Comment posting only allowing posting as anonymous (although logged in)

Very odd problem, just seen about 1130 CDT

I'm logged in, but doesn't matter any story I check (I checked 4 random ones)...it says "log in" at the bottom left and the only option is "anonymous" at the right.

Did a full system cleaning (browser, cookies, cached images + full system) plus rebooted...no change. So it appears it's a new site bug

Very strange. Checked and can verify it happening with me; When i try to log in it says 'you are already authorized'.

Just a hunch, but a lot of sites have the main site and forums under different login sessions/keys internally. So it sees the one is active but the other isn't, thus it barfs.

Confirmed. I just looked at a couple of stories from my favourites list, and I only have the option to comment as anonymous. There's an option under it to log in, but when I click on that it says I'm already logged in (which of course I am).

Think i found it. It's new beta features they're doing for mobile and such. Going back to 'Classic' fixes this. It's in the upper right corner of the page.

Went ahead and left feedback that the comment section had this issue through it's own feedback system. Not suggesting you flood it, but it probably is a totally different set/team.

So it is possible to comment, by a couple of extra clicks on the page. Switch to Classic view, drop the comment in, and switch back to New. It's a nuisance, but a temporary workaround that's not too much trouble. I also reported it as a Widespread Inconvenience.

The previous comment I had posted was on the 19th, when this problem didn't exist, so it's brand new.

Not sure how old/new it is since i haven't left comments on Lit since... 2001?

Looks like it's FIXED yay. Now at the end of a story I get my username, as before.

Try forcing a reload. Ctrl+F5, or log out and log back in... or switch to classic and back. Be nice to know it is good everywhere (and should be). If not probably send the feedback.

Though it looks okay on my side.

Thank you, as I too have this issue, and switching back to Classic worked.

The new comment is visible in the category comments feed, and in my author feed, but if you just go directly to the story, it's invisible.

Sometimes it doesn't show up for a while in the default OLDEST FIRST, but you might see it if you choose NEWEST FIRST. Just another lag problem.

There's always a lag between comments showing up in your feed versus showing up under the story. Story updates need the next refresh to happen, whereas your CP should be immediate.

True, but I made one of the comments four days ago and it's still not displaying on the story. The lag isn't usually that long.

No, it certainly isn't. That's weird.

You want weird also? When I go to my control panel, my comments, and click on a story I've recently commented on - then change from just my comment to see all comments - hey, I've only got anonymous again, if I want to add another. But from any other way of going into a story, my username's there and available.

Aaand it's changed again. When I go in that way, I can now post under my username.
