But for the Future.

Leah Campbell:
At the mention of Seth's Chinese food Leah was unable to stifle an unprofessional giggle, "Of course, what else would Seth be doing after all!" She glanced at Aileen as they walked, though her face had returned to it's mask of cool, businesslike calm, genuine amusement still sparkled in her green eyes as they met Aileen's.

"I'm glad you like it at the Towers, it must seem a little odd to live in the same building as your boss though." A smile flashed across her lips, "I'm glad you get along with Seth: he can be something of an acquired taste, but he is one of the most brilliant minds we have at Replapet."

Aileen O'Shaughnessy

"Well, I must admit that living in the same place as my boss feels a trifle...odd, shall we say. But at least you know where to look for my body if I don't show up some day."

She chuckled at that unlikely event. She was becoming more and more comfortable with her new boss.

"I have to say, Miss Campbell, that I'm really looking forward to working with you and Seth. The Fido project is quite exciting and full of wonderful possibilities. Now if we could just smooth things over with Mr. Polaski. You don't suppose I've done something wrong in my first day on the job, do you?"

She stopped midstep as she thought back to her meeting with Steven.

"Oh, my."

She glanced at her boss and turned beet red.

Steven:

Waiting in his office, all the buisness for the day technically done, save for his meeting with Leah, and Aileen, Steve sat back in his chair, with a sigh, this was not going to be easy, but he knew he needed Leah on board to help Aileen in the long run.

Leah Campbell:
She chuckled wryly at Aileen?s talk of smoothing things over, "Oh I'm quite sure it has little to do with you, but as for smoothing things over..." Aileen's sudden exlemation caught her attention, and she was surprised to see the other woman blushing deeply.

"Is something wrong?"

Aileen O'Shaughnessy

She looked over at Miss Campbell and resumed walking at a slower pace.

"Um, well, I'm afraid in my gratitude for having been given the job, I may have stepped over an unspoken line."

She glanced around, hoping no one would overhear their conversation.

"I, uh, put my arms around him and kissed him."

A worry line appeared above her eyes.

"I know I shouldn't have but I was so grateful. You don't suppose he's changed his mind about hiring me, do you? I really want to work here and think I could make a difference if given the chance."

Leah Campbell:
Casting a brief glance over Aileen's beautiful curvaceous figure, Leah couldn't help but laugh. "Firstly, if there's one thing my ex has never complained about it's having a sensuous female body such as yours pressed up against his, and secondly, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference if he does want to fire you, he's not your boss."

Leah shook her head in an amused fashion, still smiling, "To be perfectly honest with you, I'm quite certain that Steve's after one of two things: either he wants to gloat over managing to force you down my throat, or he's discovered that you have actually turned out to be one of the few competent employees I've found in years and wants to try and take you away from me."

Steven:

Standing impatiantly, Steve walked out of his office, only to find Leah, and Aileen walking toward him, He huffed in exasperation at their tardiness, as he waved them into his office. "Leah... You're late." He said without humor, then looked up at Aileen, raising an eyebrow as he did. "We have a bit of buisness to deal with today Aileen..."

Aileen O'Shaughnessy

She was so relieved at her boss' attitude and about to continue the conversation when Mr. Polaski appeared. He was quite animated, a totally different man than the man who had hired her.

Glancing at Miss Campbell, Aileen responded to him.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Polaski, it's entirely my fault. I was so involved with Seth and Fido, it took a page from Miss Campbell to get me to her office."

She followed Miss Campbell into the office, taking a seat beside her in front of the executive desk.

Leah Campbell:
"Good morning Steven." Leah said cooly, pointedly ignoring his comment about being late. She strode into his office as though it belonged to her, sitting in one of chairs in front of the desk. Crossing her long legs, she let her raised foot slip out of its Italian patent leather pump, leaving the shoe swaying, from her stockinged and impeccably manicured toes, in an attitude of casual indifference.

"So Stevie," she said, smiling with insincere pleasantness, "to what matter of earth shattering importance to we owe the pleasure of this summons?"

Steven:

"Leah, Aileen here, she's in danger, she's being..." He paused, looking into Aileen's eyes. "She's being tracked down by a Repo-man..." Steve breathed in a hush tone. "Now, I need you're help in protecting her, I need you on board with this Leah... Thats why I called you... And you Aileen, I called you here becasue, you have a comunication device... The Repo man is tracking you THROUGH it... Its best if you stop using it all together... Now, I have some... Friends, who are setting up a way to keep you safe..." He stopped to take in both their reactions then.

Leah Campbell:
She looked at Steve in disbelief, which swiftly turned to anger. "Oh you cannot be fucking serious! You idiot!! You actually thought I'd fall for that?!" Laughing derisively she uncrossed her legs and slipped her shoe back on.

"I'll bet you had to pay my old friends a small fortune for that little tidbit, but you know what sweetie," the smile she gave him fairly dripped with acid, "I'm afraid you wasted all that precious money. My activist days were a mistake I made a long, long time ago: I don't fight for the reps anymore, I build the fuckers now." She added icely, getting to her feet as she muttered under her breath, "Moron!" Then stormed out of his office before Steven managed to get a word in.

Reaching her own office she slammed the door. That bastard! It had taken her years of work to discover how to hack into the central core of the governments database and alter her records, but once she had managed it she had made sure that every detail of her new past was flawlessly integrated with the rest. There was simply no way Steven could have found anything out except through one of her old associates. One of them must have sold out, miserable fucker, and when she was this close to their goal! Well she'd be dammed if Steven would stop her, there was no proof, his only chance had been tricking her into exposing herself with that painfully obvious trap.

Steven:

Blinking in surpise, Steve was taken completely off guard. After she had stormed out, having spoken her tirade, Steve stood up, holding a hand out toward Aileen. "Just stay here for a moment..." He sighed, then rushed out, and down the hall to Leah's office. He knocked roughly at her door. "Leah... Leah! God damn it, this is no fucking trick!" He stopped abruptly, and leveled his voice. "Aileen, she's really..." He looked around again. "Let me in... We HAVE to talk... Its for Aileen's sake... Damn it..."

Leah Campbell:
She opened the door, confronting Steven angrily, "Look you prick, we both know you don't have one shred of evidence that I have ever been involved in the resistance, if you did I'd already be in a prison cell being cross-examined! And you can forget about catching me out with this childish game of yours, I realized a long time ago that the reps aren't 'just like us', they're fucking machines: we built them and we own them!" She hissed, glaring daggers at him.

"If I thought for a minute that Aileen was a rep I'd have the INS down here so fast your head would spin. So can forget about getting any proof, it's just your word against mine, and after what they learn about your little girlfriend today, believe me, the board's going to value my words a lot more highly than yours!" Leah added with a icy smile.

Steven:

Having had quite enough of Leah's nonsensical ranting, Steve pushed into her office. He turned to her. "Shut up!" He barked. "Just shut the hell up and listen!" He was extremely angry at her sudden outburst still. "I don't know, and I don't CARE what you're fucking talking about. This is not a trap! Why can't you just fucking listen Leah? No WONDER we didn't work! God!" Steven stood in front of her then, falling silent, slightly surprised at his own out burst.

OOC: For those who don't already know, Ravenloft's lost his ISP (he doesn't know for how long). :(

He opened his eyes, and the world came into focus. The were two people in white labcoats - a man and a woman - standing over him.

"Are you sure about this?" the woman asked. "We haven't gotten government approval to activate one of these yet."

"We're running out of options," the man in the labcoat answered. "Robert hasn't turned up anything, yet. We're running out of time."

They both looked down at the man on the table.

"Adam," the man in the labcoat said. "State your objective."

"Find Lexi Huntington, and eliminate her," Adam answered.

"Excellent. Prepare to receive new input."

Adam's green eyes turned black, and the male technition placed an optic interface over his eyes. The file contained all the data about their repo man, and any info he had relayed to them.

"Find this man, and question him. Aquire all pertinant information."

"Tactics?" Adam asked.

"Whatever you deem necessary for the interrogation."

"Understood," Adam replied. He sat up when the data transfer had finished. "Do I have permission to begin, sir?"

The two techitions looked at each other, before turning back to Adam.

The woman looked him up and down, and grinned. "Permission granted, soldier," she whispered.
