Consequences

"Sure, we can watch a movie," he said as Nicole started to head over to the couch. "Last time I checked that was an activity I did with some friends." He listened to her question on what kind of shows he liked. "Ohhh, that's a good one," he said as he leaned back a little bit. "I would have to say documenteries. Just straight up documentaries and news. Sports, local and national news, the weather. Can't live without it. The TV at my place is always on the weather channel before bed," he said looking at her with a serious straight face for a moment before he started laughing.

The look he was getting on Nicole's face was very entertaining, he thought to himself. He wasn't sure how to describe it. "I'm just kidding," he said, "I'm not that big of a nerd. I like dramas, comedies, action. Not a huge fan of the horror genre," he admitted. "Not that it isn't scary, it just lacks creativity. Dramas and action shows and movies need to be origional and shouldn't be more than 5-7 seasons long on the TV or more than 3 movies. Comedies need to be the same. If it get's too repetitive," he said, "I'll just lose interest like crazy." Kyle looked over at Nicole after sitting up and taking off his badge and gun, setting them down to get more comfortable. "Well, I'm not kidding about the weather being the last channel on though. I like being prepared."

"So, hopefully my being armed isn't a problem, is it?" he asked pointing over at his gun. "Like, you're not one of these 'guns are evil' kind of person, I hope. So what other questions do you have?" he asked giving her a flritatious smile.

Nicole let out an exasperated breath of air before busting up, laughing. She shook her head and without a second thought, after he put his gun and badge on the coffee table, she lay on the couch and put her head in his lap. "You almost had me there.. and I understand what you mean about being prepared. It would be a crime for you not to be." She said, sticking her tongue out at him.

"No, I don't have a problem with weapons. It's the idiots that don't know how to use them are a problem for me." She said, in a matter-of-fact voice.

"Hmm, let's see...questions, questions..." she thought a minute and then spoke, "OK, what do you look for in a girl? I mean, what are your turn ons and offs?"

Kyle gave a smile when he heard that question. "Well, in all honesty, I was hoping I would run into you again when the party was dying down. So that should tell you most of my taste," he admitted. "Aside from looks, I like people who are honest, willing to communicate and can support me in the decisions I make to better myself or others. The problem with my ex was she didn't want to support me trying out for the FBI and that was more or less the nail in the coffin," Kyle mentioned with a bit of sadness in his tone.

"As far as turn offs," he started to say as he started to run his fingers through her hair, "stuck up people. Believe it or not, I wasn't always this good looking growing up. Part of the burden of having that happen. But I did get turned down quite a bit by the stuck up pretty girls." He looked down at her and smiled, "luckily, you didn't turn me down. Though alcohol might've been a factor. Someone who's selfish, narrow-minded, doesn't contribute. You know, the usual," he told her. "So what about you, Nicole? What do you look for in a person? And, as a bonus question, what kind of music do you like?" he asked as he stuck his tongue out at her playfully.

While he waited for her answer he tried to relax as much as possible. He hadn't remembered the last time he had the chance to just lay back and relax, talking causal with somone of the opposite sex.

Nicole giggled softly when he said he hadn't always been that good looking. She stared at the ceiling as she listened to him, letting it sink in. "No, I don't think it was the alcohol. Trust me, I remember most of that night. I remember running into you earlier and loved your smile when you told me to not to bump anymore people."

"And I think I'm the one who's surprised you did what you did that night. Besides saving me a headache from having to wait for a taxi and letting me...stay over in your room." She said, smiling up at him.

"As for what I look for in a person...well..." she was quiet for a few minutes and then closed her eyes as he ran his fingers through her hair, "I want someone who's caring. Someone who cares not only about me, but also about others. I want someone who won't lie to me. But then, I want someone who is willing to understand me and my quirky ways. Annnnd, also, someone who can understand that my family is waaaay beyond not the typical family. But as far as that all goes, he has to accept me... weird family and all."

She opened her eyes, "as for music, it's umm...complicated. Remember I said quirky." Nicole giggled again, "I like anything and everything...from death metal to opera."

Kyle let out a sigh as she mentioned her family. "Oh trust me, I know they're not typical. I don't think typical families get to have armed security most of the time at the taxpayers expense," he added. "So, aside from your taste in music," he started to say as he looked down at her, "what other quirky ways do you have?"

He thought about it for a moment while waiting for her answer. "As far as my taste in music, I'll listen to just about anything, but not country. It just puts me to sleep," he said as one of his hands started to rub her side. "Outside of that I don't think I have any other quirky habits, at least none that have been mentioned to me," he told her. "So, any ideas on how much your family is going to flip once they find out about you being knocked up?" he inquired.

"Other quirky bits about me are something you're going to have to figure out over time." Nicole made a face at him as she continued to listen to him. He didn't like country where she did. That was sort of funny, but then again, he didn't seem like a country guy.

Nicole sat up at his last question, "Knocked up?!" She made a face and didn't exactly know how to react to that. "Well, first off, I don't think I'll want to tell them in those exact words..." sighing, she leaned back on the couch and shrugged, "I don't know what's going to happen or how I'm going to tell them. I can probably predict my father is going to lose his mind and my mother...oh God, my mother is going to have a shit fit, that's for sure. But, in the end, it's all my doing and my responsibility...well, ours," she corrected herself. But really, she wasn't sure when to tell them. Before the state dinner coming up or after? Perhaps when she was further along...

Picking up his hand that was closest to her, Nicole placed Kyle's hand on her stomach, "are you ready to see me all fat like, no longer able to fit into my current clothes?" She asked, not looking at him.

"Ok, ok, I'll make a mental note to not use the term 'knocked up'. No promises though," he said as she sat up. "Poor choice of words on my part. I apologize, I tend to not be so politically correct at times." He felt her move his hand to her stomach. It was strange to comprehend for a moment when she asked if he was ready to see her fat due to the pregnancy.

"I'll take it one day at a time," he said as he looked down and smiled at her. "At least it's not like you're sitting at home eating 50 lbs of something completely unhealthy. You'll be getting fat due to certain circumstances," he said as he hoped he was finding the right words. "Look at the bright side," he told her, "you'll have a reason to go shopping."

He used his other hand and poked her nose, hoping to make her smile some. "If you really wanted to, we could go and elope, that would give them a reason to lose their minds," he said jokingly. "Just tell the media they had other things to worry about and the mayor's daughter eloping didn't seem important to them." Kyle started to sit up a little bit. "So, is this what we're going to do for the whole day?" he asked inquisitvely.

Nicole had to laugh when he mentioned eloping. It was a crazy idea indeed. But marriage wasn't something she was ready for... at least not yet. Which was crazy because here she was, 'knocked up' as Kyle had said earlier. "That's just nuts..but, you're right about the media, though..."

"So, this is what we're going to do for the whole day?"

"What?" Nicole asked, scooting closer to Kyle and leaning her head on his shoulder, "You mean hiding out and doing nothing...?" She said, running a hand up his thigh, "Did you have an idea of what else we could do? Besides, just sit here? Weren't we supposed to be watching a movie? But I guess we could read something..." she tried not to laugh.

"We can hide out all we want, just as long as the boss doesn't find us," he told her with confidence. "That just means you don't answer your phone if or when your paretns call." Kyle let out a soft moan as she moved closer to him. "I purpose we wait until one of your siblings fucks up, that way they get put under the spotlight, we slip them the 'bad news' and the media has a field day determining what's true and false," he suggested to Nicole.

"Doing nothing is doing something, just not the most proactive way," he said in response to her comment. "We can still watch a movie," he suggested as an option. "The reading idea isn't that much fun right now. I mean, you'll eventually want to read pregnancy books and I..." his voice trailed off as he was speaking, "...I have to read manuals and check my gear today or tomorrow. I'm taking over for a training officer with a new rookie for some extra pay. And as much fun as reading someone their rights are, it still needs to be revisited," he explained with a saddened sigh.

"And I need to get a pair of handcuffs since mine still haven't been replaced from an incident a few months ago. Damn," he said as he started to remember what he had to do. "Want to do some shopping for some handcuffs?" he asked Nicole with a blank expression on his face. He was wondering if she was going to suggest some special handcuffs. "You can always come over and we can have dinner while I make sure I have everything for Monday if you want. Maybe you'll get to see me in a real uniform and not a suit or causal dressed clothes," he hinted, "though, someone's father did shoot down the idea of letting us have breakaway pants."

"Wait..wait," Nicole sat up, "How did you get handcuff shopping from what we were just talking about? AND, what do you mean incident from a few months ago?" She was totally confused from everything.

This wasn't what she had in mind tonight but still, she wasn't mad, just confused.

"And far as my older brothers doing something wrong.." she shook her head, "yeah, it's not going to happen. They're angels in my father's eyes. Both up coming lawyers, never have time to come home."

Nicole growled in frustration, though she didn't know why she was frustrated. Before Kyle could say anything, Nicole jumped in his arms, "Let's shop later, right now, fuck me." She said as she kissed him hard.

"Well, thinking about reading made me remember I had to re-read manuals, which lead to me working as a training officer on Mon, which reminded me I'm missing gear that happends to be handcuffs," he explained. "It's all there, just not in a normal set order. It's one of my quirks," he added playfully.

He watched as she jumped in his arms, letting out a grunt as she did so. "A few months ago I helped the narcotics team with a raid and one of the people tried to get away so I tackled him and cuffed him. Then I forgot about my handcuffs until recently," he said to her. "I figured I'd just get a new pair since they were kind of old and a pain to use."

He thought about the last words that she said before he explained that little story. "So, Nicky, where would you like to be fucked at? This apartment is kind of small but are we going with just the bedroom or is there somewhere else you had in mind?" he inquired as he felt her body.

"Yeah, maybe we could start in--- wait," she said, cutting herself off, "What do you mean helped the narcotics team?!" She pushed herself out of his arms, her face showing her confusion, "But you said you had a desk job. I mean, I understand you helping out with other cases now but-"

Why was she upset? It was from before they met. Before they knew each other. Maybe it was because she'd heard stories that had didn't end well of drug busts gone wrong. "Are you going to keep helping on these sorts of busts in the future?"

"Well?" Nicole crossed her arms in front of her and waited for him to answer.

Kyle was a little surprised when she pushed herself out of his arms. He was hoping that this wouldn't be a sensative subject for her. "If I need to, probably. If I'm told to, yes," he said. "I worked up from being a patrolman to making sargent my first time through. I spent time working with guns and gangs and then some time working with narcotics," he told her. "Now, I have a desk job. When you're the new fast-tracked individual, they usually want you to help with other areas."

He pulled her close and kissed her gently. "Nicky," he began to say, "a desk job is a desk job. It doesn't mean I can't do other events. If that was the case I would've never met you." He gave her a kiss as he held her hands. "When I was working that night, I was undercover, acting as an extra pair of eyes to any threats near your father."

He could tell she was still upset with this new information. He was hoping that she would have to understand how flexible his position was. "In the last six months, I've done a few training operations with the county and Air Force, helped train new people, helped out at like five different functions," he told her, "so there's a chance I might get stuck doing something else besides sitting at a desk. I am careful in my job, especially when I work other things that aren't as fun, like working patrol on Monday." He decided not to tell her just how much involvment he had in certain cases since he figured she would just get more mad and frusterated.

It took a few minutes before Nicole nodded, letting it all sink in. With a sigh, she looked up at Kyle, "OK, I'm sorry... I get it.." she took his hands in hers, "I'm sorry..."

Nicole kissed him back, "I guess I just don't understand what threats people have been all up in arms about lately. I mean, it's something that comes with the territory, right?" She was going to say something about her father but decided not to. They were still learning about each other and well, this was just part of who Kyle was. She had to get used to it. Besides, he had more of an exciting job than she did.

"So, do you wa--"

There was a knock on her door and Nicole gasped suddenly. Who would be here...actually, she never had visitors or random people come to visit.

Knocking again followed by, "Nicky-baby?"

Shit. "Damnit it...the Senator's son," she said.

"What's he doing here?" Kyle asked, a bit curious. He helped Nicole get up off of him as he stood up. He put on his shield and put his gun on to where it was fully visible. "Feel free to answer the door," he told her. "All he's going to see is that you're talking to a cop and I'm doing a follow up on bringing you home from last night. I doubt he'd want to place himself as the person who ditched you after trying to be aggressive," he said as he started to look more professional.

He thought about it for a quick moment and told her to go get changed if she wanted to. He was debating answering the door for her or not. Either way he made his way to the center of the apartment to make sure the Senator's son knew he was there.

Nicole looked down at what she was wearing. She went to the closet and grabbed a sweatshirt jacket and tossed it on. Looking over at Kyle, Nicole took a deep breath before opening the door.

There stood James, holding a small bouquet of flowers. Just the garden variety flowers one would get from the grocery store. And one of the things about Nicole was she didn't like flowers.

Giving her one of his shitty, confident grins, James walked in, not waiting for her to invite him inside. Although, he did pause when he saw Kyle standing there. Turning to Nicole he handed her the flowers, glancing back at Kyle again before speaking, "Hey Nicky girl, how's it going? Who's this?" He asked, this time not looking at Kyle.

"What do you want?" Nicole asked, shoving the flowers back at him, "This is Kyle." Was all that she offered about Kyle, not to be mean but she didn't feel she needed to explain her guests to anyone, let alone james, "You have a lot of nerve coming here after what you did the other night."

"Kyle, huh?" James regarded Kyle and then turned to Nicole after seeing the badge on him, "I suppose you're here because of what Nicole told you right?"

"James, stop." Nicole said and reached for handle of the door, "Just leave. I don't feel like talking tonight. Or any other night."

But James wasn't leaving. Instead, he just stood there, "Nicole, ,come on, can't we talk?" It really wasn't a question but a statement as he put his hand on the door, pushing it back closed.

Kyle was hoping that James would be more cooperative than he was showing. This was his weekend off and the last thing he wanted to be doing was filing paperwork. He looked over at James and introduced himself. "Hi, James," he started to say as he pulled a pen and notepad out. "I'm Detective Kyle Williams, New Port Police Department," he told him as he pointed to where his badge was. "I'm doing a follow up of Ms. Mason since she was abandoned last night and one of the departments individual's brought her back home."

He flipped a few pages as he found a blank one. "Do you have any idea on who would push someone out of a vehicle and leave her out in the streets half naked on a questionable part of town?" he asked politely, "because if you do, feel free to stay and answer some questions. If not, then I suggest you honor Ms. Mason's request and leave the area or I'll have you charged with tresspassing along with making a threat against an individual."

Damn, what a time to not have any handcuffs on you, Kyle thought to himself. "Ms. Mason, please come over here away from him in case he feels like being non-compliant," he told Nicole. He watched as she moved out of the way. "So, Mr. James, are you going to help me or are you going to show yourself out? If I have to show you out it will be in the back of a black and white and the judges usually don't call on the weekends to see if anyone should be able to post bail." He was hoping that James would just wise up and leave.

Nicole wasn’t sure what the hell had gotten into James. Was he just now showing his true colors, even after their first, if very, few dates? He certainly wasn’t the guy she had first met at the family picnic a few months back. If anything, he was a total dick.

James just smiled and stood up straight. He was a firm believer that no one could touch him because of who his father was but, now wasn’t the time to be in trouble with the law. “OK, fine…” he shook his head and opened the door, “I’ll call you later Nicole.” Was all he said before staring Kyle down as he closed the door behind him, leaving.

After he left, Nicole was still standing off to the side, not sure what to do, “Well,” she started and sighed, “That was embarrassing…sorry about that. I didn’t realize what an ass he was or that he was coming over here at all.”

So much had happened tonight that it was exhausting Nicole, both mentally and physically. Looking at Kyle, she smiled weakly, “And here I lied to you, telling you I’m a complete bore. Seems things have gotten interesting lately, huh?” She walked over to Kyle and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Thanks for that.”

"So was that the guy who ditched you last night?" Kyle asked out of curiosity as soon as James left. He unhooked his gun and badge again, setting them back down on the coffee table. He also put his notepad on top of it with his pen. "Who is he, exactly?" he questioned as he saw Nicole come over to him.

"Yeah, I wouldn't say you're lacking in the drama department right now," he pointed out as he wrapped his arms around her. He leaned down and kissed her forehead as she leaned against his chest. "So, did that jerk just kill the mood?" It didn't bother Kyle too much if it did.

"Definately need to get some handcuffs on the way home," he said as he looked down at her. He started to caress her sides as he continued to hold her.

"That was Senator Green's son, James," Nicole said, imitating her father before smiling, "He's the setup created by my mother and James' father. We went on 2 dates before that night he did what he did. He seemed nice that first night we met, but after that, he's started to show his true colors."

Still leaning against his chest when Kyle asked about James killing the mood, she only shook her head, "Of course, he's not even a second thought."

"Unless he did for you?" Nicole grinned and took his hand, brought him over to the kitchen, "Well, let's see... we've already done it in the bedroom and then the shower... in the mood for the kitchen?"

"Hmmm," Kyle began to think, "a senator's son. A well known one at that," he mentioned. The senator was a very public person who enjoyed the camera and sound of his own voice. His thinking got interrupted when Nicole grabbed his hand and took him over towards the kitchen. He was a bit surprised at how high of a sex drive she had.

Kyle was a bit disappointed and he was hoping that Nicole wouldn't hold it against him. "Actually, yeah, he kind of killed the mood for me. At least for a while," he mentioned. He still ran his fingers through her hair and looked at her emerald green eyes. "I think we should, in all honesty, get a quick 72-hr restraining order so he won't be inclined to show back up. I know it sounds stupid, but I've seen people say no and then something happens and they wish they did do that. Absolute worst case, I know a judge that will sign off on an official one today if you want."

He sat down in one of the chairs and pulled her on top of his lap. He knew what he wanted her to do was a bit more than what she probably wanted to do. While he was waiting for her reaction he was also wondering if there was a way to exploit Senator Green's son to help with the costs of having this child, if they really needed the money.

"A restraining order?!" Nicole exclaimed and tossed her head back, taking a deep breath before taking Kyle's face in her hands, "Kyle, it's OK. He won't come back and even if he does, he won't try anything. He's not that stupid, besides, if a restraining order is placed and the media gets wind of it..." That's all she had to say regarding that thought.

Leaning forward, she kissed him on the lips as she ran her hands down his neck and then down his shoulders, "Don't let him kill the mood..." she said, in between kisses, "He's just some rich asshole who thinks he can have what he wants." She wondered if it was a good time to tell him that she was going to the state dinner with James...

She continued to kiss him, determined to get his mind off of the whole situation and just concentrate on her and what she had to offer him..

"Then they would know someone filed a restraining order against the senator's son. They wouldn't know who the victim is and if he tried to come out and say it was you it would look like a petty attack against your family for some stupid reason," he told her. "It would probably do more damage to him than you," Kyle stated as he looked directly into her eyes.

"So my purposal is this," he started to say as she ran her hands down his body, "why don't we spend the rest of the day shopping for some things that we both need. Then we can get some groceries, you can come back to my place and we can make some food and I should be back in the mood by then to make some good quality love to you," he told Nicole with a small grin. "I'll even let you buy some clothes to sleep in and for tomorrow so you won't have to do a walk of shame," he told her as he looked her over. He waited for a moment before hearing what her answer was.

"No...," Nicole shook her head at the restraining order, "It's not going to be good. Once my father finds out, the senator finds out...it'll be OK, leave it. Besides, he's sorta my date for the state dinner."

Her eyes brighten at his suggestion and she lightly slapped his arms, "You had me at shopping, food and sex." She smiled and got up off of him, "Let me change."

Disappearing into the bedroom, Nicole threw on an outfit and got ready in record time. Deep down, she was dreading the day when she couldn't wear her regular clothes anymore but that was still awhile away. Reappearing, she grabbed her bag, "Ready?"

"Seriously?" He asked as he heard that he was going to be her date to the state dinner. "I'll have to double check on if I'm assigned to that on Mon. but if I am," he started to give a slight grin, "maybe you can ditch him and we can recreate the other social event we met at."

He felt Nicole gently slap his arms. "In that particualr order?" he asked as he watched her get up. He was amazed at how quickly she had moved. No sooner than he had grabbed his firearm and badge, she was already out and ready to go. "After you, my dear," he said as he made a final check to make sure he had all of his belongings.

They headed to a mlitary surplus store where the person recognized Kyle right away. It was pretty straight forward with what he wanted. He got a few pairs of handcuffs and made sure they worked before they headed out to get some clothes for Nicole. After spending some time finding something for him to see her in lately, which he wasn't allowed to see, they headed out to get groceries. They spent a good portion of the time talking about growing up. Kyle had mentioned that he was an only child, he had always wanted to go into police work and that he grew up not having a strong work mentality.

When they got into the car from clothes shopping he looked at Nicole and asked, "so, did you want to go to an adult store or should we just go get groceries and then head back to my place?" he asked. He was a bit curious to what her answer would be. With the way she was showing interest in him he figured he'd be more surpised if she said to skip the adult store.
