strip. A friend of mine in NYC says the Brazilian for her includes between the asscheeks, but if I want that here I have to ask for a Perineal Wax.
