Captured!

I felt a strange sensation, like the building of power and then staggered as a bright white light blinded me and then a thunder-clap shoved me to my knees. I was near blinded, and realised my hearing was gone, or was it?
I could hear voices, garbled, excited, some in a tongue I had never heard before, but recognized the tones of anger, fear and ....hunger...hunger? that was the sensation of the creatures I had felt when they first "dropped in".
I reached out with my mind and "grabbed" one of the hungry voices and projected the image of me eating my "turkey dinner". It's response was an excited burst of fear as it got the idea, it was my dinner!
"Now let's see how you like the feeling of being squashed like a bug" I sent to it, lifting it's body with my anger and sending it to the shimmering wall 20 feet away, slamming it against it and pushing hard, till it's body started to flatten.
I felt the "hunger" coming at me this time and without turning "grabbed" the creature as it leaped, holding it in midair, listening to it's voice change from hunger to fear.
"Hey Lightning" I "said" to Janice "You said you need target practice, take a bead on this!"

Janice Miller: Something in The Air

As she saw the kid recover, and offer her target practice, a wave of excitement swept through Janice. She jabbed her hand towards the beast in the air. This time, however, rather than lightning, a gust of high wind swept the room. Most were unnaffected, as it was well below hurricane level it merely caused those standing around to stagger. The beast in the air though was flung hard against the wall. With a sickening crunch it's skull cracked.

Janice shook her head in confusion. What was going on? Why could she only sometimes fly, only sometimes throw bolts of lightning, and sometimes cause a gust of wind? It didn't make sense, unless...

...A thought occurred to her. As always, her emotions had been swinging wildly, fear, depression, rage, excitement. God she hoped it had nothing to do with that. How did someone control what they were feeling? She heard The Mad Hermit talking about that once, but he always talked bullshit, so that was irrelevant.
