Can someone please explain the "running away" mentality?

Short version:

I meet a girl a few weeks ago, we go out a few times. Things are going really, really well. She keeps telling me over & over again that she likes me.

Suddenly, she starts blowing me off. Won't return texts, or calls. Deletes me from Facebook.

We didn't have a fight and I didn't say or do anything rude. I knew she liked me. Why do people run away when it's going well?

Scared maybe? Were you going too fast? Were you getting clingy? Who knows of the reasons.

Things probably weren't going as well as you think or at least on her end. Deleted on Facebook  harsh. I'm guessing she meet someone she thinks is better than you and you have been replaced. Possibly she is just a bitch too. Like it was said who knows? Either way you said you just went out a couple times. Rant and rave to the heavens, lick your wounds, play some Black Sabbath, and then move on.

When an ostrich is afraid, it will bury its head in the ground, assuming that because it cannot see, it cannot be seen. Interesting way to avoid the problem. Some of us do too, we are like ostrich. We run away, change the topic or avoid certain people. The ‘ostrich mentality’ is when a person refuses to confront or deal the issues that are facing him, whatever they may be.
Ostriches are not as stupid as people seem to think.:)

Maybe she found out something about you on your FB or word of mouth? Maybe you did something you did not realize was offensive and she did. Sometimes when one person thinks that its going well the other person does not.

She intentionally left stuff at my place, and she has a dating profile still up.

I'll get over it. I just have this frustrating need to understand why people do things.

and you never said phrases like, "I think your big butt is sexy" or "I hate shopping?" ??

She left stuff at your place? PAWN SHOP time my friend!

*the wondering and unknown kills everybody

Probably a bottle of Clearasil and a pair of panties, stuff you don't have to worry about when you delete them from facebook.

That sucks, I'm so sorry. Sometimes we never understand why people do things, unless you can somehow get an answer out of her.

Thanks.

She said she 'didn't feel a connection", but after all the things she said previously, and her behavior I find that hard to believe.

I seriously think she ran because of insecurity.

Perhaps she's a commitmentphobe. If she really did start to feel strong feeling towards you, running is exactly what she'd do. Seems strange she'd do that so quickly...

I agree with not trying to figure that stuff out though, you waste time with rare results. I've done it myself..

I would never just stop all Contact

I don't see anything wrong with giving a person the curtsey
of explaining their change of feelings

I agree....I always curtsey after dumping someone.

maybe not insecurity so much but a fear of intimacy. For a long time, intimacy was what I craved-but whenever I looked like actually getting it, I bolted. I had to grow up, a lot...

I know this is is going to sound horrible but I have issues with sugar coating things.

She might have gotten bored after the initial excitement wore off and just doesn't have the balls to tell you in a nice sugar coated way of course.

I can accept that. If that was the case I just wish she had been honest and told me that.
