When did turntable become a musical instrument, BTW?

the turntables haver been a major part of most popular music for about the past twenty years now...

It all started when hip/hop hit the scene, and now it can be found from bands from Korn to Linkin Park, to Kid Rock, to Limpbizkit. the whole Genre is called "Rap Core".

Holy Lucifer, how could I forget the legendary dead one?! Cliff Burton. Never seen a guy do bends on a bass like it's a damn guitar. That guy was amazing. What would Metallica be like today with him still in the band. Wait, lemme guess - good?

Bass: John Entwhistle/Cliff Burton
Guitar: Robert Fripp/Jimmy Paige
Drums: Terry Bozio/Keith Moon
Vocals: Robert Plant/Scott Weiland

Drums: Lars Ulrich (yeah I know he's an ass, but his does play a nice tight mean beat.

Bass: Flea (That man can play ANYTHING)

Guitars: Nuno Bettencourt & Zakk Wylde

Keyboard/synth: Tori Amos (She can sing...but she plays so much better)

Vocals: Take a pick, there are so many...

Throw Rollins in for vocals, and I'll buy the tickets.

if i have topick just one lead singer, i think i would go with Maynard from Tool...although he is pretty warped, he has a great voice

Apparently I need to listen to some current Tool. I keep hearing waht a great band they are. I saw them 10 years or so ago, opening for Rollins in Lawrence Kansas. They sucked. And I don't mean just in comparison to Rollins who is beyond a god when he's on stage. I mean they were bad. So bad I went outside for most of their set and sat on the curb smoking. Have they improved that much?

CLAPTON IS GOD

Sorry.. But in humble opinion, I think Clapton is better on rhythm.. Hendrix just has a way with the guitar that he makes one hell of a lead.. Don't get me wrong.. I think Clapton is phenomenal in all of his songs, but for this match-up, I think it's balanced just right..

It all depends on your taste...

Really, I didn't even know who Tool was until just a few years ago. I like them, but they are not for everyone. Some of their Lyrics are pretty gruesome. I couldn't tellyou if they have gotten better or not. I just like the guys voice, his style, really. He also did vocals for A Perfect Circle. I have never seen Tool live, but one of my best friends, who is a huge Tool fan, saw them on their recent tour, and he was not all that impressed. Could be the type of band that sounds great on a disc, but isn't all that good live....

Ok Grid...its your band after all...but
CLAPTON IS STILL GOD

Jimi (in my opinion) pales in comparision.

Clapton's star will burn for ever,
Jimi was just a flash in the pan....

My opinion only folks.....if you dont like..sue me...!!

Create a band right?

I just had kind of a neat idea pop into my head.....

Myself on vocals
Renegade on drums
Ravenloft on bass
Xander on lead
Svedish_Chef on rythem

Just a little fictional band, but what fun it would be!!! And we'd call ourselves........The Literoticats....lmao. :D

Vocals- Freddy Mercury
Guitar (L)- Eric Clapton
Guitar (R)- Slash
Drums- Ginger Baker
Bass- Paul McCartney

putting a lawyer on retainer now....seriously, hendrix a flash in the pan? get real dude...were he alive now, he would play circles around clapton...there are a shitload of guitar players better than clapton. i'm not saying clapton isn't a great guitar player, but saying hendrix pales in comparison is like saying that the moon shines brighter than the sun...

thats the whole point tho Stone..he killed himself before he had a chance to really develop....imagine if he was around for thirty years like Eric...but sadly...and i repeat sadly..he was not to be...
hence my "flash in the pan" comment...

now thats a band....!! Amen

ahhhhh i see...well, in my opinion, though he cut his life short, i still don't believe him to be a flash in the pan, his talent lives on in his music...by the rationale you use, Randy Rhoades would be considered a flash in the pan, had he lived on, he would have been known as the greatest ever, i believe even though he died way too young, he is still in the top 5 guitar players of all time

Paul McCartney?

On bass?

C'mon!

Adequate player and great songwriter....but he isn't exactly known for pushing the envelope.

Now...if it is strictly virtuoso type ability then Stanley Clarke is your man.

My guess...he would have quit when they decided to cut their hair and explore new avenues. Expanding your musical horizons is a good thing but you also can't shake your roots.

AC/DC is still making the same formula work.

That said....Angus Young on lead....he works the stage!
