Broken Glass (Closed)

Jake.

"Miss Madsen..!" He shook his head as he stood there. "I've seen enough of this kind of wound. You very likely have a concussion, and internal as well as external bleeding. It's no wonder that you feel the need to lie down. Come with me, or I will summon some orderlies and take you out on a gurney. You are seriously hurt, here."

"Hey you can't tell me whether or not I've been hurt that much." Abigail continued to rub her head. She moved to sit on the floor so she could stretch out her legs. It was also a big plus that the floor was cool and it soothed her bare legs when they came in contact. As the detective rambled on with his threats of having her hauled off by the nurses if she didn't comply, she let out an irritable groan.

"All right, fine. Just...just help me up. You can lift 125 pounds, can you?"

"Of course I can," Jake said, stuffing his notepad into his shirt pocket and then kneeling down along one side of her. "Here we go, Abigail."

He slid his hands underneath her, and lifted her up with his arms, standing up by means of using his knees and legs only. One advantage of being in a hospital was that there were signs everywhere directing people where to go, and as soon as he had gotten to his feet, he began to walk gently along, as not to jostle her, to the emergency ward.

"You'll be all right, Abigail. Try to stay awake if you can. Look up at my face, focus on the sound of my voice."

Abigail was too tired to fight off the detective. She really wanted to lie down at this point. As he helped her down the hallway, she began to hear voices. One of them belonged to the detective while the other sounded like one of the nurses. Abigail wasn't sure anymore. Her eyes grew heavy as the time went on.

Sleep. Yes, that's what will help the headache go away.

Abigail did not know how much time had passed but the next time she opened her eyes, the ceiling tiles greeted her. A gauze was wrapped around her head.
