The numbers vary each year.
We started out with about a dozen.
Last year we had approximately 60 attendees (including some locals who just stopped by for a few hours).

I'm sure there would be a number of people that would volunteer! Just be sure to bring GOOD walking shoes. The first year I told a lady that and she didn't believe me. She was very grateful after the trip that I had made her change out of heels.
There's usually a couple different groups that go downtown (usually Saturday). I'll keep my ears open.
