Coming Into Los Angeles

Mr. Customs Man ...

~Arlo Guthrie~

I remember one wonderful night in college - too many years ago! - with what must have been 30 people or more hanging out in the hallways in the dorm - one guy with a guitar... playing this song and everyone singing along... and yes, we were all partaking... and I couldn't imagine feeling much finer!

Coming in from London
From over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

There's a guy with a ticket to Mexico
No, he couldn't look much stranger
Walking in the hall with his things and all
Smiling, said he was the Lone Ranger

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

Hip woman walking on a moving floor
Tripping on the escalator
There's a man in the line
And she's blowing his mind
Thinking that he's already made her

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister Customs Man

Coming in from London
From over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

Coming into Los Angeles
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please

I am going to be in LA ...(attending the Internet World conference).

I thought the Internet WAS a World Conference?

I used to work cruise ships to Alaska that left out of Vancouver, and I'd stay over a day or two to see some buds doing TV up there. (It most definitely is Hollywood North.)
One thing I found interesting about TV production up there -- it rains ALL the time, but it's such a fine misty rain that it often doesn't show up on camera. So many episodes of X-Files were actually shot in the rain, though you may not have noticed. Watch for actors blinking a lot or wiping their brow as the drops collect on their lashes.

It is... you'd think that those of us working in internet related businesses would be able to use the Internet to avoid conferences such as these! *lol* But it actually is quite an interesting event - you can find out more about it at http://www.pentonevents.com/spring2001/ and you can register for the exhibit hall at no charge... A lot of companies exhibit software/hardware/services and its pretty interesting - at least I think so. If nothing else you'll walk away at the end of the day with a lot of free t-shirts... *grin*

The X-files always seems wet/dark/cloudy --- it fits the show very well though I would guess the actors get pretty tired of it... I'd love to see a filming someday...

If you want anymore info - or might even be interested in coffee/lunch - bring Laurel/Manu with you for protection if you want - let me know...

How about a trip to LA? *grin*

Well, since no one seems to remember that I live in the area, or care that I am free that week -- there's a Mickey D's on almost every corner, Dillinger.

Bon appetit.

I remembered Creamy one... and I was hoping you'd be interested and post here... Mickey D's isn't my thing though.. perhaps something a bit... healthier?

I thought I was forgotten. Of course there's healthier food than Mickey D's; that was a curse on you for forgetting me, but consider it lifted.

Forget you? The first friend I made here? Not very likely! I do hope that this is an indication that you would enjoy meeting?

Schedules permitting, yes. When I say "free," it is a conditional free, depending on the chaos appearing on any given day.

I can certainly understand that... my availability is fairly flexible... evenings better than days though since I will be attending the conference - but even so, I'm sure I can adjust my schedule...

Okay. We can email each other with details later. Evenings, in general, are better for me, too. Fewer family crises.
