Conservative lawmakers propose bills to placate idiots

No, I was calling for greater accuracy on the part of whoever put together the table. Counting states that did not exist as having been members of the Union is just wrong, especially since they could have easily included a third category: States that did not exist until after the Civil War ended.

It's the Old South, i.e. the former CSA states, that were the worst offenders of black civil rights, particularly in excluding Negros from voting through poll taxes and literacy tests which were rarely applied to whites in those states. It was also in those states that Negros formed significant percentages of the potential electorate, unlike mid-western, western and northern states.

Even if you only use the states that were part of the Union or CSA in 1865 the percentage of republicans in the former CSA voting for it still remains 0%.

Not going to individually quote all of that because.... Yeah....just no.

If you've called him that in the past and I've missed it I applaud you.

Take your applause and shove it up your racist sexist ass....

I'll refrain from calling you names because your antics like sinking your teeth into an idea and twisting it about looking for a trophy kill regardless of the facts presented to you is mildly amusing at best.

If you'd actually read any of the historical facts I've previously posted you might just get it. Instead you choose to spout off that it's "because I (liberal insert derogitory term here)said so".
'
There are no facts presented....just "IT'S RACIST *stamp feet*!!" just like you and the SGT here.

These restrictive laws were struck down as discriminatory, SCOTUS flipped section 5 down to congress to be updated to fit current times, then several states implemented these laws again (WI included).

So WI was deemed constitutional a few weeks back now it's not? Because what I saw said TX's law was unconstitutional which makes me think it was how it was written and not the fact they want ID.

Pretty much what the court says so is so.

Obviously, that doesn't make voter ID racist.

I do giggle when you say our courts make their decisions on "feelings and stuff" and that there's no discussing involved prior to their rulings.

Then explain exactly what about the law makes it racist other than a bunch of liburhulz saying so.

Congrats on knowing better than people well versed in such things. (Insert gif of cats wildly applauding your superior intelligence over the courts and attorneys that specialize in these issues here).

I never said I did....I said I don't see an explination as to what about this makes it racist beyond "I sayz so!!" *liburhul foot stomping*

1st of all they aren't asking all people to universally show an ID. They're only asking people who show up to vote at the polls to show an ID,

They are asking people who vote to show ID yes, all of them including white boys, so it's not discriminating against minorities or women.

and not just any government issued photo ID, select photo ID's. And that's the first pillar of why this is racist. The ID's that are approved heavily favor white people. They'll take a CCW permit but not a state college ID.

OMG!!! can't buy mouthwash or booze with a college ID among many other things a college ID won't get you, must be racism!!

Are these ID's you speak of that favor white people (standard state ID available for free at any fucking DPS/DMV/DOT/PSO building in every fucking state) somehow not available to minorities and women??? I went and got mine when I was fucking 10 AND a minority, 22 years ago, in TEXAS.

Do these voter ID laws somehow prevent minorities and women form attaining these ID's or make it harder for them to get over a white male?

Millions of adults live their lives without a government issued photo ID, and they're usually poor people. They go to work, get paid, have a place to live, buy groceries, but do it all without a government issued photo ID.

They don't buy a whole bunch of things and they generally work illegally.....because it's damn near if not completely impossible to get a legal job with all your paperwork sorted out without a state issued ID and SSN/TID#.

Thus the point of voter ID....if you don't have one then there is a really good chance you're not actually participating in this society appropriately and you can blow your vote out your ass, go get a fucking ID.

The only reason Republicans want them to have a photo ID is because it's a hurdle a good portion of them won't have the time or resources to jump and then won't vote. That's the second pillar of their racist plan.

What minorities and women can't spare a few hours of there lives every decade or so to go get a fucking ID like the other 99% of society? Then fuck EM!!!

Doesn't make ID law racist or sexist. You're just scraping for bullshit because reasons.

Why do we need an ID to vote? I've never had to show one, never, and that's been since 1982!

I know others that have been voting since before I was born and have never had to either.

Why is it, all of the sudden, important to have an ID? Suspected voter fraud is a fraud in itself: The numbers back it up.

Again, they are only asking people who vote in person to show ID. This disproportionately affects minorities. Hence the racism.

I live in Orlando, Disney employs more people than anyone else in the city. You don't need a government issued photo ID to work for Disney.

Why should people have to pay a poll tax and take a day off for work for a photo ID that they only need to vote?

The best analogy I can make for you is imagine two people running a 400 meter race on a track. One person has to jump over hurdles and the other doesn't. Sure they both run the same distance, but one person's course is much more difficult than the others.

Why do we need an ID to vote?

Because the people of the State of __________ say so.

I've never had to show one, never, and that's been since 1982!

I know others that have been voting since before I was born and have never had to either.

Good for you! Stay in NY and vote against voter ID laws in your state.

Why is it, all of the sudden, important to have an ID? Suspected voter fraud is a fraud in itself: The numbers back it up.

Because the people say it is....

What's that got to do with anything? If it's a fraud then nothing will change.

Again, they are only asking people who vote in person to show ID. This disproportionately affects minorities. Hence the racism.

How? Why?

They are prohibited from using the same laws to their advantage that white men use? Where? Show me where minorities and women are prevented from getting the SAME fucking ID white men go down and stand in line for hours every several years for. Show me where they are PREVENTED under penalty of law from using the EXACT same system the white man uses.

I live in Orlando, Disney employs more people than anyone else in the city. You don't need a government issued photo ID to work for Disney.

But you do need ID and a TID/SSN#.....

ID requirements are different for all kinds of things, as long as they are standard in voting and the laws are applied the same way to people of all color than asking for a certain standard of ID isn't anymore racist than "No ID, No booze, No exceptions".

Are our alcohol and tobacco laws discriminatory because you need ID to get them?? ID for regulated substances is racist against women/minorities right? RIGHT????

Why should people have to pay a poll tax and take a day off for work for a photo ID that they only need to vote?

They aren't paying a poll tax and they don't have to take a day off work except in SGT's special scenario cuz want to scream racist laws!! when not racist, just not good for DNC. ;)

If that were the case, but in this situation put into an analogy would say that anyone wanting to run on the track has to have x number of hurdles, in every lane.

There is nothing about asking for ID that singles out minorities or keeps them from voting.

The decision was quite complex, but one of the most significant new questions that will now follow the case as it returns to a trial courtroom in Corpus Christi is whether the Texas legislature will again be found to have passed the 2011 voter ID law with the specific purpose of discriminating against blacks, Latinos, and poor residents of the state. U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzalez Ramos had struck down the entire law, finding that its purpose was explicitly discriminatory.

The ruling by the panel on Wednesday had several key parts. Here, in summary, is what it ruled:

First, the 2011 photo ID requirement is illegal under Section 2, because of the negative impact it has on the voting opportunities of minorities and the poor.

The Wisconsin requirement, one of the strictest in the nation, is part of a state law enacted in 2011 but mostly blocked by various courts in the interim. A federal trial judge had blocked it, saying it would “deter or prevent a substantial number of the 300,000-plus registered voters who lack ID from voting” and would disproportionately affect black and Hispanic voters.

A new 206-page report from by the non-partisan Government Accountability Office [PDF] finds that Republican-enacted polling place Photo ID restriction laws in states such as Kansas and Tennessee resulted in lowered voter turnout among African-Americans as well as younger and recently-registered voters.

The study will likely serve as yet more important evidence to rebut the disingenuous, cherry-picked claims by Republicans over the years that Photo ID voting restrictions do not affect minority participation.

HOW???!?!

Once again we come back to just saying it doesn't make it so no matter how PC it is.

Are these voters incapable of getting down to the DPS/DMV like the fucking rest of us?? Are they prohibited from attaing an ID like the fucking' rest of us??

Just a few, but you know better.....

I never said I know better ya illiterate fucking sow....I said esplain it beyond "racist because said so!!" show me where the racism is. Point out where this law keeps minorities and women from voting or getting an ID.

Not where it inconveniences a bunch of fucking degenerates who are to fucking good to go get an ID like the rest of us.

And the Republicans are using "Voter Fraud" as the reason to push for voter ID. IF they say you need a "Voter ID card," it's time to vote them out, because that's just a 21st century version of a poll tax!

The people or "THE REPUBLICANS?" They're the ONLY ones whining about it!

Last time I checked Republicans were American citizens......

In states where they are the majority should they not get the right to govern their states as they see fit no different than big blue does NY or CA??

Places where the voting districts are gerrymandered so far up the fucking Republican asses there's no way to change it, that's why.

Also, why are you mandating people PAY to vote? Unless the ID is free, you're having people PAY to vote!

And the Republicans are using "Voter Fraud" as the reason to push for voter ID. IF they say you need a "Voter ID card," it's time to vote them out,

That's your prerogative. But it doesn't make it racist against minorities or women.....

The results might have a negative effect on their voting habits but there is nothing stopping them from going and getting an ID....I've done it a bunch of times, I'm a minority. You fill out paperwork, you stand in line for hours, then they take your picture and mail you your ID.

It's really just that simple....and if that's all that's stopping minorities and women from voting? LOL then they don't want to vote.

because that's just a 21st century version of a poll tax!

How so?

Places where the voting districts are gerrymandered so far up the fucking Republican asses there's no way to change it, that's why.

You must not have been in the south recently....because while that might be the only reason (R) has much of anything in NY or CA. I promise you they don't need to gerrymander for control of quite a few states. TX is conservative, as long as TX isn't discriminating and treating all under the law equally why can't they run their state in a conservative fashion?

Also, why are you mandating people PAY to vote? Unless the ID is free, you're having people PAY to vote!

Most states, if not all, offer freebee's for ID (not DL) if you just fill out an extra sheet of paperwork. If not, offer one, problem solved not a pole tax. Like I said, I got my ID as a 10 y/o minority with no job or money, in TX, over two decades ago.

Like I said the only thing preventing minorities and women from voting because of an ID law is because "I just don't feel like it!" in which case like I said, fuck em! They obviously have little to no desire to participate in their states political culture. They either need to get off their fucking ass's and get their paperwork in order or move to a state that doesn't give a fuck.

There is nothing about asking for ID that singles out minorities or keeps them from voting.

If they're being charged for an ID or for a birth certificate to get that ID it is a poll tax and courts have ruled that.

It disproportionately impacts poor people because they move more. They may not be in the same place year to year, or month to month to get that ballot. If they're homeless there's no way they're going to be able to get a mail in ballot.

Everything you keep saying backs up my analogy. Yes, it's the same distance, but this is putting more hurdles in place for poor people. They wouldn't need the ID for day to day activities like the middle class would, that makes it an extra hurdle they need to clear. That's fine if you want to make it for a job or something, but you can't throw an extra hurdle(s) at them to vote.

Look at the polling time in minority districts in Florida for 2012. They wanted (I believe) on average two hours more than their white counterparts. We still had some people waiting in line to vote when Obama was announced the winner.

If they're being charged for an ID or for a birth certificate to get that ID it is a poll tax and courts have ruled that.

Easy fix....like I said, fill out the paperwork get your free B.

It disproportionately impacts poor people because they move more. They may not be in the same place year to year, or month to month to get that ballot. If they're homeless there's no way they're going to be able to get a mail in ballot.

I was almost 50% below the poverty line as a PVT and I moved quite frequently in the military and had not a single problem keeping my mountain of paperwork in order with little to not personal time. The only reason they don't get their ballot is because they didn't take their day off to go stand in line and fill out their fucking paperwork like I did.

Keep digging.......

Is the ID just for poor people? Show me the law that says "oh if you make less than 150k a year you gotta have ID but rich white males don't have to do all this bullshit!!"

No....so it's just hurdles on the field in general. It's not hurdles just for minorities, women or the indigent.

Just because some folks go "fuck that I'm not going to race with those things" doesn't make it discriminatory against that group of people.

ALL these IDs should be free. If your state mandates ID to vote, they should be free.

No shit...I agree with that.

Yes I know....because it's RACIST!! but can't explain how.

That's not got a fucking thing to do with ID law discriminating against minorities.

If you're a legal citizen of the US getting an ID is not hard. Spend a little time and fill out the paperwork BEFORE election day.....then vote just like everyone else, get your mail in ballot, whatever option you want.

If minorities CHOSE not to participate, that's their decision, it doesn't make asking for ID discrimination.

I'm waiting for the NY sate Republicans to mandate us in the state to have ID to vote. I'll bring my Haudenosaunee passport and watch the GOP observer go apeshit. If I can use it to pass between NY and Canada - both Ontario and Quebec - it should be good enough as voter ID.

Whatever....I doubt NY would even entertain the idea of the law seriously because NYC would scream "That's not convenient for me, RACISM!! Evil white man because reasons!!!!" and that would be the end of it for NY.

Whatever.....the MONEY will say no because the MONEY in NY is blue. The ECC, NYC...both big blue bux.

It's like CA....Blue owns CA because blue has the money in CA, LA/SF own Sacramento and they will gladly shit on the rest of the state as long as they get theirs.

TX? The opposite, red has the money in TX, so Red calls the shots...they do the same shit just the opposite side of the coin.

Bingo! You were in the military, not homeless or going to places like hotels where it was a struggle to get mail. I imagine if you were moved they could forward the mail to the next base you're at.

When you put hurdles out that are specifically designed to make minorities say "fuck that" because you know they won't vote for you, that by definition is racism.
