Why is it women always seem to go for the "bad boy" type, and not even give the "nice guy" the time of day? just wanting to hear others opinions on this. thanks

I like both. My last BF used to do drugs and is basically a bad boy reformed by age, though he still has a few of those delectible bad boy tendencies. My current beau, though, is a nice guy all the way. The "bad boys" are the ones that excite our passions and thrill us by their daring. The "nice guys" are the ones we excite, thrill... and marry. :)

A bigger question is why they are always surprised when they get cheated on, beaten up or dumped for someone else later on. I always get a chuckle out of that.

Have to agree this seems to be the case often in the world. The sad part is women then wonder why they are being abused and such. We good guys just have to accept this as a natural fact. I’ve come to the point of believing in the good boys always finish last. And in this instance extinction is our only option.

Sorry guys, good guys don't always finish last...here's one bad girl who likes her MEN the good kind...and I'm lucky, I've got a sweetheart of a man...fact of the matter is, there just aren't enough good guys out there for all the bad girls....

because most 'nice guys' ...aren't. More likely they're pushovers who have a hard time coming up with an honest opinion or original thought. You can see the type all day long on any personals site. They're the guys who like long walks on the beach, cuddling by a fire, and romantic candlelit dinners. Clingy, needy men don't get women. On the rare happenstance they do, it's generally an overbearing, spoiled princess, until she gets tired of him, leaves him confused and heartbroken, wondering what they missed in the Cosmo guide to what women want.

Here's another tip: when you hear "it's not you, it's me"...it's you.

"are ya writing this down boy? I'm giving you pearls here. Whooah!"

I don't know what to tell you...

My main cyber partner is an incredible man...kind, thoughtful, caring and giving...a "good guy."

I prefer good men...they are just very hard to find.

I guess its because bad boys
  • are not ashamed to want you
  • give 'hints and promises' rough fucking
  • are fascinating
  • will actually come to hit you in bars
  • dont think you are a mother/queen/angel

Nice guys are nice but too often they just admire you from distance and then come to talk with "I'm sorry to disturb you" -attitude. Also most girls want to have a guy who is stronger and more active. Nice guys dont "advertise" those qualities like bad boys.

To put it very simply I would say that bad boys seem usually more self-confident. That attracts girls.

I guess the jack-pot is a bad guy with good guy inside. :D

Nice topic! Been lurking on this, but thought I'd put my opinion in.

Deep down, I think all women want the "asshole". The nice guy is the dependable one, the one that won't hurt them, and be responsive to the gal needs. They want the man who will prey on their insecurities, to devalue them to the point that they're needed all the time, and show no emotional attachment whatsoever to the person they're with at that time.

Bitter, but not without fact.

This is spurned from the fact that the gal I was interested with decided she just wanted to "be friends", despite possibly having interest. You can be too nice.

I have a theory that nice guys will eventually be driven from the earth. Simply because the assholes will breed them out.

If you wanna say I'm wrong, fine. It's not like you want the nice guys anyway.

Because of Psychology!

like it or not, it is hardwired into most womens psychie to want the better physical attributes of a person in order to create more diserable offspring. it has been wired into the mind of all women, and still is down on the must basic levels of intelegence, as seen with large cats (like lions).

Women like 'bad boys' better because they are:
Stronger
More likely to Provide
More likely to Protect
More likely to impregnate

even though you, as a nice smart dorky guy, may be more likely to be successful, rich and well off; since you don't have those 4 attributes, they tend to pass you over.

Some women.

Maybe it also has something to do how guys see each other not only as how girls see guys.

I guess many "good guys" really look down on "bad guys" - in a slightly bitter way :)

So who is he?

Holy shit. This is perfection. Every freakin' word.

The nice guy defense makes me giggle. Every relatively sane woman wants respect from her guy, but there's a difference between the respectful man and the lapdog.

As it goes, bad boys give us more of what we want. They have the qualities we believe men should have--as highlighted by misspihla. And so the more entrenched you become in politically correct lip service and platitudes, the bigger and better the probability you'll be left in the dust.

Nice first post Valediction1!

The thing is... nice guys aren't always as nice as they seem and bad guys aren't always as bad as they seem. It's the (right!) combination and mix of the two that appeals most to me. With a slight preference for "nice".

I'd like to rescue that.

Most "nice guys", as pointed out earlier, aren't. They just think they are. And not so many women actually are abused by the "bad boys", that's just another stereotype.

Most women are attracted by self-confidence, and that the bad boys have lots of. And it doesn't matter how much of geek you are, you won't be successful unless at some point you acquire that self-confidence.

I know; I was a nice guy once. And I still am (aside from enjoying the occasional bondage scene). The fact of the matter is "nice guys finish last", so you have to take the "qualities" of the bad boys, and apply them to your nice guy persona. Assuming you really are a nice guy, and not some simpleton who hides behind a "nice" façade his bad traits: shy, self-centered (worries about what others may think of him), ego (I'm a "nice guy") and an abject interest more in yourself (whining why she went off with someone else) than her well-being.

Well take this from a woman who has had bad boys and good men. I will take a good man over a bad boy anyday!! I want a man who worships me, who praises me, who adores me. I have had the boys who play games, screw around and in general treat women like crap. The good men don't loose out in the end. They find REAL women who appericate them!!

Bad boys are confident because they don't give a fuck. Women don't necessarily find bad boys attractive, they find confident men attractive.

Thank you.

What the hell is a "nice guy"? I don't want to date a man who is going to WHINE about being a nice guy and not getting any girls. Thats hardly sexy.

I don't know why the 'bad boy' image is so attractive, but I bet it has something to do with the confidence evoked through the "devil without a cause" attitude. But really, most 'bad boys' are pretty fucked up in the head and come with a lot of baggage. Intelligent women don't allow themselves to be berated by their boyfriends. It's ridiculous.

My boyfriend is a 'bad boy'. Does he berate me? No. Does he have issues? Oh god, yeah. Do I still love his sociopathicantisocialsemischizo ass? Yeah.

Don't whine about being a nice guy....just be a nice guy. Whatever that nice guy entails. Whining isn't sexy....nice guys are sexy...nice confident guys who care about their girls, are sexy. Whiny baby guys...not sexy.

Nice guys do not finish last. Pushovers, of either sex, finish last. Confidence is an aphrodisiac for most women and I think, not that I will ever know for sure, for most men. There is no black and white dichotomy here. Nobody is completely good or completely bad. Personally what I like in a person of either sex is confidence, the ability to make a decision, and innovative ideas. Not everybody likes the same kind of person, so broad generalizations like this are bound to be commented on extensively, especially by people who think differently than the OP.

A lot of women seem to have this idea that a nice guy is a pathetic loser or whiney clingly type or pushover. Where did they get that idea? Since when did not being a complete fucktard make you a pathetic loser? I'm starting to get the feeling they may say that as a way of defending their attraction to abusive assholes. Could be wrong.
