She had always been quite different from the family. First off, she didn’t look like anyone. First off, she was too short and she didn’t look like any of her parents. Her hair was black and had the underneath had been dyed teal. She had pierced her ears and under her lip. But it wasn’t out of rebellion. It just had felt right. She rarely wore the few skirts and dresses she owned, preferring to wear the boyish outfits lying around her room.
For Harley, she did what she wanted, because it felt right to her. She wasn’t the type to stand out from the crowd, even with her wild looks. She never caused trouble. She never… well, she never even connected with the family. It wasn't for lack of trying, it was for the fact she was so different. Just... more observant than participating.
Her parents were never mom and dad. She called them by their first or last names. She never even referred to her brother as her brother. Well, that was only because she was confused as to deal with him. He… he never seemed to register as her brother. A friend? A pal? She didn’t know for sure. Harley was very detached from them, even having her room in the attic. She turned it into a little home, having a fridge, freezer and working toaster and toaster oven. At the moment, she was wearing her biggest sweater which revealed her shoulder and black bra. Loose and baggy pants hung low on her hips.
Books of all sorts littered her floor, as newspapers were used for rugs and the worn out and broken furniture used for her own satisfaction. She hadn’t cared the bed was uncomfortable and the springs broke through the fabric. She didn’t care the table was missing a leg. Nope, her room fit her perfectly.
But… her parents had left for a business trip… leaving her brother in charge while they were gone. She let out a frustrated sigh. Sure, leave her alone with him while her stomach tightened when she saw him. When she could barely contain a blush when he looked at her. No, she wasn’t safe alone with him. She was afraid something bad would happen.
But what it was… she didn’t know herself.
