China Security and social control.

I have been to China dozens of times over the last 25 years. In the last few years the creeping growth of 'security' has been increasingly noticeable. I haven't taken either my normal lap-top or phone to China for years because they are routinely copied/investigated. But this time, maybe I just OD'd on security.

Cameras absolutely everywhere but most of all you get these photo recognition mugshots as soon as you enter the country then they are repeated again and again and again - with every credit card transaction for example - and sometimes for negligible apparent reasons. Its totally obtrusive, it is meant to be and is obviously direct social control from the CCP manual

At least I suppose that my monitored conduct is not subject to a 'social credit' score, yet but something snapped. Every resident of China is now an inmate in a digital prison. We sympathise with the Uighars as the worst case. but Xi has built a policed state that only Orwell could dream of .

The problem is not either one of the left or the right; it is from government of all stripes, right left and centre.

I haven't seen that. I've seen the current admin push for the private E-companies to play fair and quit censoring/shutting down anyone who DARES question the religion of progress.

You are right about the problem, it's not right, left or center, it's authoritarianism.

Government force, (threat of violence) by fascist and socialist alike.

That being said, (D)'s have made a SHARP turn for authoritarian leftism in the last few years.
