Computer Problem: Irrational machine is powering off at will.

Thank you very much Blue. I did as you suggested and all was well - I was surprised actually. I haven't had a problem since I moved the laptop so air was free to circulate under the fan area.

I do leave my computer on all the time, I suppose that's not the best thing to do. Given what you said about batteries I don't know how it isn't fried. I still am going to have it looked at just as a tune up if for no other reason.

If your sure that your PC is virus free and at least the few "needed" updates that M$ has released (the one Im thinking of specifically avoids remote procedure calls...which will shut your pc down if your online) then I would begin to say you may have an issue with heat build up. After having your laptop cleaned out and using the little table you said its still going off. Unfortunatly at this point in diagnosis, there is little lleft to do but replace the battery, although you may be able to throw it in the freezer for a couple of days (this is an old trick) to erase the "memory" build up that all rechargables get. I found a neat little cooler that isnt very expencive that may improve the life of your puter though
