Broaden My Horizons Please... Musically

I never knew this existed. And I love the Meters and Neil Young.

I found it a couple weeks ago and have been wearing it out. I hate how Spotify treats artists, but on the other hand, I must confess that it really helps me find music.

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Another song I listened to a way lot in the 1990s until I got bored with it. Marilyn Manson's version was also ho-hum. Give it time I suppose. Good guitar-line though.

Ho hum is putting it nicely. Dude needs a cough drop. ;)

Here's a blatant ripp-off of the song that I otherwise like—even more than all the versions of Peter Gunn I've heard.
Simple Minds - In Trance As Mission

I'm still on the fence about this. There are some things I really like about it, but I'm just not sure yet.

However I did add "Hunter and the Hunted".

Added!

'Lucklucky' Official Video - Veda Hille

"It took 30 years to draw this map."

That one is kind of fun. But not available on Amazon. Not quite sure about it anyway, but I appreciated hearing it.

Here's something uplifting—though it might be soppy relationship/romantic stuff.
Sounds a bit like Joni Mitchel.
The Weather Station: "Way It Is, Way It Could Be" (Official Audio)

I went for "Everything I Saw".

For future reference.

One Au Pairs Unfinished Business added. Thank you Pointless. :)

there's more to life than warm woolen mittens and fuzzy kittens. Which is why Frost recommends the path less traveled

"My Favorite Things"

I liked and nabbed "No Moon At All". Thank you. :)

By way of the Jacques Loussier Trio -- "Gnossiennes"

The Gnossiennes no. 4 is sublime. Furniture music, French impressionist piano. Always puts me in a romantic mood.

I nabbed Gnossienes No 4. I really liked that.

I liked this as well but could not find it on Amazon music for download.

(Time for the next group!)

I can't recall if we've gone into Jazz or not. While I hate some of his song titles and their connotations, I LOVE his music. It will generally stir your mood upwards.

Can you believe that in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voting this year Bon Fucking Jovi is number one and The Meters are dead last?

I see what you mean. Singles aren't available

I would take a chance on Brahem's latest CD, Blue Maqams

As a sample, "Blue Maqams"

Includes Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette and Django Bates

Unfortunately, it's all too believable.

While there's got to be some good to it, the whole idea of the establishment getting together to vote on accolades and enshrine royalty is pretty much the exact opposite of the whole point of rock and roll.

I can't remember what's been mentioned and I'm too lazy to search.

Have you tried jazz violinist Jean Luc Ponty?

Cosmic Messenger
Mystical Adventures

Outstanding. Just friggin' outstanding.

I ended up with "Faith in You". I like the way it sounds.

Most of this likely won't be new, but we'll hope it may be new to you. Hopefully Spotify links work?

For your 40's - 50's tastes -

Joe Jackson's Jumpin Jive (album)

which was inspired by the remarkable Louis Jordan

Don't think this classifies as Brit Pop - but it's a favorite album by a group that's at least adjacent to that category at times -

Brand New Heavies - Brother Sister

The Meters have been scratchin an itch in the classic category...

Hope you enjoy!

Joe Jackson - Jumpin' Jive
Lous Jordan - Is you or is you ain't my baby
Brand New Heavies - Dream on Dreamer
The Meters - Hand Clapping Song

Those are the ones I grabbed. Thank you. :)

Oddly enough my cat did not like this song. It annoyed her. I know, odd. I can live with that.

Not my thing, but thank you anyway.

If this doesn't get you up off your ass someone needs to check your pulse!!

Hey Pocky Way

You know that's right!

Love that one - Down by the River is a Meters tune that's new to me, and I'm loving it too.

Huh - just realized it's a Neil Young tune, covered by the Meters. What a completely different take on the idea.

I liked Down By the River and grabbed that one.

More added. Very awesome. Thank you everyone. More posts to go through but that will wait for another session.

absolutely love this...

the pretty reckless

Pretty cool. I grabbed that one and another.

The Pretty Reckless - Take Me Down
The Pretty Reckless - Heaven Knows

Those are all kind of a bit out there for me. Especially that last one. :D

I'd not seen that before. Very fun.

A trip down memory lane. :)

Thanks, no.

Chuck Berry was so great.

Yes.

Grabbed it. Grazie!

I'm also fond of the no. 1 and no. 3 Gnossiennes, but the fourth has a special place in my memory.

If you enjoy Erik Satie, he also composed the Gymnopédies. But in my opinion, these pieces are the inferior to the Gnossiennes.

I added No1, but No 3 wasn't as appealing to me.

While none of those did it for me, I did like Bellavia and grabbed that one. Thank you. :)

That was a bit... weird.

Not quite my style but thank you anyway.

I went ahead and got the digital CD for Astounding Eyes of Rita. I don't think I'll be disappointed. They didn't have Maqams available digitally yet.

I had forgotten what a good sounding song that was. I also grabbed "Can't always get what you want".

Whew! That was a round.

Thank you everyone. :rose:
