(Closed for IceWolfe and me)
For days they had been traveling, stopping at Inns whenever they could and slowly it was starting to become tiresome. At first Lady Alice had rejoiced at the thought of visiting her brother at the Scottish court in Edinburgh, but soon the journey was wearing her out.
Having spent all twenty years of her life in London, the young maid was eager to see a bit of the world. Her parents however hoped that her brother Edward would help her find a decent husband, since Alice had rejected all her suitors at the London court. She was beautiful with her long black hair, piercing blue eyes and slim figure with curves in all the right places, so there never really was a lack of possible husbands, but none seemed to strike her fancy.
Despite her docile appearance, there was a fire within Alice that longed for adventure and a challenge.
Still, when her carriage moved onto Scottish territory she became a little nervous and so did the guards that accompanied her.
"Is it really so dangerous?", she asked, leaning out of the window and addressing one of the soliders riding closest to her.
"Aye, mylady. The Scottish are still rebelling against the English. They wont accept that we rule their lands and as Lord Hampshire's sister you are in great danger. Its best we get to Edinburgh as fast as possible.", the man replied, his eyes remaining vigilant.
Alice's older brother Edward had won the King's favour and had been granted a position of power in Scottland where he was to assure English supremacy. Needless to say, the Scottish lairds and people did not appreciate bowing to an English crown.
"Surely nobody would be foolish enough to attack us. There are twenty men around my carriage after all.", Alice pointed out before sitting back in her carriage. It had been a long day already and she was stating to get tired. Although the constant rocking was uncomfortable, she managed to fall asleep somehow.
