The exterior double doors of a large glass building opened and the wind of the outside clashed with the stirrings of inter-grated air con systems. People in corporate dress moved like ants from one shift to another as a helicopter passed by through one of the dark shaded glass windows. Down multiple corridors and up a large double sided escalator there were numerous offices and planning rooms. In one particular office buried deep in the chest of this giant building was a young woman in her early 20s. Alisia Hunter sat there mustering her thoughts among the small confines of a polished office room which had been used to pen in a wave of potential candidates. These potential were all competing for the latest job opportunity at the massive corporate powerhouse multi national leviathan that was Vectral Energy International. She took a quick glance around and noticed, for it was not lost on her in that moment, that she was the only woman currently in the room. Perhaps though, others had been through the doors earlier before her? There must have been many applicants and they did interviews all day as she well knew. This was her fourth and last interview on that day, so she felt tired, but had done up herself again before coming in to give the fresh faces appearance that she knew would be needed.
She felt in her three previous interviews with other corporations she had been unlucky. They had all seemingly been women interviewers and although her cv and presentation was on point, she couldn’t help feel these older women always looked down on younger women who wanted to be high fliers as dangerous competition. The cut throat corporate world was just as brutal for women, like it was for men and this was the game. She prayed, although not holding much hope, that her next interviewer would be a man. Maybe then she could avoid the task of applying for the job and dealing with the bitterness she has experienced.
The job in question was an assistant position for one of the male high fliers as Vectral who she had to impress and then earn the job. She’d heard from one of the others he might be doing these interviews in person, so there was hope her CV had a chance if she could impress him.
As she sat waiting she felt a slight flutter in her gut as the remaining candidates slowly entered and left. She might be the last one in potentially. The last one could swing everything in their favour with a single conviction and appeal.
She felt she had the good looks of youth and the quality care taken in her attire to maximise her feminine values. She knew she was young, beautiful and a little saucy. As long as she leveraged that with the refined CV she had built up she knew she could do this. Her eyes kept on at the clock watching the last person enter.
