Name: Fayra Songstorm
Age: 283
Race: Escardian
Class: Cleric
Rank: High Priestess of Eluria
Height: 5'9"
Hair: Black
Eyes: Light brown
Personality:
As one of the holy Clerics of the Escardian race, Fayra is compassionate towards others, even those who seek to do her harm. Extremely smart, Fayra nonetheless does not act with pride, often humbling herself in the presence of others, and though she might seem timid she is actually quite strong at heart (It was once said that Fayra could win a staring contest with a Black Dragon, though obviously such claims were over exaggerated).
Special Skills:
As a Cleric Fayra is gifted with the ability to use Divine Magic to heal others. Though young, Fayra possesses an especially keen intellect and tremendous wisdom, both versed in lore and in practical applications. She is just as able to cook a good meal as she is at turning away the Undead. Fayra uses her Divine abilities to try and soothe the pain of others, hoping to restore balance to a world that has been thrown into Chaos.
Most Clerics carry only one or two weapons at the most, and Fayra is no exception. She has a tiny dagger hanging loosely from her belt, and she holds a long staff in her hands that doubles as a walking cane. It is ornately crafted, bearing her own personal inscriptions and those of her deity, the goddess Eluria. Though able to use her dagger exceedingly well, Fayra prefers staying out of melee range, being considerably weaker than most other fighters. Her main function in a party is that of a supportive one, casting defensive spells to raise spirits and heal wounds.
Biography:
Fayra grew up never knowing her parents, as she had been given to the Temple of Clerics when she was a young child, barely able to remember her own name. Alongside a dozen other students her own age, Fayra immersed herself in the divine arts, practicing holy magic and studying the deep lore that surrounds her people. Fayra was noted as being extremely gifted in her intelligence, finding her work easy to comprehend and she always seemed eager to perform some new task, whether it was helping a friend or even one of her professors.
The Temple of Clerics decided that upon her seventy-fifth birthday, Fayra was ready for their Trials. Most apprentice clerics are not allowed to take the Trials until their one hundredth birthday, as they are extremely intensive and life-altering. Fayra felt honored to even be allowed the chance to compete, and she felt confident that she would do the very best she could.
She was nearly killed during the Trials, and they left her severely drained.
Fayra passed, however, and to her that was what mattered. Even so she prefers not remembering those days, locking them away in the deep vaults of her mind. After the Trials she was brought before the High Council and promoted to the rank of Priest, or in her case Priestess. Given an ornate staff, Fayra had it inscribed with her own runes, and those of her chosen deity, Eluria.
War soon broke out between her people and those of the Humans, and Fayra was charged with helping to heal the wounds of her people that were sent off to battle, though she would just as readily heal the injuries of anyone that required her assistance. She cared little for war, desiring peace only. For the next five years she remained near the battlefields, continuing to offer her holy magic. When a treaty was finally signed ending the war, Fayra lent her services to the Humans as well.
For the next fifty years, Fayra traveled into Human lands, acting as a sort of ambassador for her people. In the human city of Atleos, Fayra helped establish a temple dedicated to sharing enlightenment and offering divine services. The temple quickly became a thriving center for cultural exchange, and though it was a small structure at first it quickly expanded in order to house a small museum and library wing. More and more Humans began following the faith, accepting with it all the responsibilities and challenges that accompanied the title of chosen ones.
By now Fayra was just celebrating her one hundred and thirty-third birthday, and she became reunited with her people when she went on to take the second part of the Trials, reserved for only the most devout believers. She was better able to perform now that she had some experience and fortitude behind her, though in her mind she could have done better. The Council promoted her to High Priestess, a title given only to four other Escardians at the time (above the High Priestess is the Grand Priestess, a title held only by one person). As High Priestess, Fayra was charged with teaching young Acolytes about their faith, encouraging them to learn and to help heal the wounds of the world).
For one hundred and fifty years Fayra has remained within the Escardian city of Laea, fulfilling her obligations, but something has drawn her attention elsewhere. Fayra has recognized that the world is not what it used to be, and she can feel a sort of 'change' in the air.
Eternia was in Chaos
About Eternia
Eternia is a small planet much like our Earth, with various continents, each having their own unique geographical features. Life on the planet is extremely diverse, with a variety of dominant species and scores of lesser creations, such as insects and plants.
The advanced races, or those able to form reason and shape the world around them, include: the Escardians, Humans, Dwarves, Dragons, and Faeries. As of late demonic entities have begun surfacing, called upon by some of the shadier characters of the world. It is the demons who have thrown the world into Chaos, desiring nothing but destruction and domination. To them Eternia is a new home, one in which they feel as if they are the Masters and everyone else should be subject to their will.
One particular demon has risen to power above the others, and he has twisted the world with every breath he takes. Far to the north, Melvik has turned the land into a barren wasteland, filling it with horror and violence. He has taken up his abode in a tall castle, one that he claims unassailable by any force in the world. From his throne, Melvik sends out his minions to try and conquer the world for him, and so far they are doing a good job.
Melvik, however, has one goal that he has always kept in mind: the Escardian race must fall. He views them as the only real threat to his power, and has commanded that any Escardian be killed on sight, or otherwise brought back to his castle alive.
Those that he takes prisoner... are never seen again.
For the thread:
There are two main sides in this thread: those who fight against the Dark Lord, and those that serve him. I am always open to ideas / suggestions as far as what kinds of characters can be used, so feel free to drop me a PM if you're interested in playing. I only ask that detailed role players apply (that means at least three paragraphs or more with proper spelling, etc. In other words... no one or two liners.
