I don't know if it would deter, maybe. Thing is if it's chemical that means it can be reversed simply by stopping the treatment. Not nearly the deterrent that surgical would be.
Personally I say you get one shot with an appropriate jail sentence or whatever depending on circumstances and all that.
2nd time they cut your balls off.
You manage to do a 3rd via other methods then fine, you get the needle.

No need for anyone who messes with children. They contribute nothing and prey on the truly innocent. In my world they only get the first one as jail cuz everyone fucks up. You still gotta pay but we'll give you the benefit of a doubt. Once.

Chemical cremation was part of the latest Thomas Harris book.
Harris, creator of Hannibal Lector, made chemical cremation pretty creepy. It involves harsh liquids and constant, slow rolling machinery in a washing machine-like box.
In the book, Harris's machine was constructed of a glass-like material the owner could see through to watch the body of a woman slowly dissolve.
The book is Cari Mora. I recommend it if you're a Harris fan.
