Curious about LW

Oh yeah, there is at least one. I know, I wrote it. It was one of my first stories and I posted it there before I realized what the category was all about.

ETA: It's not there anymore. I think Laurel moved it after someone complained it wasn't LW's material.

Well that's just wrong, with the wide variety of stories in LW, how could any story with a couple involved be considered in the wrong category.

But, now I need to know the name of the story, just to find out what doesn't belong in LW. :D

Damn, it just sunk in, I think I have read LW for way too long. I just made that comment and had way too many stories run through my mind to back my argument. lol

I often contrast his case to the Fella. When we separated we were not married, so he didn't have to split everything with me - we only had to split the value of our jointly owned house. He was very fair and shared an inheritance he had just received with me. That was what allowed me to buy a home for myself - and his child, although to be fair to the Fella he probably was thinking that I deserved it after ten years of sacrificing my career to support him in the relationship, rather than of making sure Piglet got well housed. He is scrupulous with his maintenance money, always making sure I get it in good time and the right amount. When he got promotion, he let me know his salary was higher and he would be giving me a bit more immediately.

We are both able to be reasonable about the money and discuss it openly together.. Eg., the Fella has just taken Piglet on an expensive course which we agreed should be paid for out of her maintenance. I think that money is for both of us to spend on her, not just for me. Probably we both end up contributing extra towards her, although I have about a tenth of the salary the Fella does so I expect he pays out a bit more than I do. We trust each other too much to bother to figure it out.

That's something I'd like to see a bit more of, here or elsewhere in fiction - ex-es who act like civilised human beings instead of making war.

My partner's ex was great (well still is AFAIK, we don't see much of him these days because we're in different cities). I understand she and he had a messy break-up, but they both decided to make an effort for the lad's sake, and he ended up as a good friend. Sometimes he and I went to parent-teacher nights together, which caused a bit of confusion! As far as I can see the BTB-type breakups are exceptions, most people manage to be grownups about separation.

Would you please stop slamming other kinks?

Generally I leave "domination" and "submission" alone because I know so many people are into it.

Erotica that fetishes power and control makes me want to puke. Its the exact opposite of erotocism. But I don't blather on about it.

Its hilarious how the power people shriek like little old ladies at stories about kissing cousins.

But to summarise what you said, it's a melting pot with little to define it, except the fans there are a pack of rabid animals.

So what's the point?

I know there's none for me, which is why I don't read or write there. I'm just vaguely agog that anyone does. I mean, my opinion of incest is well enough known but even I can see how it would appeal to people who need the thrill of breaking taboos and want to live in their mother's bedroom instead of her basement or something. But LW doesn't even have that going for it. BTB and RAAC are two sides of the same badly minted coin, but putting them into the same category is just asking for trouble, and when you mix in all the rest...

Yeah, just another entry in the file of "Things I guess I'm glad I do not understand about Literotica." Y'all have fun. Pray Lit never gets hacked because you're playing with the psychotic in there.

The comments that I find the funniest are the ones telling a writer that they posted in the wrong category, and the story is about a loving husband and wife with no one else involved, and no domination or "evil" intent by either spouse. The commenters will say things like "this should be in Romance" or "this should be in Erotic Couplings".

It is about a LOVING WIFE, and you're telling us that LW is the wrong category. I see those and just shake my head and laugh.

The section name is missleading, and kinda ironic. Depends on how you look at it, holding it at face value, sure, but think more of Loving Wives as a spy code for Wives Loving Everybody, or Loving Whorez, or something

I understand what LW is, I was just pointing out the irony of how a story about a truly loving couple seems to have no place in LW, while stories that cover everything from non-erotic to EH to BDSM are looked at with nary a second thought. :D

An actual loving wife in LW?!?!? Impossible!!! :D As for the rest, I would agree.

Well, I think one of my stories had what I considered an actual loving wife. It got a decent score. The reason I post in LW is that I like the challenge of going into Mig Alley and see if I can push the envelope. Maybe some would think I'm pandering to the BTB crowd but I'll continue to write stories that resonates with me.

I think the category is generic enough that everyone can find something that butters their biscuit.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with the 'Loving Wives' section (I've always been a big 'Incest' man when it comes to Literotica). Could someone briefly explain what it's supposed to be about. If I gave it any thought, I assumed it was pretty tame stuff involving romantic stories. But am I right in saying it involves a lot of submission and promiscuity?

Well, as has already been stated in this thread, it is a very broad category and "what it's supposed to be about" is, apparently, different to different people.

The way I read the description it is supposed to contain pretty much anything to do with a wife who is polyamorous. Or perhaps monogamous but with someone other than her husband. Or maybe she is just cheating. Or ... well anything at all to do with a woman having sex outside her marriage.

Other people believe it is broader than that and who am I to say their wrong.

Maybe the best way to describe LW is this:
Take every category that Lit has, add a couple that is usually married, but not always. Now throw all those stories into a single category (LW) with nothing but tags at the end to give the readers any idea of what kinks each story covers. That is LW in a nutshell.

To the writers:
Would that be a fair description of LW?

When I first heard of the category I thought it was for people who wanted to read about sex but wanted it all to be within the confines of marriage, aka sexy but not immoral. The fact that the name was sarcastic didn't even occur to me; after all the incest section isn't called Demure Daughters. Not one of my brighter assumptions.

I don't know that submission is any sort of theme there. Submission is lumped in with BDSM here, which in my opinion is a poor fit (because not all submission involves sadomasochism and it really bugs me when they get forcibly cojoined.) Promiscuity, though, would be a defining characteristic. The problem being that for some of the audience, promiscuity is a good thing and for the rest it's a bad thing. Wittols and women-haters in the same room, what a great idea.

I think your story Grief" fits the bill as a loving couple that lost their way, for awhile, in impossible circumstances. To this day, I'll only read that story when I know that I'll be alone for some time. Makes me too emotional, but I can't stop rereading it every month or two.

Just curious, but do you have anything new coming?

I haven't read much in LW. I've read a little and I've read a lot of commentary about LW and it leaves me baffled.

Normally I expect that the LW readers are mostly male misogynists with no concept of how a relationship usually works. That is, if the relationship doesn't work then you get out of it. Done. There's No BTB or RAAC.

Now lets throw in real-life complications like children. How do you carry out BTB when the kids are watching?

Are the LW stories just an outlet for misogynists to vent their hatred? I actually find most of what I've read on LW to be pretty repellent.

Simple. You say the kids are 18, then run them over to Incest/Taboo and fuck them. Isn't that what good, caring parents do with their kids? Must be. It is one of the top categories on Literotica. Instead of BTB, you can have nice wholesome stories about abuse of authority, and fucking naive teens with bows in their twin pigtails.

Listening to AH posters is like watching a Trump rally. Nobody in the entire room has a clue, yet they feed off the collective ignorance and they're damn proud of it.

Take a quick look at some of the authors on the HoF for LW. If you can't find one outstanding story by one consistently outstanding author, I'd be happy to send you a list. Maybe you're too busy writing important things to look.

I say all the time that those limp wristed jackals think they know what hate is. If one of them ever had the guts to seek me out I'd show them what its all about.

I have as much hatred for their kind as they do for fictional characters in stories. Difference is I don't spray it all over the comment section. If I don't like a category I stay away.

Other difference is I dole out my abuse under a handle giving them the chance to reply.

Damn amateur hour over there;)

There's another difference. You don't stay away. You come to AH and post your faux macho shit where you have a sympathetic audience. The idle threats about what you will do if they ever find you is classic.

"If I don't like a category I stay away."

Good advice. Take it...and shut up about it.

I don't wanna even know what sort of boner Hillary gives you.

I'm ashamed...I knew how easy it is to bait Trumpeteers, yet I still did it. They sit in dark corners waiting to scream N****r! or a Hillary reference. Too easy. I thought you were one of the smart ones, James...like Ivanka.

Well said sir.

LW cops a lot of flak in this forum. Some of that is justified but I think it comes down to the old adage, if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.

I've ventured into the LW category seven times, each time to try to work with the category without an intent to provoke the warring readers/commenters there. Most of them have done well enough and gotten more favorable than negative comments. One (the lowest scoring one) must have hit a note of relevance to the category as intended, as the one who set the category up (Laurel) gave it one of her Green Es (https://www.literotica.com/s/the-quality-of-love).

I think a major reason there's so much negative yammering in that category is that a lot of authors are purposely writing stories to the category with the intent to stir the readers up.

I don't gotta be smart...I'm big. I see Ellen Degenerate just came over to THE DARK SIDE. Can heterosexuality be next?

"Big" is irrelevant online. Here, "big" is "smart". It's all we have to work with.

LITTERERS get smart about as much as dogs get God. When LC gets wind in his sails the AH aint no place intelligent life will be found. He's a beacon for the dum.

Good point. It's a significant reason, but I'm not sure it is the major reason. I've checked stories from authors who recently said on AH that they have done this. With the exception of oshaw, none of them write well enough to pull it off without obvious condescension.

Good stories, well-told tend to get relevant and useful comments in LW. The scores might be lower than expected, but the scoring in ALL categories is pointless. Nobody, not even the scorers, know what it measures.

Enjoyed your story. I think the comments are typical for this kind of story on LW.

rj

I agree that "significant" is probably a better word than "major" was. The bottom line is that if you write a story to any category with the thought of "this will stir them up"--as posters so often post to the forum that they are doing/going to do with a story posted to LW--they shouldn't really be surprised when this does stir the readers up--with an effect across that category collection. Anytime I write here I'm writing to that specific story idea and hook, not usually to a chosen category or ever to my perception of the preferences of the readers of that category.

I like what I like

This is the category I read 99% , and I like what I like. I'm not going to apologize for it. LC says we're the "Trash" of this site , so ?
I do not 1 bomb anyone , well one or two exceptions , but they really were God awful.
LC says he would love to physically meet someone who hurt his feelings , that's some hellaciously false bravado you got there sir. I wouldn't want to meet a lot of these people , no matter what their kinks are. Just being real on that.
I simply like a story of " Good vs Bad". I guess that's my predominate kink. Doesn't matter which gender , just like me some conflict and some " Justice" at the end. Kinda like those old Westerns that used to be all the rage. Or half or more of most of Western Lit.
And , the biggest myth of all is this Damned idea that all BTB ends with the wife raped , murdered , or tortured. I've probably read over well a Thousand LW stories , and those storylines are few and far between. Now divorce , loss of jobs , public humiliation ( doesn't mean stoning or pillories ) , and other consequences yes, but not the BS that some here have stated.
If you want all stroke , all the time , there are a dozen other sites that specialize in that. Here the Lit actually comes before the erotica in the name , Hummm , now why the Hell do you think they did that ?
rant complete , feeling much better now.

Wow.

I'm a long time reader and brand new writer - having just submitted my first story today.

As a reader LW has been my favorite category - though I've recently had difficulty finding stories that fit into what I thought I should expect there.

I'm working on a series about a (genuinely) loving wife and mother who has a dark and very secret sex addiction, and how she satisfies her needs outside the marriage - sometimes with the husband's participation, and often not - while balancing that against a conservative suburban home life.

Based on the comments in this thread - I now have no idea where that kind of story should go?

Post it in LW. There are lots of stories there with a comparable theme. Another would be fine because your characters or your take would be unique. You've been reading LW so you know it's a mix. About the only thing they have in common is a wife who screws other guys. That's it.

Don't go by what you read on AH. Most of the critics here don't read LW and have a cob so far up their ass about it, they are in danger of choking.

Any story that fits a category here perfectly would be so boring nobody would ever read it. A good story is bound to cross over into other categories. Treat them as strong suggestions and you'll be fine.

I always appreciate new LW writers, haulover. A guy named Todd172 has been knocking 'em dead in LW. He doesn't always color within the lines either.
