Ireena nods and cuddles into Quinn. "No nightmares, so thats always nice. And I'm up early because I was cold.. Lucan doesn't keep me warm like you do when I sleep. Ireena nods and backs into Quinn. Her voice is quiet when she responds. "Sounds good to me, its fun being in the middle. Even if I have to deal with his morning wood poking my ass every morning." Quinn kisses along her shoulder "it is. after we beat strahd and kill that spawn, we should take a month and just be lazy. the world will keep turning. we can wait out the winter, then go see the world. even there... we can just,... not fucking fight people or go around looking for trouble. we can hide away from the world and stay at nice inns and take long baths and eat large breakfasts. we can go sit in sunlit fields and stare at blue skies and fluffy white clouds and just soak in the sun." she sighs "there's nothing that says we have to be all erlan about it and look for the next challenge. that guy is in for a long few centuries."

Ireena turns on her back and looks at Quinn. "Can't we just beat him today then? I need that.. All of it.. As long as the sun doesn't burn me alive." She runs her hand over Quinn's arm. "I know a month off would drive Erlen nuts, he needs to slow it down and relax now and then.." She leans up and kisses Quinn's lips softly. "But I'm more focused on the three of us, if Erlen doesn't work with us.. Im sure Lucan will be sad. But you know he would be happy with us still. Now I want a nice long hot bath.."

"anyway, we're off to find the forest fane in a few... probably should get everyone up"

She sighs and stands up, stretching and yawning. "Lets get their lazy butts up and head off then. You can have sleepy head here. I'll get Marius, Ezmerelda, and Erlen." She gets dressed and heads out of the tent. Erlen is already up but she heads off to wake up Ezmerelda and Marius. Breakfast is already made so everyone starts eating before having to break down their tents and head out.

Quinn eats hastily, shoveling down some food so they can get a good start "Erlan why dont you ride with Es, and Ill ride with marius up top. Lucan and Ireena can stay in the carriage with asshat." she starts packing her shit up, so they can get going once everyone is situated.

Everyone packs up their stuff and prepares to leave. Erlen and Ezmerelda get on her wagon while Marius and Quinn sit up front on the carriage. Ireena and Lucan climb in the back with Asshat. Ireena looks at Asshat, "You've been quiet lately. Better be treating Quinn nicely when I'm not around." You all set off North, the trail is bumpy and narrow. The weather seems to get warmer as you head further into the forest. Getting close to nightfall you come across a large stone. The stone is cracked, dirty, and covered in vines. You all stop closeby and step toward it, as you get within thirty feet the holy symbol Lucan is carrying starts to glow. He steps closer and the dirt starts to fall and the stone cracks more, revealing a smooth reflecting obsidian surface. You all stand back looking at the reflections of yourselves. As you look closer you can see slightly older versions of yourselves.

Lucan looks back in full plate armor with a glowing blue skull on the chest. A blue flaming Warhammer at his side. Quinn looks back in odd dark robes with Asshat at her side, much larger than he currently is. Marius looks back in black robes covered in eyes, a staff in his hand and his dragon perched on his shoulders. Erlen looks back with a direwolf at his side, clutching an odd elven bow with arrows that are larger than any you've ever seen him carry. Ezmerelda stands beside an older man both drenched in blood carrying skeletal hilted swords with green flames flowing down the blade. Finally Ireena stands next to Strahd, standing over the corpse of Marius. The color is drained from her face and she stares back with glowing red eyes. Each of them looks over you all and at the same time they say, "Choose."

*how many times do i have to tell you people, i'm a manifestation of Quinn's inner self and so my comments are drawn purely from her self loathing which someone is keeping at bay. well. that or I'd like to keep existing and sapping the Mighty Quinn's confidence leading into the big finale seems like folly. could be that. Asshat immediately curls up and srtarts to sleep.

Upon reaching the stone Quinn arches an eyebrow "you've gotten fat asshat. in the future" she grins and looks over at the images again "choose what? the choice isn't very clear" she crosses her arms "two of these futures seem mutually exclusive. powerful marius vs dead marius" she tilts her head "though maybe this is strahd saying.... fuckoff and give me the girl and marius lives and you all become powerful, don't and he dies" she shrugs "I choose not having Ireena become undead. whatever choice that is"

As you say that the vision of Ireena with Strahd and Marius' dead boy disappears. Quinn can hear Ireena take several fast and deep breaths, as if she hasn't been breathing for a minute or so. Lucan looks over the images, "Something is off about most of these futures.. I look mostly normal.. But I can tell something is off. Quinn you and Asshat look weird too.. I think everyone does, Ireena's was just the easiest to point out.." Quinn and Marius both examine the rock, Quinn immediately knows what's going on. Yes, this is older versions of yourselves. However, these are older versions of yourselves that have gone down dark and twisted paths.

As the image of Ireena, Strahd, and Marius disappears she sees a vision in her head. Instead of leaving with Quinn and Lucan Ireena married Strahd, let him turn her and then she killed Marius. A raven lands on a nearby tree and looks over the group. "The trial, you must choose one to fight silly. Be warned, if you think youre strong now, just imagine yourselves like that." The raven cocks her head to the side and flaps down to a lower branch.

Quinn hmmms "im less keen on choosing anyone with a companion. so lets take me, and es out of the picture" she shifts a little bit and looks over at lucan "you, erlan, or marius?" she brushes her hair back "lets take a vote. i vote marius he will get a limited number of big ticket spells."

Marius shakes his head, "Yes but those spells will be devastating. I vote Erlen, he's going to hit hard but if we can get in close quickly it'll be easier than facing a spellcaster." Quinn can see the others thinking, trying to figure out which one would be smartest. Ireena votes for Marius but everyone else votes for Erlen. As you all vote the images start facing except for Marius and Erlen, after the decision is made Marius also fades away. The image of Erlen smiles and steps out of the rock. "That's a shame it would have been entertaining to watch one of you get sent to another plane. Oh well, shall we?" He doesn't give anyone time to react, he pulls back two arrows and fires them at Erlen. Both arrows hit him in the chest, Erlen starts coughing up blood immediately. He pulls out his bow and fires back two of his own shots. As he looks up to make sure his arrows hit, he sees the image of himself is gone. You all look around knowing it can't be that easy. Quinn spots the image of Erlen out of the corner of her eye about 50 feet away in a tree.

Quinn nods "everyone stay back a moment" she shouts, then throws up Hunger of Hadar. While the spell is not that damaging she and probably marius would be able to see Erlen throughthe darkness and it would take him a bit to get out of the area given that it impedes movement. during that time at least the two of them should be able to pepper erlan-image with blasts which may even force him back towards the center of the spell's effect if everything went to plan.

Quinn and Marius blast him with their eldritch blasts, pushing him back each time he gets close to Exiting Quinn's spell. Finally he gets out and shoots an arrow at both of you. One sinks itself into Quinn's shoulder as the other hits Marius in the arm, both arrows start burning as they sink deep into them. Lucan looks over at Quinn, "Can we hit him now?!" Erlen let's loose two more arrows as Quinn and Marius launch more Eldritch blasts at the image of Erlen. He pulls back two more arrows ready to fire as Lucan waits for Quinn's answer. Healing energy washes over Quinn healing her a little.
