yes, it can.

when you have the option to walk away but would rather make them feel like a total maggot and you'll gleefully reduce them to tears.
And after, do you have a hangover (emotionally), or do you just move on?

Ever catch yourself being cruel? Yes often

Do you ever take pleasure in being mean? Not as often as I am cruel, but at certain times there is no feeling quite like it.

Here on lit?Yes

Where does your nasty side come out?Whenever it chooses or when people fuck with those I care about.

How do you feel about it?If I had a conscience I might feel bad.

Do you think you're meaner then others? Depends on how mean they are being.

Do people think you're nicer then you really are? Some do and some definately don't.

Do people think you're mean, and fail to notice your sweet side?People know I can be mean, but ironically they still have told me that I am sweet.

Ever catch yourself being cruel? Not really. I associate cruel with purposeful striking at someone ~ I rarely do that outside of possibly the closest of relationships, marriage.

Do you ever take pleasure in being mean? No.

Here on lit? No ~ sometimes I wish, not that I could take pleasure in it, but that the dis-pleasure would be lessened enough for me to be less nice.

Where does your nasty side come out? If I'm deeply hurt or scared. Which is probably why a SO relationship is the one that can trigger it.

How do you feel about it? I don't really think about it, unless I say something that is really out of line, and then I feel remorse for what I said, but not always for being nasty.

Do you think you're meaner than others? No

Do people think you're nicer then you really are? Yes. But not because I'm cruel. I can be thoughtless.

Do people think you're mean, and fail to notice your sweet side? um. no. Except my kids as teenagers. They think I'm nothing but mean sometimes.
I've never seen you be mean here, and I've seen a lot of your posts.

I hate bullies and cruel folk and I'm very patient and go out of my way to avoid hurting feelins in real life.

I also have a mean streak a mile wide.

That disparity between my two tendencies has caused me quite a bit of ....quite a bit of whatever call you that angst that causes you pain when you mull over the distance between your self-image and your reality.

How do you feel about mean-ness in others? Do you ever feel drawn to it?

Not really. I can understand when other people are mean but I'm not drawn to it. And unnecessary cruelty or mean-ness I just don't get.

here.

A deeply cruel and heartless side that a few have hints of.
I find that makes me interested in you - or I should say, increases my interest, since I already liked you.

Here on lit?
More so than in RL.
Where does your nasty side come out?
People I think deserve it. It's very rare I'll go after someone for no reason.
How do you feel about it?
Doesn't bother me in the slightest.
Do you think you're meaner then others?
LOL. yeah. I go nuclear straight away. It saves time.
Do people think you're nicer then you really are?
LMAO. I seriously doubt it.
Do people think you're mean, and fail to notice your sweet side?
One or two see through the lit persona.

no, because i honestly believe that they deserve it. and i do walk away more often than not.

that i enjoy it so when i do?
i'm a sadist. that is in my nature.

I'm above being mean. I'm cool like that. Why i'm practically the most perfect person on the planet.

I have a cruel and mean side. I dont let it control or come out in full very often. And only under extreme circumstances will it come out.

A good indication here, would be if I tell you that you should have your head flushed in a toilet until you die. I usually mean it.

it's in my nature too, at times, but once I see the hurt, the pleasure ends. I enjoy the attack, but better if the person is strong enough to fight back, and it's a fair fight. I don't like to win or lose without a fight.

Don't bullshit in my thread! Your other answers were better.

Okay...

*dragging feet*

I'll go remove the reference to your Feline qualities...

if you wish...

What half the people responding to this thread mean when they say that they have a cruel side is "don't fuck with me-I'm not a pussy".

That's not what "cruel" means.

I'm uber cruel. I pull the wings off of flies and drop kick teddy bears.
You're a joker, like the song says, and you "sure didn't mean to hurt no one". I think you hate meanness more then most people.

Beats the shit out of me.

A belief maybe in an inherent decency.
And the secret of (the woman's) unrecognized meanness - that's the attraction. IMHO

Probably helps explain your appreciation for Dennis Leary. I love him as well.

I agree. They are just trying to discourage meanness towards themselves. I can take pleasure in putting someone down if I think I'm funny, but not if I think they can't take it.

not cruel, but when my patience is tested, I can show a nasty side.

Olivia_Yearns said:
So clear about this. So what do you make of people who are cruel?

It depends on who is at the recieving end of the cruelty. If it's someone that cannot defend themself, it pisses me off and disgusts me and I'd have no problem with letting them know how I feel.

If it's like a battle of the cruelty wits, with people being asses to each other, I could care less what is said.
