Classic Xmen

Wolverine

'Sorry Ororo', Logan thought as he raised a hand. He'd seen Jean up there and knew she was pulling them up, but looking at the land and how fast they were going towards it he knew they'd never make it in time. Sharply, but not hard, he layed a slap across Storm's cheek, wincing as he did so. 'Wake up, girl.... wake up!'

Gambit looked at the sentinels and smiled at them as cards appeared in his hand. He looked at them as one of the cards began to glow and hum seconds before he threw it, the card hitting the sentinel in the chest, causing it to fly away from the cable that was holding Wolverine to the Blackbird. He then heard a sound to his right and turned to see one of the sentinels cutting into the cable with a small laser.

"Oh no you don't mon ami, dose two stay wit' us- dey are part o' dis group!" he shouted before he threw another card, blasting a hole into the chest of the sentinel.

He smiled when he saw the sentinel fall to the floor of the plane but the smile disappeared when he saw the five sentinels that had just replaced the one that he had destroyed. Gambit looked up at the hatch where Wolverine and Storm were and shouted out, "Come on Logan, get your claws down 'ere and 'elp us. I can't do all da work for you!"

Story Progression

The plane careens, almost knocking Gambit from it. The only thing keeping it from crashing to the earth was Scott's skill as he fought the controls. Suddenly, the windshield burst inward as one of the sentinels crashed through even the specially made glass after Cyclops.

Wolverine and Storm were being pulled back toward the plunging plane but their progress was not fast enough. The plane jerked as the sentinel that had come through the window jerked the controls from Scott's hands and the plane dived into the trees, the sudden motion throwing Jean, who was not secured, back down the hatch to slam into the floor of the specially modified jet. Jean felt the warm trickle of blood from her forehead moments before she blacked out.

Wolverine was able to see the trees coming and had one chance to grab ahold of a large branch coming straight for him and Storm. If he didnt make it, the branch was going to hit him with a force that would damage both of them. While that was not a problem for Wolverine, Storm was another story.

Gambit's skill allowed him to jump onto a large branch of another tree as it zoomed past the plane. He landed safely but he had company. Three sentinals appeared in the branches with him, each one ready to tear into the cajun theif.

Scott was now faced not only with a plane that was now crashing through the forest but a sentinel of his own to battle and another was pounding on the glass on the other side of the plane and would soon be in to join the first.

Wolverine

Logan reached out for the branch. Twisting so he and Storm wouldn't hit, but would pass under, his arm slowing them down. "Raaaagh!" he cried as his arm was ripped out of it's socket and dangled uselessly next to him in the air. No longer able to hold on due to it's dislocation they began to fall, much more straight down thanks to the rapid deceleration the branch had provided.

Managing to twist his body so that he would take the majority of thumps, Wolverine cradled Storm with his one good arm. Crashing through the canopy and landing with a dull *whud* on the ground, the two small figures did not yet move as the sentinels converged on their area.

Storm.

Awakening, I scream, not in fear, but in some sort of primordial urge. It wasn't explainable. My scream eruptily stopped as we hit the ground, Logan taking the force of the fall.

My eyes began to focus, my vision absorbs all the light, and with that, shapes began to form.

I felt the steady breathing of Logan beneath me.

Then it hit me, sentinels, they were plummeting towards us, their fearlessness and programming had them spiraling towards us, regardless of their fate due to gravity.

Thinking quickly, my voice boomed, with a mental groan, my hands raised to the sky. "Heavens bring me winds."

Looking to Logan, he writhed in pain as his body began to heal. My eyes flashed in fury as well as with the sheer force of my power.

With the sound of a rushing train, winds began to form above us. I got to my feet. My hand open, my fingers began to close into a fist.

The winds mimicked my move, closing in upon the sentinels. The sound of metal crushing echoed in the forest. I looked back to Logan again, rushing to him, I helped him to his feet.

The Blackbird was above us, spiraling as the Sentinels had, only moments before.

I gave a quick glance to Logan, he nodded, letting me know it was ok to leave him there for the moment.

Taking to the air, "lend me your force again Mother Nature," I just hoped that I could hold the massive beast in the air.

Scott Summers (Cyclops)

OOC: sorry but i've just been really buisy lately, i'll catch up now

IC: i fell back against the cockpit door, i looked at this thing...it reminded of the sentinals we used to fight, and if it was i could take this thing down with a couple blasts.

I quickly jumped up firing a blast off at its neck, it barely pentrated! what the hell!?!?

i quickly got myself together before it tried to grab me. I quickly jumped out of the cockpit through the side of the window.

Looking up at this giagantic thing i fired at its hand, i blew off some of its fingers, i did so to the other knocking all of its fingers off...this was gonna be tough...bit by bit i would have to blast it.

I focused and fired a beam at its chest knocking it back, i looked around, i tapped my intercom quick jumping up into a tree to fire at the sentinal again, "is anybody there, come on people, you gotta be still alive...." i said as i tapped my intercom again jumping away from the sentinal's arm knocking down the tree.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the isle...

OOC: Please note, none of your characters is aware of this post's information. I only add it to contribute to the story as a whole.

Maria Embolissa watched the screen with a smile on her face as the Blackbird made a hard landing on the jungle floor. Her readouts indicated that all 5 mutants had survived the crash, which did not surprise her overmuch. She had gleaned much information from Xavier's mind during their brief contact, so she knew these mutants much better than they would have thought possible.

Their arrival was unfortunate in its timing, but she felt confidant that her Sentinel minions would slow them down long enough for her true plan to come to fruition. The others on the Council had tasked her with the gravest mission they'd ever undertaken, and she would complete it, even if her life were forfeit to its success.

Jean Grey

Jean fought her way back to consciousness and found she had to blink away blood. Raising her hand to her head, it came away wet, red and sticky. Not good. She had a bad headache. Much worse. It ment she couldnt concentrate enough to use her powers.

Then she noticed that the plane was moving erratically and her heart lept with fear. Scott! Something had happened to Scott. Willing herself to stand, she stumbled to the cockpit to see the windshield smashed and the pilot's seat empty. Oh God! Please let him be okay.

As if in answer to her silent prayer, she heard his voice over the intercom and knew he was alright and away from this flying death trap. He must have thought she had gotten out and not have seen her lying there out cold.

Moving to grab her med kit, she had a full view of the plane crashing through the trees. Something seemed to be holding it up but, with no pilot she wasnt sure how long it would last. Grabbing the kit, she bolted for the hatch again the adrinaline flow overcoming the shakiness of her knees. It took her a time or two but she managed to make it to the ladder and then up.

Having to duck branches that threatened to take off her head, she finally made it up onto the top and looked around. There, on the left was a low tree that had not grown tall because the other trees were shading it too much. Just right for a semi soft landing. Prayer would have to do the rest.

Trying to time it just right, she grabbed the med kit tighter and lept. The feeling of being in mid air with nothing to support her was heart stopping and then she was flying through the branches, most of them tearing at her hair and clothes, gouging her skin and slapping at her face. Closing her eyes for a moment to prevent them from getting poked out, she forced herself to look so she could stop her fall.

Seeing a branch at the lower end of the tree, she aimed for it and bit back a cry as her ribs connected, bent and she heard them crack. The wind was knocked out of her also and she was left gasping for breath. Finally, painfully she pulled herself up onto the branch and looked around. The sentinels hadnt found her yet. But it was only a matter of time.

She breathed shallowy, trying to focus on something besides the pain in her ribs. She didnt think they were broken. But they were at least bruised if not cracked. Great. A cracked head and damaged ribs. What else could go wrong? On second thought it was better that she didnt ask that question.

Hitting the intercom, she said in a slow, unsteady voice,"Here. I'm here. I'm just not sure where here is."

Wolverine

Static came through the broken helmet, a metallic hiss that echoed in his bleeding ears. Growling, Logan ripped the helmet off and pushed himself to a sitting position with one arm still held close by his side. The tendons and muscles under his damaged shoulder knotted and flexed as his body sought to repair itself and the pained grimace on his face evidenced his struggle not to cry out.

Staggering to his feet he made his way over to a tree and leaned back on it for support, breathing coming easier by the second. Just a couple morer minutes and he'd be pretty much alright. He hoped they had a couple more minutes.

The sound of Sentinels crashing through the forest was getting closer and he didn't like making snap judgements as to how soon they'd get here.

Storm.

(ooc. The Blackbird isn't plummeting, my previous post stated that Storm was gaining control using the winds. Sort of confused by some of the posts as to where people are )

Lingering a moment longer to summon up my strength, I didn't know if anyone was on board, and I wasn't waiting to find out.

The wind swirled below the giant craft, springing it to life, as if the engines where running. I spotted Jean. SHe was struggling, and so was Scott.

I heard Gambit nearby. My head whirled in the diretion of the heavens, lightening surging through my body. What on earth was going on?

The overgrown sentinels began to advance on Jean and I was using every inkling I could to get the plane steady.

"WOLVERINE, GAMBIT" I yelled into my com, "Help...quickly."

Wolverine

"I guess I have to be better now." Wolverine growls through gritted teeth. Pushing himself away from the tree he tests his arm. Hurts like hell but it functions. Bounding up to the Blackbird he begins climbing a large tree using his claws to anchor himslef in as he goes up.

"On it Storm! Keep the plug-uglies off my back!" that said he makes his way over to a branch nearest the hatch and looks up, "Jump Jean! I got ya!"

Jean Grey

OOC: She is out of the plane and in the trees now.

IC: Jean roused herself and sat up precariously on the branch. Calling to Wolverine who seemed not to realize she was out of the plane and safe. At least as safe as she as she could be considering there were sentinals around.

"Logan," She called to him,"I'm here. Below you." At that point her eyes caught a movement behind him and she yelled out to him.

"Behind you!," Without thinking and headache forgotten she concentrated on the sentinal and pushed him away from Wolverine. The sentinal was able to resist being thrown but she managed to hold it off long enough for her teammate to react.

Story progression

OOC: This is partly to enable the story to continue while Angelus, Dirk, Lava, and Black Widow catch up with us. The characters that have been captured are the ones most capable of escape on their own. Now, we will have one group out in the woods and one in captivity.

Cyclops was the first to fall to the new 'evolved' Sentinels, they came at him in wave after wave, guided by their mistress who was determined to capture the leader of the XMen above all else. Gambit, seeing Storm fall prey to an energy net, which quickly cocooned her, was captured trying to save her.

Having achieved the capture of half of the XMen, the Sentinels removed themselves and their captives to their lair, within the Master Mold Sentinel itself. There were yet many Sentinels in the jungle, but the wide-scale assault on the XMen was over... for now.

Wolverine was able to track Jean Grey, finding her barely conscious, hidden under a tree. They were the only two XMen left free.

Storm.

I was suddenly overwhelmed, lightening danced in small beams around my face.

I began to summon fog to give us cover, when I was captured. I was bound in some sort of net, but not of physical means, not of rope.

I struggled in the rope, I was relieved though that I was still able to see outside the netting.

My face turned towards the sky, the blackened sky erupted in a twisted dance of lightening.

Fog swirled around like a closing fist, I glanced , noticing Gambit getting tangled as well.

(ooc. Sorry, but this is my perception, correct me if I am wrong)

The net swallowed him, and placed him in the same 'chamber' as I was, Twisted, Gambit flashed me an unwaring smile,
"SOrry, mon chere, we will be out of here ..."

Gambit lay atop me, trying not to crush me. "LIghtening won't affect this. What is it?" I asked him.

Wolverine

"Jean... Jean" Logan whispered urgently, "I need you up and active girl, I can't deal with 'em all by myself. I need you here, Jean." The admission was as painful as seeing Jean laying on the ground, blood dripping from a scalp wound.

"Cripes." he muttered as she fluttered between consciousness and stupor. Putting her over one shoulder like a delicate sack of potatoes Logan softly disappeare into the underbrush.

'If I can disappear in the Canadian Rockies, ' he thinks as they cover ground bit by bit, 'I can sure as hell find a place to hole up in this jungle.'

Several long minutes later he spotted a deep hollow in the earth. Investigating it he found it was a large den of some sort large for he and Jena to hide in. Sniffing the air he caught scent of an animal.... not sure what.

'One things for sure. Somethin's gonna come home and not be happy with it's guests. I guess I'll have to burn that bridge when I come to it.' his thoughts turned to more immediate danger and he began silently rearranging what surrounding brush he could to disguise the entrance. Some bushes just got pushed a bit. Maybe a rock moved over a foot or two. Once or twice digging a plant out by it's root and sticking it in the ground next to another plant to give the illusion of a larger one. When things were finally done to his satisfaction he wormed his way into the small cave.

"You okay now Jean?" he asked, seeing her eyes shining in the darkness. "We'll go get the others, soon. I just want you to rest a bit first."

Jean Grey

Jean's eyelids flickered and she groaned a bit as she tried to get a bearing on where she was. She raised her hand to her throbbing temple and drew it away red with blood and then the memories flashed back to her and she sat up with a bolt which caused her headache to flair up.

Grabbing her head, she looked around and her eyes fell on Wolverine.

"Logan?," She said and then she stood and begin a frantic search of the cave she was in,"Scott! Storm! Cyclops! Where are they? What happened to them?"

Inside the Master Mold

As the captured XMen were being flown to the lair of their enemy, they caught sight of an amazing thing: a giant Sentinel which has become a sort of building-sized emplacement on a hillside. Dozens of the strangely mutated/evolved/changed Sentinels can be seen moving in and out of it through various portals and doorways. This is obviously a Master Mold Sentinel, a giant Sentinel with the capacity to create more Sentinels.

The Sentinels carrying Scott, Ororo, and Remy move through an opening in the Master Mold's chest, and land inside. Each of them sprays an XMan with gas, and soon, everyone is unconscious.

An unknown amount of time later, the captured XMen awaken, finding themselves imprisoned inside of glass tubes. It immediately becomes apparent to them that their powers are being neutralized somehow.

As they take stock of the situation, a woman walks calmly in to where they are held. "Hello, mutant scum!" she calls out, in a cheery voice. She appears to be an aged, bald white woman, dressed in British khaki fatigues. "So glad you could drop in."

Wolverine

"I'm sure their fine, Jean." Logan said as reassuringly as he could. "Just lie there for a bit and we'll go after them. Don't get yourself all worked up or I swear I'll hold you down. You are in no condition to be making a foray into hostile territory."

Logan's stern look made it clear he wasn't joking in the slightest.

Inside the Master Mold

Their captor tapped her foot impatiently, "Now, I know you mutants aren't asleep still! Wake up and talk to me, or I fry you all like bad bacon!" An electric jolt shot through their cages, letting them know her threat was not an empty one.

Jean Grey

Jean lay back, her eyes deep with worry. "Logan, we have to go get them," She said,"Something that can capture the Xmen is something very dangerous. Storm, Scott and Gambit are three of our strongest. We are up against something really bad this time."

Reaching out to take her medkit, she sits up, winching at the pain in her ribs and begins to take out items to clean her forehead. Once the crusted blood was removed her wound begin to bleed again. Handing a tube to Logan, she said,"I am going to have to have you use this to close the wound. It is a bonding agent the Professor created. I can't see to do it."

"There is nothing I can do about the ribs but bind them after you are done. Pain meds would blur my mind and right now I need to be able to use my powers to help you help the others."

Wolverine

"I'll help fix you up, Jean. But we ain't goin' anywhere for a few hours. You know head wounds mess you an' Baldie up somethin' bad. If I have to give further reasons I will but you won't like me much after 'em girl." Logan pushed her down and began to use the binding agent, sealing her wounds.

After it set he wrapped her ribs firmly and use some of the sealing agent on the ends of the wrap. "Hey, I don't want all my handiwork comin' undone just cuz you decide to turn while you're sleeping. Now you ARE going to sleep for a coiuple of hours. You don't have a concussion, just a nasty bump, it'll help you regain better control and you know it. Now sleep or I'll use this" he brandished an anesthetic that he had found in the medkit, "to help you do it. I don't wanna, but I will Jeanie."

Jean Grey

Jean was about to protest but the headache that was pounding behind her eyes and Logan's words showed her the futility of such an act. As much as she was worried about Scott she knew the sense of her teammates words.

Smiling at Logan, she settled back as best as she could. "Okay, you win. But you have to promise to wake me in a couple of hours. We can't afford to waste time."

Curling up, she drifted off to sleep not hearing if he promised or not, her body taking over and forcing her to go into a state that it could heal itself.

Storm.

(ooc. I got infected with a nasty computer virus, took a long time to pinpoint it and fix it. I apologize with every fiber of my being.)

I stared with a blank glare. Suddenly we were transported. I found myself in a small glass enclosure. The silvery taste of fear and panic swelled in my throat. I strangled gasp edged near my lips, but I held it back.

I tried to activate any of my powers, it became difficult, as if I had none.

I looked to the others. My hands began to tremble. I felt enclosed, so closed. It didn't matter that it was glass. I needed out.

OOC

Guys, I am busy as all hell at school these days, and am no longer running any of my threads... However, I REALLY like this thread, and think you are some of the best people I've ever posted with. If everyone still wants the thread to continue, and promises to try and keep it going, I'll make time for it, somehow.
