Could you pay me enough?

Cat,

Glad you weren't contributing to my misery. Worked 11p to 11a with non-stop lines and grumpy people. Came home to sleep for a few hours so I can do it again at 5a tomorrow.

Nope, I was just grumpy in work.

One of my co-workers learned that I mean it when I say I am not a nice person. She made a minor tactical error. She decided that she didn't like the assignment she had been given. She didn't take it up with me, oh no she went and cried on the shoulder of the Charge Nurse.

I tend to get a bit grumpy when someone goes behind my back. Especially if that someone starts playing the P.C. Cards. Do not claim I was being unfair to you because of your race, or your gender, or your religeon. Especially when I make sure to give you the holidays you claim for your nominal religeon, or give you time off because of your kids, or give you the time off to celebrate your races new holidays. (I do the scheduling.)

She quickly found that the days she had requested off for the next, and as yet unposted schedule were quite limited. She quickly found that the Cat just plain didn't show up to cover her newly modified assignment when she did things like go off the floor to have a smoke or get a cup of coffee. She found that the Cat wasn't there to move her patients, she had to do it herself.

Nope, I wasn't out shopping today, I was making people miserable in work.

I agree ... I worked five years in retail. Christmas was the worst part of the job ... not only did we have carols playing from Nov 11 onwards (they at least didn't start decorating the store until after Remembrance Day), and wind up music boxes/santas/figures/etc ... the attitude of people on the other side of the counter was horrible. I used to tell friends that nobody should have the right to go out shopping during the season until they've worked a Christmas in retail.

LOLOL

I don't know if it qualifies as being in retail, but I was the assistant manager in a gas station in New England for many years.

Yes the Holidays were amusing in the gas station. (One of my duties was to cover the shifts when the clerks called off sick or just didn't show up.) This was a self service station and often I was the only one on duty in the evenings. (The station was right down the street from one of the worst neighborhoods in the city.)

Even though we were clearly marked as a Self Service Station we often had diabled people pull in needing gas. More times than not I would step out and pump their gas for them. (I not only didn't have to but the corporation frowned on it.) I can't tell you the number of times I was accosted by others there for not pumping their gas.

During the Holidays the zoo became insane. I would have at least one drive off a shift. I had at least one holdup attempt a week.

I heard more sob stories about how people couldn't pay for the gas they wanted, and then curses and threats when I wouldn't give people credit. I had more people become pissed off when I wouldn't turn on their pump before they paid. ("What, you mean you don't trust me?") ("Yeah I saw where it said Pay first in six inch letters on the pump but that doesn't mean for me.")

Oh yeah I know what you mean.

It would be, if I was the boss. Unfortunately I just keep getting things handed to me. It is truly beginning to irritate me, especially as I'm the lowest paid one on the floor.

I was talking with the Charge Nurse today and mentioned that I am becoming more than irritated. She, the Charge Nurse is a wewll known butt kisser of the boss, so I know that my comment of my thinking about stopping all of the extras I do will make it back to my supervisor.

That should get my bosses attention.

I am classified as a PCT (Patient Care Tech.) 1.

Now according to the Corporate as well as Hospital Duties Sheets I'm am not supposed to be doing many of the things I am doing.

PCT2's (who make $1.50 an hour more than I do) do the assignments.

PCT3's (Who make $3.00 an hour more than I do) should be doing the Scheduling as well as doing the fill in work on the front desk.

I should not be doing repair work on beds and other items, that is the domain of Maint. and BioSafety Techs. who make much more than I do. (And charge their time to the floor.) (A level 1 Maint. Tech makes what I do, but doesn't have to deal with either patients or their family members.)

If I stop doing all of the extra jobs I do then my boss will lose a ton of money, not to mention my co-workers will have to actually do their jobs. I am sure I will hear about this on Monday, but I'm at the point where I don't care. My boss has only a couple of choices. She can tell the others to shut the hell up and back me, or she can let me coast. She certainly can't say anything to me, she knows I have enough ammunition to make things stick and the corproation would take a very dim view on anyone who through their stupidity caused them to undergo more public scrutiny.

Sweetheart, makes all of the crap on my end seem trifling. *hugs* Don't let 'em give you so much shit! If they don't know how valuable you are then they're idiots.(which has pretty much been established;) )

I went to my local Target today around 5 PM.

I parked closer than I usually do when I go there on Early Saturday afternoons.

The store wasn't crowded at all. They were sold out of a couple of the DVDs I wanted to get (They had a bunch on sale for $4 each), but otherwise they had all the stuff I want. (Which, of course, was mostly sale items I bought for myself. I do it on a small scale, but I can see where people's holiday spending gets out of control if they go to stores intending to shop for other people and end up spending 4 dollars on themselves for every dollar on gifts for others like I did today).

I had to wait less than a minute to check out.

Overall, a pleasant shopping experience.
