I'm all for a trans-Canada pipeline. I see no reason why we should pump oil south and then buy it back as gasoline. I'm a lefty tree hugger and still thinks Canada should and can be energy self-sufficient. We are a resource country, no getting away from that. Our manufacturing is just a cushion against the swings of commodity pricing. Plus an economy which makes things is more advanced than one which finds things.

Oil and natural gas should be used for far more useful things than being burnt up in cars and furnaces.

What I can't figure is why there is such an uproar about selling a few military vehicles to the Saudis because they may use them for war but we can send them billions for oil so they can buy the vehicles and we can't build a pipeline to use our own oil and stop sending them money.

So what do you propose as alternative fuel for cars and house heating???

I like nuclear...politicians don't though.
Hydro is almost used up...no good rivers left and the environmental from it is crazy

wind causes more pollution than it saves...you ever see what it takes to change the oil in them?

And we are using less...so much less that they had to raise the price because we weren't using enough to cover the costs of shipping the excess to the US at a loss
