Hi All. I am one of those lurkers who are always reading the boards but never posts, usually because I don't have anything unique to add or an original question. I come today, however, with a "Where To" question.

My wife and I are in need of a nice vacation. We are looking at the all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and we were wondering if anyone has been to any of these resorts and can report back good and bad about the locations. We are primarily looking at the Sandals resorts at the moment and of those particularly the Jamaican locations.

We are looking for a place where we can just forget about the outside world and focus on each other. Having all kinds of water sports available including SCUBA would be great and nice secluded locations for us to fool around would be wonderful as well.

Thanks All!

Thanks for the information Calvin, we had not even considered Costa Rica! We will add that to the pool of possabilities.

your welcome....

I really like it myself.... altho I do not think I would pick San Jose as a city to hang out in.... areas of it are pretty rough and you do run into some police corruption for sure but they buy off pretty easy.... it is really halpful if you do speak passable Spanish if you plan on traveling as we do..... once you are in the resort area (either coast) it is easier and safer.... but I just love the east coast better because it is wilder and less resort polluted.....

here is another link that shows where Cahuita is (# 13).... it was cool cause it was really easy to cross over into Panama for a day of shopping....

We went to the Bitter End Yacht Club and it was absolutely wonderful. I would go again in a second.

I have heard good things about club Orient, but have not been there.

We went to Cayo Largo Cuba. Virtually the whole island is a sandy beach; some more secluded than others. There are a half dozen resorts. Most of the beaches (aside from directly in front of the resorts) are clothing optional. Interesting crowd. Mostly Europeans (of course) but I met one American from California. I asked him how he got there and he said through Mexico - via Toronto/Montreal would be another option. I asked about the Cuban stamp on his passport and he said the Cubans don't stamp (true, but I hadn't noticed). It is not a big night life spot but if you want a great tropical resort which is a little different it is worth checking out.

Very good rum but no tequila worth speaking of!

So it has got secluded, great diving/snokeling, other watersports, all inclusive. You can google it

i live in the U.S Virgin Islands and there are a few really good resorts on st.thomas and st.john if u are still looking. the westin on st.john and frenchmans reef on st.tomas are to of my fav.

I haven't been to the Caribbean. I have, however, been to a number of resorts in the Pacific, including this resort in Fiji and loved everything about it. Great SCUBA, five star dining, beautiful private cabanas, remote and unhurried.
