"Even though you're hopeless at chasing." Fiona said as Sam promised to look after her no matter what. "I thought Samuel Ghis would catch me much sooner than he did."

"What I lack in speed, I make up for in bein' stubborn," he insisted before he finally let her dress. He glanced around them, the morning slightly foggy but quickly burning away in the sun. He whistled once, and Kennah came sprinting from afar only a moment later. And right behind her was Roman.

"Kennah..." Sam sighed, knowing she'd probably gone to get Roman overnight. But he didn't have any room to talk after he and Fiona had stolen away for the night.

"Your drake knows how to get my drake out of his stable. We're in trouble." Fiona said as Roman chased after Kennah with delight, bowling into her and Sam the first chance that he had.

Kennah seemed calm, in a much less stern way than usual, and Sam could only laugh and kiss her snout. "If I see a baby drake in th' stable in a few months, you're in trouble." She simply nuzzled up against his cheek and he let it go.

Roman purred and rumbled, hugging Fiona tightly as Kennah greeted Sam. "Hello, beastie. Have you been roaming all evening? David won't be happy if you broke anything at the farm."

Roman simply sat back on his haunches, pulling Fiona into a hug with his hands. He'd learned it from watching humans and werefolk, especially when Fiona hugged him.

Sam put his saddle on Kennah's back and pulled the straps into place before looking to Fiona. "We'll go down together on Kennah so y' don't have to try to hold on without a saddle. Then once we're down... Where t'you want t'eat? Th' Erygonian village is closest."

"I missed you, beastie." Fiona whispered as Roman hugged her tightly and she grinned at him before pushing him away by the head. "We have sex one time and you're already bossing me around."

Fiona grinned at Sam as she took the makeshift harness from him and wrapped it around her waist, hooking herself into the saddle on Kennah's back.

"Wherever is close and good." Fiona glanced at Sam and gave him a smile. "Erygorian food is just as good as any."

"Suara's asked about you, y'know," Sam told her as he climbed up and Kennah turned toward the cliff. "She wants t'make sure yer doin' alright. Apparently she believes yer as much a member o' the tribe as anyone else."

"Suara doesn't need to worry about me." Fiona said as Kennah started to the edge of the cliff, Roman snaking his way down the front of it before her. "If I want to join one of the tribes, I will. I just don't know if I will right now."

"She doesn' expect you to. She jus' wants t'take sure you're alright. She's a part of my family too, y'know. Has been since after her people an' Inverness made peace."

"I'm not sure where I want belong." Fiona said as Kennah went over the edge of the cliff and she held on to the harness tightly. "If I even belong with a tribe. There's so much that I missed growing up because of my Da."

"Well, maybe you'll find a place after you go to Sweden," Sam offered. "At least for my sake... It was a lot easier to find my place once I had my family's help."

"And what if I decide my place is here with you?" Fiona asked, glancing over her shoulder to Sam. "Where do we belong?"

"I know where I belong as far as my career... But I'm still no' sure where I belong as for home. Sometimes I feel like I'd like t'give with the Erygonians, or even on my own somewhere removed from town an' the villages. I'm no' sure yet, love."

"We can decide together." Fiona said as they made it to the bottom of the cliff and Roman greet Kennah with a deep rumble and a nudge of the head. "Beastie, leave her alone."

Kennah gladly nuzzled Roman back for once rather than acting like a soldier with Sam around. Sam could only chuckle, helping Fiona down and letting her take his saddle for Roman. He could ride nearly full speed bareback, he was so attuned to Kennah.

"Let 'im love on 'er. She's too serious, like me. An' if 'e earned her attention, I won' stop 'em." Sam smiled to Kennah and earned a nuzzle from her too.

"If you're wanting to breed drakes, the two of these lovebirds will give you some handsome ones." Fiona said as she fastened the saddle into Roman's back and got herself harnessed. "Just be prepared."

Fiona gave Roman his lead to run, the drake aiming towards the village and towards the breakfast that her stomach was begging for.

"I wasn' plannin' on it, but they migh' not give us a choice. An' where drakes are concerned, I'm pretty sure Suara told me both parents stick together and look after their hatchling. So we'll probably never get these two apart again. I migh' have to arrange for Roman t'get a place in th' keep's pasture."

"That would break Silas's heart. He loves tending to Roman and the other drakes. It's his favorite activity." Fiona said, speaking of Sam's nephew who loved all things horses and drakes. "However, a small hatchling might be good for him. Something he could grow with and learn to ride."

Once they entered the village, Fiona guided Roman towards the only dining place in town. It was fairly quiet as most of the men and women had already gone on to do their morning chores. Fiona unbuckled herself and pushed Roman off on his own.

"I think I could eat them out of house and home right now." Fiona said with a grin towards Sam.

"Go for it," Sam chuckled and pressed a kiss to her cheek before one of the werepanthers came over to greet them. He exchanged with Sam in rapid-fire Erygonian, a language Fiona only knew pieces of as her father had never taught her and Ephriam had only rarely spoken it. Then the Panther switched to English.

"Chana is making venison with greens and potatoes today, and Unvim has bread and cheese for you while you wait," he explained with a pleasant smile.

"All of it sounds delicious. And maybe some raw meet for the drakes? They've been running in the woods all evening." Fiona said, glancing towards Roman and Kennah as the two chased each other in the field next to them.

She grinned as Roman upended Kennah and hurried off like the goof that he was. Roman was like an eager puppy, romping and playing with the drake that he loved the most. As Kennah rolled across the grass, Roman bounded around with his head held high and his tail flicking low across the tall grass.

"What am I going to do with him?" Fiona asked as she pulled the quilt out of the saddlebag and spread it on the ground, waiting for Sam to return with the bread and cheese.

"Apparently they got plenty of sleep if he's chasing around like that," Sam thought aloud as he brought the bread and cheese. "I'll bet she didn' waste any time goin' t'get 'im."

"Well, we were up late but still had energy to romp around this morning." Fiona commented with a sly smile towards Sam as she leaned across the quilt and kissed his cheek. "I'll talk to David about leaving the shed unlocked. I would hate to think that she broke into the barn to get to him."

Fiona took a piece of the bread and some of the soft goat cheese, biting into it with a deep sigh. It was the most delicious thing that she had ever tasted.

"I doubt she would've broken it. She's a smart lass," Sam chuckled as he turned to watch his drake curl up beside Roman. She wasn't nearly as energetic, but she still wanted his attention.

Fiona grinned as she took another bite from her bread, leaning her head against Sam's shoulder as they watched the drakes finally settle down beside one another in the tall grass. Roman nuzzled against Kennah, purring to her as they basked in the morning sun.

"This is a lovely little life." Fiona murmured softly. "I might be able to get used to this."
