Don't worry, he was born in Summer. The holiday like many of the "Christian" holidays were invented by priests with their eye more on recruiting pagans than truly religious ceremonies. That's why a christian who spends more time thinking of santa than jesus at this time of the year isn't blasphemous. On the other hand, celebrating his brithday on the wrong day for this long may be one of the reasons he's supposed to be so pissed at the Rapture.

Religious feelings aside, I find the image unattractive for much the same reason that I would find a "dress up the Abu Ghraib prisoner" or "dress up the 'female circumcision' victim" doll offensive. There is no beauty in mocking pain. There is no joy in smirking at suffering.

Totally with you there.

But you know, all this Anti Christian stuff really has hurt me this morning.

I'm really going to get up on one of those high horses right now and I may well fall and break into a million pieces. I have to make a stand for something I feel very, highly, strongly about.

It never ceases to amaze me how people pick on christianity. It's not alright to pick on any other faith, personal belief etc etc but when it's Jesus -woo hoo! just jump on and verbally batter his followers, they're only Christians.

I am not ashamed to say that I would have happily been in with the bunch of protesters. I'd have been there honking for Jesus till my horn burst.

Yes, I know people have done terrible things in the name of Christ. But people do terrible things in the name of Allah, in the name of the devil, in the name of "peace", in the name of politics, in the name of money, in the name of overly violent films and video games.

I also know theres some pricks out there totally buggering about under the cover of the bible. I hate them as much as you. False preachers and Zealots the lot of'em.

I just ask, that as with any other group of people, you don't tar us Christians all with the same brush.

Incidently, Jesus forgives. I am a human so I have these head rushes now and again and I get angry and upset. If this post reflects on anyone let it reflect upon me.

plus I find the greedy, commercial explotation of the celebration of Jesus birth as horrid as the dress up jesus on the cross doll.

And yes, it's no secret that we nicked a pagan festival that came at the darkest, coldest bleakest time of the year to bung our celebration on. it is only a celebration of the day Jesus was born and it made sense to shove a lovely celebration day deep in the middle of winter. It might have a lot to do with pleasing the masses but there you go.

We Christians are humans after all.

Please remember that when you're ranting.

Right OK, EL has purged now. :D

Okay guys this is going to seem controversial and I'm fine with that because after all I'm me. Firstly before anyone starts to get their lilly white panties in a bunch remember we are posting on a porn site so according to the good book by merely entertaining impure thoughs we're damned to an eternity of fire and brimstone. In any case don't hurt yourselves galloping around on those high horses

You know, I really didn't see anyone up on a horse. I saw people expressing their dislike of the site, and that was all there was too it. They didn't say, oh, you can't do stuff like that because it offends the christian way. They weren't trying to force their view points down your throat, they were merely stating their dislike of a site that you put up for public viewing, and as everyone on these forums knows, you will always get positive and negative comments on any thread you start.

Personally, I didn't check out the site at all. I got the gist of it from reading the forum however. I'm not religious in the slightest, and don't give a damn about Christ or god (or satan, sorry Lucifer) and I would still be inclined to agree that a dress up the crusified jesus is immoral. Its comedy value isn't even particularly high, it is simply a bash against christianity.. and if I want to bash a christian I do so with a brick wall *grin* (couldn't resist)

WTF?

I'm not a christian, nor do I follow any other religion or believe in God, but I just find this distasteful.

Double standards? Twisted sense of morals? Probably, but that's just me.

I think Shanglan said it best: "Religious feelings aside, I find the image unattractive for much the same reason that I would find a "dress up the Abu Ghraib prisoner" or "dress up the 'female circumcision' victim" doll offensive. You and your pathetic English humor. Monty Python? What you need are three guys poking each other's eyes out and hitting each other on the head with hammers - now that's funny.

But, here, I'll tell you something else funny. This guy dies and goes to heaven. At the pearly gates, he says, "Hey St. Pete, can I get in?"

St. Peter takes out a picture of this guy putting a pair of high heel shoes and grinch costume on Jesus. He smiles and says, "Sure you can."

God, Jesus, and the holy ghost are sitting there. God says, "Hey watch this." Zap.

This guy is now walking around in a santa suit. Jesus and the holy ghost start laughing.

All the angels and dead spirits are now laughing at this guy too.

Jesus says, "Oh I got a good one."

Zap - this guy is now walking around naked with a harp, red high heel shoes, and a grinch head coming out of his crotch.

The moral of the story: Be careful who you put a grinch suit on.

I'm trick-or-treating as Catwoman this year.

2005 went by fast, didn't it?

I wouldn't say Christians are the only group and I get a bit frustrated when they say it. Yes, all religions have it rough when others attack their worldviews. Some of it is just plain mean. Like the woman yelling "get a life", like the assholes who said that modern pagans should be burned at the stake as well to a pagan friend of mine (they left bleeding, she didn't take it well), like the women who said that new age was the demon's plot and banned her son from playing anything that could be tangentally related to it, like the smug bastards who enjoy telling atheists how they'll burn in Hell no matter what they do. It's all bad.

On the other hand, it's nice to rock back and take life less-seriously. Being the devil on a porn site, mocking your own religion, having a good laugh when someone develops a clever non-malicious joke about yours.

I didn't much enjoy the dress-up game either, but I wasn't going to intrude in the fun of a bunch of atheists, agnostics, and non-Christians. They didn't seem to be getting nasty and my only posts were basically historical with no intention of malice to modern Christians. The first person to tell me about when Christ's real birthday was in fact a devoutly Christian man who was explaining why he didn't get pissed at the commercialization of the event.

Lucifer...ahh I know, I know but it just got on top of me today. I don't normally even look in on these threads. maybe I should go back to not looking.

Honestly? I was in a bad mood this morning and reading osme of the comments on a couple of threads here really got me riled up and unusually for me I didn't bite my tongue and let it flow over me.

I do see your point but it just seems so much more acceptible (around here at least) to have a good old poke at the Christians. Hey I'll deal with it. Many Christians have and do deal with a lot worse. :)

I, more or less, am on the side of people protesting "practice your knot-tying skills on our mini-Matthew Shepard doll with authentic fence!" I think the Jesus dress up doll is tasteless and rude.
