CNN/YouTube Democratic Debate

Well, you knew it was coming. Either that or "no Social Security" at all.

I agree with em though, eliminate the cap on SS tax.

Stupid question but where do they keep getting this "rich country" BS from. If we were rich we wouldn't have trillions of dollars in debt. It's a total contradiction in terms.

Yes, they're not counting how much we're leveraged.

Pfffffft, doesn't matter how much money you make...if you can't pay your bills you aren't rich. Richness denotes having an excess of funds. We have the potential to be the richest nation in the world certainly if the damned politicians knew how to balance a checkbook.

As a percentage of GDP, the national debt hasn't changed much in the past 20 years. The current problem is that we owe a big slice of the debt to forgien governments. In the past we owed most of it to domestic investors and retirement programs that bought bonds.

That's pretty seriously messed up.

Nahhh...most of the men in my family consider their guns their "babies". It's really not that unusual a sentiment among gun enthusiasts.

This was an excellent debate format.

Agreed...just wish I hadn't missed most of it thanks to a massive blonde moment. Totally forgot it was on.

That was Rici's fault for starting the thread late.

The "gun ban" is the messed up part.

I know guys who call their swords their babies. So I'm no stranger to weird weaponry. The way the question was phrased was creepy.

It was meant to be I'm sure. You can bet that more than one person with an interest in gun-control sent in questions. The fact that it was creepy was likely deliberate. All media is biased, (there's no such thing as neutrality anymore just how obvious the spin is), and if the debate had been on something like Fox they'd have had a well dressed, well spoken man asking the question and some creepy nutter asking questions about things like gay marriage.

Nah. I'll start following things when there's a bit less than 12 months before the election.

I enjoyed it for the format. Questions asked by people who submitted them on YouTube.

Very nice.

I know. Color me less than convinced. I've been following the debate online and the last half pretty much consisted of people asking "Well, what are you going to give ME?!". I wouldn't mind it so much except I'm one of the folks from whom they're going to take that money. Well, they are, too, but I'm not sure a presidential debate is the place to be teaching YouTubers about basic economics. Or maybe it is, but not this particular one.

Primaries are in February

*shrugs* And?

Look, I know right now that only two folks on that stage actually matter. Their party and the media decided that months ago. So I can wait until November or December to hear what they really have to say.

I think just the opposite. Now is when you will hear what they have to say. By March the two parties will have chosen their candidates and all you will hear is the party line and promises that won't be kept.

That's all you ever really hear though.

I love how Fixed News is toutting Obama because they know that if a black man runs for president he doesn't stand a chance.

They are so affraid of Hillary it isn't even funny./

Hillary in 08!

Side note: I saw a car with a Dennis Kucinich bumper sticker on Friday.
