Crimson night.

Price:

"Foolish? I have never concidered any notion of love to be foolish. I have never loved any but her, and i doubt i ever will, so is it foolish for me to cling to the only love i know? I think not. Look at yourself Dain. Look at what you are, what you have become. What can you offer her now but an eternity of being dead, of having to kill to survive. That's so very primal, and misplaced in todays world don't you think? Will you give her an eternity of sucking the blood from drunks and missfits when she should be living the life of a true Lady? It is you who chose her fate Dain. I think it is your own needs that will rob her of a wonderful future, not my foolish notions of love."

Dain:

Shaking with fury barely contained, Dain fixed Price with a feral glare. He hated the man for speaking these truths. If she remained with him, she would be reduced to as base a creature as he... "Damn you!" Dain hissed as he turned away. He looked upon Lilly, sleeping in a death like state. He couldn't bare the sight of it and what it insinuated... So he cast his eyes down to the floor.

Lilly:

As lilly opened her eyes, her mind cleared a little as well. Her strength was gone, but she was still able to reach for Dains fingers as he stood beside her bed. She was aware of Dr Price, and could feel the tension in the room, it was a silence that could be cut with a knife. dain's fingers were cold to her touch, but it was his touch that warmed her heart.

Price took a step closer to Lilly's bed. He was well aware of the fate he himself could face if he was to anger Dain further, but he still wanted to rescue Lilly from a fate far worse then death. At least that was how he percieved it to be. "I can save her Dain, at least i can try to. Even death, true death, would be better then what you would make of her. Let her go."

Lilly could not believe what she was hearing, even more, she could not believe that Dain would consider such a thing. "Dain?"

Dain:

Dain looked at Lilly's hand in his, he drew it against his chest, bringing her up onto her knees. "Lilly... You must tell me... Tell me to leave you..." Dain whispered sorrowfully. "Price is right, if I stay with you... You will only suffer..." He'd fought so long, trying to denigh what Price had said in a hundred life times, in a hundred diferent voices... He didn't want to fight anymore...

Lilly:

Lilly looked to dain, her eyes imploring him to take back the words he had just spoken. She was tired, cunfused, and hurt, but anger was taking hold of her mind, and heart. She had been through enough, and he was not going to abandon her now. SHe would not allow it.

"If you are to wallow in hell and self pity then i chose to wallow with you." tightening her grip on his hand, she quickly brough it to her mouth, biting into him so hard that it broke the skin, then sucked furiously on the dark, tainted liquid that oozed from the wound. Before Dain or price could move to stop her, she had swallowed more than enough to tip the balance between her human side, and the demon that now grew within her.

Dain:

With a sharp growl, Dain pushed Lilly away, forcing her onto her back. His eyes flashed with anger for the briefest of seconds, then softened. Silence prevaded for several minutes as Dain touched his hand to his already healed lip. Dain drew himself up next to Lilly, emploring her to come into his embrace as he saw Price lowering his head, the shock fading from his eyes, along with the love he felt for Lilly. Dain fixed him with a cold gaze as he rested Lilly's head to his chest. "Why... Lilly... Why?" Price asked, anguish and disgust filling his voice as his jaws clenched.

Lilly:

As she snuggled in close to Dain, letting him know by her embrace that she had no intention of letting him go...ever, a tear rolled down her cheek for the pain in Price's eyes.

"I am sorry Steve, but something in the cycle of eternity can't be changed, and that's how it is with my love for Dain. Before he came to me, I never knew a moments happiness, or the true meaning of life. My place is with him, as it has always been, and always will be. Please forgive me Steve, but only in this death can i be saved, and it's an existance of my choosing."

Without a word, Doctor Steve Price turned and left, but in his heart, he made a vow, that some day he would save Lilly, and she would love him for it.
