The big ballroom of full of music, laughter, and voices. Waiters moved through the dress up guest handing out snacks and drinks, while the DJ slowly go the party going. One of the larges company of the city had invited all its local employees to their annual corporate Halloween party. So numerous zombies, vampires, witches, and other dark creatures had found their way into the hall and after suffering through the obligatory speeches, were now heating up to the music.
However, between all those happy faces, one girl didn’t seem to be too joyful. Vanessa Nicole Lee was standing at the side of the ballroom all by herself. She felt out of place for several reasons and that showed on her rather pale face. First of all, Vanessa wasn’t working for the company, she had been brought along to the party by her friend Rachel, who had abandoned her for talking with some guy from work she had a crush on. So Vanessa didn’t know anyone around and she wasn’t really the type of girl that made friends easily. Secondly, the twenty-four year old didn’t feel very comfortable in her costume, which her friend had gotten for her.
The two young women had dressed as gothic vampires. Which meant that Rachel hat gotten them tight fitting black outfits with matching high heeled boots and black stockings. While Rachel was pretty confident in her look, Vanessa was feeling very odd. She wasn’t used to show of her legs or her body. Normally the young programmer wore comfortable sweaters with jeans and sneakers. But now, she had trouble walking on the 6 inch high heel boots, which were cover with numerous metal locks. The small skirt just barely covered her butt and the tight, fake leather top was too tight for her. But, the worst in the young woman’s eyes where the thigh high nylons with a spider web like pattern and the gartner belt straps holding them up.
Feeling bored and out of place, Vanessa tried to keep out of the way, so that she didn’t get noticed by anyone. She hoped that she could slip away quietly in a bit and get home to watch some TV or read a good book. The young woman pushed the dark rimmed glasses back up on her nose and looked at the people in the room, searching for her friend. Vanessa was sure that some guys had looks at her, but immediately had looked away. She blushed and nervously played with her black hair, which contrasted her pale skin strongly.
