Conservatives are ALWAYS WRONG

Just an observation, but one thing I notice about political discourse is that when people resort to insults, it's a guaranteed way of never having the opposing person see your point of view. I mean, you're never going to sway anyone's vote nor affiliation with insults. Maybe it's just about the drama for dramatic people, but I feel it would be more logical to just keep opinions at the ballot box and make your proactive steps, positive ones. Negative + Negative won't = Positive.

That said, I'll be voting for the first time next election, and nothing I've read in any of these political discussions even make me want to vote for anyone. It's just disgusting and toxic. I plan to not take sides, just hear the candidates, think for myself and cast a vote and then go to work. I suspect the toxicity will just continuously move with times, making past arguments and opinions completely forgotten and worthless. What a vicious cycle, I can't see how people find happiness in that.

I'll reply to insults with insults, but I'd always prefer to debate issues on their merits.

🙄

Bullshit.

If you would even consider voting for a republican candidate, then you’re already a MAGAt; full stop.

👎

We. Told. Them. So.

Some people find happiness in physically fighting, some in arguing (which does less damage to the body). You just can't beat political wrangling for intellectual stimulation.

For instance, can't anybody cite an issue on which conservatives were right, and defend that position?

**crickets**

That is, they were wrong on every issue on which there were identifiable conservative and liberal sides.

We can easily say conservatives were wrong on slavery and Jim Crow and women's suffrage and the New Deal and the Vietnam War.

As well on all culture-war issues such as women's lib, gay rights, the sexual revolution, school prayer, creationism.

But it's harder to say which side of, e.g., the Free Silver issue was "conservative." (Much easier to say the Free Silverites were wrong.)

when are conservatives right
One could sometimes make a reasonable case for their economic policies . . .

Sometimes, but not any more. Supply-side has been the default policy of the industrialized nations since 1980, and we have seen clearly that it never accomplishes anything but its real intended purpose, which is to make the rich richer. Supply-side is more thoroughly discredited than Stalinism.

Social/religious conservatives are NEVER right because their whole world-view is based on false premises.
