Chrono Paradox

Magus

"Disguise ourselves?" Magus mused. "Perhaps." "But, disguise ourselves as what?"

As Frog pondered this new question, Magus detected a presence nearby. Realizing that someone was attempting to sneak up on them, he prepared to draw his scythe. Executing a well practiced move, Magus quickly turned, bringing his razor sharp weapon around in a great arc that caught their assailant completely by surprise. It would have been a brilliant maneuver, had he been able to kill the soldier before he alerted his comrades by screaming in agony.

Turning to look at Frog, he was met with a fierce scowl. "Sometimes Magus, thou art definitely a pain in the ass!" Frog said angrily. "Now, I suggest we make haste before the entire army is upon us!"

And with that, they ran for their lives toward the nearest ship.

Frog

Frog reached the ship just before Magus. They had had to cut their way through a few soldiers but otherwise had made the dash unscathed. Frog turned and looked towards the guards as Magus reached him.
"Magus... go, find how to control this contraption... I shall hold them off here." Frog said, pulling out the Masamune and awaiting the soldiers to reach him.

Magus

Magus was in luck. It seemed that the ship they had run onto was just preparing to leave. With the sails already in place, all that was needed was a strong wind. Chanting the proper spell Magus summoned a gust of wind that filled the sails, causing the ship to surge forward.

Frog dispatched a final stubborn soldier and cut the mooring rope before making his way over to Magus. "I regret to inform thee that we are already being pursued by the enemy." Frog said, pointing behind them.

Turning around, Magus realized that they had not been quite so lucky as he'd thought. The Porre army had apparently been preparing the entire fleet for an attack on Medina island. "It is not only us who are threatened by this." he said to Frog. "Medina would surely fall before such numbers."

"But what can be done?" asked Frog. "We are but two against thousands." Looking up at Magus questioningly he continued, "Unless thou hast been holding something in reserve."

Magus remembered a powerful spell he had researched during his time as the "Prophet" back on the island of Zeal. He had never had the nerve to test it though. It was a powerful incantation which would invoke all the elements at once. "Dare I unleash such power?" Magus asked himself.

Interrupting his thoughts Frog asked, "What good will it do to repair time, if there is naught left to be saved?" "These barbarians will not be satisfied until their conquest is complete."

Knowing Frog was undeniably right, Magus prepared to cast the most dangerous spell he had ever devised. "I can only hope this doesn't kill me as well." he muttered to himself.

After a few minutes, the spell was ready. Raising his arms above his head, a mass of glowing energy formed between his hands. Opening his eyes, Magus spoke two final words, "OMNI-BLAST!"

A beam of blinding light shot toward the center of the fleet, where it then became a shockwave which annhilated everything in it's path.

The light faded, allowing Frog to see that absolutely nothing was left of the pursuing fleet. He turned around just in time to see Magus collapse to the deck. Checking his breathing and pulse revealed that the mage was still alive, but just barely.

The Epoch was a little shaky, but it still flew. Though it still had enough power for 3 jumps, flight was another power sorce alltogether, and that one was completely shot. Even the backup was runing low, so they made sure to fly as slowly as they dared while they crossed the ocean.

An eternity later they had reached the shoreline of what was once truce village. A shocking sight waited to meet them. Destruction and death, an entire fleet wreacked by some unknown force. And it was recent too. Ships still burnes and sank, and a soldier or two could be seen hanging onto wreckedge.

"This is horrible" said Lucca. "What could have done this?" What indeed they both thought.

Shortly later they landed on Lucca's island, a few meters away from the cold, moss overgrown wreckege of Lucca's house.

As they walked over the uncut grass, they looked around in sad memories. All of a sudden they heard a sound. Chrono drew his sword in case of danger. They stepped closer, parted the grass, and saw.....A pink dog?

"Rough! Ron't arrack me. I'm rust rooking around" it said. Chrono lowered his sword but diddn't sheeth it. Lucca kneled over and pet the dog.

"What's your name?" asked lucca.
"Rough. Ry name is Poshul." he said.

"He's with me" said a femail voice from behind the bushes. "And ya don't wanna mess w/ me" The voice turned into a shadow. The shadow stuck a hand through the tall grass and pulled it away revieling.... "Lucca?"

A girl wearing red dove into lucca, tacling her to the ground with a tight embrace. "LUCCA, it is you. Ya ain't dead! Oh, lucca, ya ain't dead. I've beena looken fer ya. I've been through sooooo, much. Whydya haffa dissapear like at? I've missed ya so much lucca" She cried buring her face into lucca's shirt.

"There's there kid, I'm here now. Aunt lucca's back now" she said comfortingly, putting her hand on Kid's head.

Chrono just stood back, confused.

OOC: I'll be in Dallas for my birthday from the 3rd to the 7th, so I won't be able to post anything. So if Dark Warrior or anyone else needs to further the story while I'm away, I guess Magus will need time to recover from the Omni-blast spell. Just thought I'd let you know.

It's ok. things are so slow that noone will notice that your gone

OOC: Sorry I haven't been posting guys... internet's been playing up.

IC: Frog carried Magus' body down into the hold of the ship and placed him on a table. He overlooked the mage's body, and then bowed and shook his head.
" 'Tis a sad day, Magus. Ne'er would I hath guessed that one day I would lament for your pain. I will do what I can, but these wounds are... somehow, mental wounds..." He said. He looked Magus over once more and then turned to leave. As he opened the door he looked back and thought, "What is wrong with thou, Frog? Why doth you care so about Magus?"

"Ok Kid, enough. We are here for a reason. We're looking for the sunstone. remember it? it's the big shiny orb I kept in the laboratory container?" Lucca was standing over the charred remains of her livingroom desk.

"You mean this thing?" kid asked, pulling the sunstone out of her pack.

"YES!" lucca exclaimed, stepping towared her. "How did you get it?" she asked.

"When we defeated Lavos in the El Nido Archapegio, I came here to salvage what I can. Polshu here found it so I decided to keep it. I hopped Luccia could analize it"

"Ruff!" said pulshu in agreement.

"What? you destroyed lavos?" asked lucca

"Yah" said Kid. "It's a long story, but Lavos merged with some zeal chick named Schala in the other dimention and threatened both, so we had to destroy it." said kid.

Chrono was completely confuzed. Lucca questioned the other dimention and such, but Kid promised to tell later. "Ok" said Lucca. "your probably right. Now we should head back to medina, so Melchior can fix the Epoch." Kid questioned lucca about recent events, but lucca simply used kid's excuse. So they boarded the Epoch (tight squeese, 3 humans and a pink dog). and took off for Medina.

Frog

Frog looked up at the stars as the ship moved silently along the carm water of the ocean. He wondered where exactly they were going; but the knowledge of the ship's controls was out of his level of expertise and he knew there was nothing that he could do.
The dreams he had lately about the Masamune alarmed him. For years the blade had stayed by his side, loyal, but perhaps now it was turning against his ownership.

Magus

OOC: Come on guys, let's keep this thread going!

IC: As Magus slept and Frog contemplated the Masamune, the summoned wind continued to push the ship forward...

But...

The ship was going in the wrong direction. Magus had not had the time to set their course. They were headed toward the place they least wanted to go. They were headed...

To Porre.

Oh God :p

Frog slowly awoke to the morning light shining on his face. He slowly got out of his bed and stretched, before picking up the Masmune from the bedside and sheathing it by his side. The ship's cabins were small, but comfy, and he had slept relatively well, but for the troubling dreams about the Masamune. But by now he was used to them.
He first checked on Magus, and finding the fallen sorceror still asleep, he headed up onto the deck to see their surroundings. As he looked over the edge of the ship he laughed to himself.
"I could swear that looks like Porre." he said about the shore he could see. "But that couldn't be."

Sorry, but I havn't dissapeared yet.

IC; "Hmmm... very interesting. let's see.... if I remember correctly... THERE" Melchior hadn't lost his touch. not only could he repair one of a kind outragerously powerfull, unthinkably rare metal swords, but he could do the same with futuristic, unfamiliar technology.

With a humm, the Epoch rose to full power. Spots that refuzed to repair before instantly fixed, and all the lights shone brilliantly. Lucca checked the instraments. "Well, according to this, we can afford about 396 jumps in time, and sustain 22,000,000 hours in flight. That sunstone is really something" She was satisfied with her work (hey, melchior did all the work) and went to check some more things. First off, locations of any Time portals.

the radar showed nothing. there were no sustaining disterbances in time, WHatever they saw back then was long stopped. "Hey Lucca? What'r ya doin in there?" called kid. Kid's voice distracted Lucca slightly, and she accidently punched in the wrong button combination. Suddenly, the radar flared to life, and 3 blips appeared.

"Huh? what's this?" Lucca asked to herself. She determined that the blips were actually former crewmembers of the Epoch. People with Time displaced particles on them. Lucca looked around. only 2 of them had been through time, herself and Chrono. But there were 3 distinct blips. 2 to the southwest, and one to the northwest. Translating a topographical map to the radar, she determined "THey'r here!"

"WHo's here? talk ta me Lucca!" said kid. Before lucca could answer though, the Epoch's dashboard went crazy. SUddenly a portal opened up behind Kid and sucked her in. "Luccaaaaaaa" she cried before the portal sealed shut. Lucca dived after her,m but only got a face full of grass. She pulled the Time Key off of her neck, but to no avail. there was no portal there anymore. "Kid!" she cried, in anguish.

Chrono put his hand on her shoulder comfortingly. Lucca looked up at him and nodded. "We have the Epoch. We managed to find your mother, we can find Kid. Right now, we have friends in Porre, and they could probably use our help"

Magus

The ship nears Porre and Magus continues to sleep. He is still regaining his strength. For the time being Frog will have to deal with the situation alone.

As Frog realizes that he is indeed nearing Porre, he prepares himself for whatever dangers lie ahead. Fortunately, they seem not to have been noticed as of yet.

"Perhaps I can still discover a way out of this predicament." Frog thought to himself.

Frog

Frog looked out across the waves at what he now could positively identify as Porre.
"How dost this contraption work?" Frog thought, looking around the ship for something to help him. He found nothing, and despairing, he dropped to his knees, his head to his chest. He slowly withdrew the Masamune and held it out in front of him. The blade shone in the sun.
"This may be our last battle my friend." he said to the blade, before standing, the sword still in his hand. "Let us fight to the last!" He cried, noticing now that the ship neared the shore, and had already been spotted and identified as the stolen ship. Suddenly, an arrow flew through the air and crashed into the deck a metre in front of Frog.
"Ack!" yelled Frog as he looked around desperately for somewhere to hide.

A flurry of arrows impaled the ship. Frog was lucky to avoid being impaled himself. He prepped himself behind a door for the next volly when he heard an explosion. Looking out, he saw that the dock was in shambles, as if a bomb hit it.

He thought he heard a faint, familiar voice, but dismissed it as stress, playing tricks on him. Then he heard it again. He concentrated on it and could barely make out the words...

"No, Chrono, you've got to push the "A" button."

CHrono? CHRONO? Frog looked up. High above him flew the Epoch. A sight for sore, green eyes indeed. A lazer cannon on the fusilodge of the ship fired a direct beam at the dock, causing another explosion. When they were safe, at least for the time being, the Epoch flew down and hovered next to the deck.

"Hi frog!" yelled Lucca. "What are you doing in this time period?"

"Now tis not the time to discuss such matters mis Lucca. A hasty retreat is in order" Frog called back.

"Ok" Lucca yelled. "Are you alone?"

"Alas, no. Magus dost sleep in the hold." he called.

"Ok chrono, I'll take over here. go help frog get Magus." CHrono nodded, and jumped onto the deck.

Frog

Frog led Chrono down to the hold, and into Magus' resting room. Together, the two of them picked his slump body up.
"Let us flee this dreaded ship!" Frog yelled above the noise of the explosions. Chrono nodded in response, and the two climbed onto the deck. Chrono climbed into the Epoch and Frog handed up Magus. Frog took one last look at the destruction on Poore's shore.
" 'Tis troubling times..." he muttered, shaking his head, before jumping into the Epoch.

Magus

Magus' eyes opened just enough to see Chrono picking up his limp body. Frog was helping carry him toward the upper deck. He could hear explosions nearby. What was going on? Was he dreaming? He blacked out for a moment.

Minutes later he came to again. He was in the Epoch! "But that's impossible!" Magus thought. "The Epoch was destroyed years ago in the final battle with Lavos." He couldn't understand any of it. He was still light-headed and disoriented.

Again, Magus passed out.

Frog

Frog noticed Magus passing in and out of conciousness, but there was nothing he could do for the wizard. He turned to Crono and Lucca.
"Now, I think an explanation is in order." Frog said slowly. "I thought the Epoch was destroyed...?"

"It was" started Lucca. The ride was cramped. the epoch was designed to hold 3 people, but there was Chrono, Lucca, Frog, Magus, AND a big pink dog in there. "I can't explain it. Some miners found the epoch buried in a cave south of Medina a few days ago. The instraments say it's been there since year 1 BD."

"Alas, tis more confuzing then ever. Canst though know anything else?" asked frog.

"Well, not really. Acording to the history books, 1007 years ago, there was a major disaster that split the land asunder and created the continents as they are now. I read somewhere that a Nu was related to this incident. as soon as we can, I wish to go back and see just what happened." Chrono nodded in agreement.

"Ro, Where we ro?" asked Polshu.

"Our instraments say that one of us is in the north, near the ruins of Truice village." said Lucca. "We think it's Marle. Besides, we needed to go find her anyway." she said solomly. Chrono's eyes fell in sadness.

Marle leaned against the tree and closed her eyes. She didn't feel to well. She hadn't fully healed before she started off in search of Chrono again. She felt dizzy and over heated. But she had to find him, she had to!

Frog

Frog sat silent, brooding over the current situation. His eyes fell on Magus. He did not know why he still trusted and even cared for the man. With that, Frog looked up towards the heavens.
"Cyrus... please forgive me." he muttered under his breath.
"Look, look!" Lucca called excitedly, pointing to the radar of the Epoch. "They're just down below us now!" she said, regaining her composure. "Let's bring this rustbucket down..." She said, laying her hands on the controls and bringing the ship downwards.

OOC: I figured since Magus will be out for a little while longer, I'd add to the storyline elsewhere. I don't think this will interfere with any of Cryo's ideas.

IC: Meanwhile, at Porre castle...

(Since they're trying to conquer the world they must have built a castle by now, right?)

Kneeling before the man on the throne, the Knight Captain proceeded to give his report.

"My lord, the two responsible for destroying our fleet were just about to be captured, when a strange flying vessel appeared and rescued them."

"It flew, you say?"

"Yes sire." replied the Knight Captain. "We were unable to stop it." "Our arrows simply bounced away."

"Did you happen to see who was piloting the Epoch?"

"The Epoch, sire?" he asked, confused.

"Just answer the question!"

"Of course, sire." "I saw a woman wearing large glasses and a man with spiky red hair."

"So," he said with a smile, "not only will I have my revenge, but Belthasar's time machine as well." Turning his thoughts back to the present he barked an order to the Knight Captain. "The invasion of Medina is no longer our main priority." "I want that ship captured intact and it's crew taken prisoner." "Do you understand?"

"Of course, sire." he replied with a salute. "It shall be done."

As he left to carry out his new orders the malicious laughter he heard behind him caused him to shudder.

OOC: Until the party meets up with this villain, I'm going to keep his identity secret.

Frog

" 'Tis Marle!" Frog exclaimed as the epoch touched down. As it did, all the nearby people ran in shock. Marle was stumbling around in front of a tavern. As they looked, she collapsed.
"Ack! She has fallen! Hurry, Crono!" Frog cried, before running over to Marle. He grabbed her by the shoulders and shook hre gently.
"M'lady! Marle, wake up! 'Tis Frog!" he said to her. Her eyes half opened and gave him a bleary, confused look, before shutting once more. At that point, Crono arrived.
"Crono, help me get her into the Epoch!" Frog said, and the two of them picked her body up once more. "How many more must we help in this way today?!?!?!?" Frog exclaimed as they neared the Epoch. Crono laughed.
"And how many more can we fit in the Epoch?" Lucca exclaimed, her arms in the air.
"Tis a tight fit, but one we must endure!" Frog said as they lifted her body into the Epoch.
Lucca pressed the controls and the ship once more flew into the sky.

"Frog, do you still know Cure 2?" Lucca asked desperatly.

"Indeed, but I hath not enough MP to use it" frog said. THey had no Ethers or Elixers in their inventory.

"Prease. Ret me!" said Polshu. He attacked Frog wth 2 3-ratio attacks, than used a level 6 Light Heal. None of them had ever seen technique like that.

The Level 6 heal recovered 800 Hp to marle. At 9999 max, it wasn't much, but it was enough to let her rest comfortably. Frog would have been angry with the attack he had to endure, but it only caused about 60 points damage, and Polshu explained why it was necessairy.

It's interesting. Pulshu is at a maximum level, and considered one of the powerhouse heroes of the El Nido Arcapegio. but he did nothing to Frog with his powerfull attack. At least the magic is somethings.
