Chapter submission still pending

It’s actually a hosted office suite, like Office from Microsoft, or like google docs, free. Not a marketplace for finished works.

You aren't supposed to mention other sites (especially story sites where you sell stories) inside stories either as pre or post-matter. It is part of the site rules.
Yep. Well, except Patreon, with which Lit now promotes an alliance.

My first thought was that Lit had "disappeared" this content because of this mention, but the reality might be that because these works also appear on Lit, that they aren't too concerned. And it's not like these stories have ever generated much revenue for me.

But you can also link to your Amazon account or Smashwords as an alternative to Patreon. But not inside a story, its pre-or post-matter.

Hi everyone,

I submitted the second chapter of my story on 1/7/25, but it stayed in the “Pending” tab for over a week without any updates. I emailed support a week later but didn’t receive a response. Thinking there might’ve been an issue, I removed it from Pending on 1/15/25 and resubmitted it right away, knowing that would put me at the back of the line.

It’s now 1/23/25, and my chapter is still pending. I understand there might be delays, but I’m starting to wonder if there’s an issue I’m unaware of. The word count is around 14k, which isn't super short, but not extremely lengthy either. For reference, the first chapter took 3/4 days to get published.

I’d really appreciate any advice or clarification on whether this is normal, or if there’s anything else I can do to ensure my story gets reviewed. Thanks!
That’s frustrating! Delays can happen, but two weeks seems excessive. Double-check the submission guidelines to make sure everything’s in order, and maybe try reaching out to support again. If it’s a word count issue, they might’ve flagged it for review. Hang in there, hopefully it’ll get sorted soon.

The site in question is Smashwords. I also need to complete the transition of my Smashwords account to Draft2Digital, which acquired Smashwords.

You won't be able to post a link to the site in the story. That violates the rules here and at most free publication sites. And you can have only one site linked for reader support. My publisher didn't migrate to D2D, and I didn't open an account there. So, I'm down to only Amazon and Bookapy for sales currently. However, my publisher is looking at publishing works at Barn & Nobel and others, which are directly cutting out the middleman.

I am frustrated because my works have been in 'pending' status for over two weeks, even after making all the requested corrections and having an editor review them. I wrote to the administration, but I have not received a response. I feel very discouraged and unmotivated to write, despite having many great ideas. I wouldn’t want to leave Literotica and take my work elsewhere, but if I don’t find a solution, unfortunately, I believe that will happen.

I can't begin to imagine how frustrating that must be. One moment you're on that high of finishing a story, you go through the submission process and then... nothing.

That said, I don't think spamming this forum with the same post in multiple different threads will speed things up. Nobody here has any power to solve your problem. We can share our experiences and give you some tips, but in the end the only person who can get your story published is Laurel.

The only thing you can really do is drop her a DM and ask politely whether your stories have slipped through the cracks somewhere.

(Also note that if your story has been rejected and you've edited it and resubmitted, the whole process starts over, with a fresh waiting time.)

Try to stick it out a bit longer, but if there's still no change I don't think anyone would blame you for looking at another site for publishing.

Good luck!

Actually, it's a longer, much longer, wait time.

Hi,

I sincerely apologize for posting multiple times on the forum—I have now deleted the duplicate entries. I completely understand the need for a filtering process, as not everything is suitable for publication, and I respect that. However, it seems like everything depends on just one person, which makes the process quite slow, with very little information available along the way.

I love Literotica—it’s a fantastic website—but I get the impression that it’s becoming a bit outdated and could benefit from some modernization. It’s frustrating that the only way to check on the status of our stories is by emailing a single individual. I have followers asking for more chapters on my novel, but unfortunately, all I can tell them is that the timing of their release on Literotica is out of my hands.

Thanks for your understanding!

Best,
Guarreridas.

On the fifteenth, it had only been in there eight days, which is not that excessive. Was that chapter only your second submission ever? Just give it some time. Lit doesn't have countdown clocks yet, which would be nice I'd guess. Only two minutes for my train, which is better than the old days when it was "it will get here when it gets here."

I'm at 17 days presently. I sent a polite email to the boss last week, but no reply. I'm still wondering if this is a result of volume in the EC category where I mostly submit.

anyway, I'm still patient, if not a bit curious if I can do anything to smooth this out from my side of the equation. My previous longest wait was 5 days I think.

OK, OK. I'll stop whining now...

Emails aren't the way to go. IM's are. @Laural from here is your best bet.

I don't think it's the category. I'm waiting on a romance story for a similar length of time. It stinks, but I'm sure Laural is just really busy. It happens. She has an entire site to run. :)
