BOSTON —
Sales of firearms will be allowed to resume in Massachusetts on Saturday, according to a preliminary injunction issued Thursday by a federal judge.

Gov. Baker had excluded gun shops from the list of essential businesses allowed to continue operations during the coronavirus emergency. A complaint filed on behalf of gun shops, individuals and Second Amendment groups challenged that decision.

"The Plaintiffs bringing this action do not mean to minimize the severity or urgency of the coronavirus pandemic," they wrote in the complaint. "The exigencies surrounding this viral pandemic both justify and necessitate changes in the manner in which people live their lives and conduct their daily business. However, this emergency—like any other emergency—has its constitutional limits. It would not justify a prior restraint on speech, nor a suspension of the right to vote. Just the same, it does not justify a ban on obtaining guns and ammunition."

There's a lot of expanding diapers right now within the pathetic left.;)

Essentials for who and what? :)
Gangs in Chicago to keep killing each other?
White dudes who chase&shoot Black joggers?

Of course.
People in Chicago always jog over to Massachusetts and buy their firearms.

It's essential in maintaining some semblance of a constitution.

Chicago can't police up illegal guns.

White dudes were in Texas, those white dudes will appear before a grand jury.

Common sense.....in Massachusetts?

Not gonna happen. Be like a person rejecting a transplanted organ. It just won't take.

Cant shoot fast food employees without guns.

Good for them.

One's initial thoughts are obvious: no problem bankrupting small businesses by calling them nonessential, but you gotta protect those Walmart and NRA donors.

But then - I just heard on the news, that Michigan's State representative had to be escorted with rifles into the State Capitol, after "heavily armed White protestors, some carrying swastikas and nooses, swarmed the Capitol building, asking for re-opening."

What's your take on all this? Mine as an outsider:
--Aren't some State on the brink of civil war? So is opening gun shops wise?
--And given the already hyped up mood (never mind health matters),
don't you feel like wringing the neck of the "don't wear protective masks in shops cause freedom" morons and agitators?

You have a mask hang-up. They're easy to spot and avoid. It just doesn't bother me all that much.

Associating the opening of the gun stores with those at the capital building is a mistake. Those folks already have more guns than they can carry. The closing of those stores didn't inconvenience them in the least. That issue is a subject of constitutional law and has more to do with the average citizen. Emptying the jails to protect the criminals doesn't do society at large any favors. Property crime (theft) has jumped significantly locally as a result of that decision. Hell, if enough people "arm up" the thieves may decide they're safer in jail. :)

I think you are also misreading the swastika's and nooses symbology. That's what they think of the governor, not what they are associating themselves with.

As long as those brave defenders of the Constitution go to the gun shop wearing their protective masks and openly displaying any other guns that they might happen to own, I'm happy.
