It isn't, necessarily. Assisted suicide for terminal, elderly is okay. And I'm not one to judge another's pain. People can get moralistic about it - like they do every freaking other thing - but suicide isn't something for another to judge. Grieve yes.
The practical problem with suicide is one shuts out all other potentialities. It is a permanent solution that allows room for nothing else - literally an all or nothing deal with it. And while some may find the idea of death comforting... it is the final comfort. So to speak.
It's a big decision and ironically usually those who are contemplating it aren't in a clear headed state.
