CYOA: Eagle Eye

SITUATION:

Jenna begins slowing her car as you near NW 23rd Street. On the corner sits a City Police cruiser; a uniformed Officer near it is talking to a sketchy looking man in a full length, leather jacket. The officer sees you slowly and -- seeming to be expecting you -- walks swiftly your direction while the man behind him moves to a heavy metal door, seming to "stand guard". Over his head are faded numbers: 823.

"Jenna Thompson," Elea says over the speaker of Jenna's still active cell phone, "Please take the revolver from Shane Williams. Conceal it. Move to the entrance of 823 North West 23rd. The man at the door is waiting for you. Shane Williams, engage the City Police Officer in conversation. Do not allow him to leave the vicinity. If necessary, use the silencer."

Before you can even react to Elea's instructions, the Officer is at the passenger side of the Jenna's car, tapping on the window.

[NOTE: Only respond up to and including the following; no hurry, as things are about to move quickly. Please look to see if the other writer is on line before posting. If you are the only one online, please post; but if the other writer is online, PM him/her to see who wants to post first, so you aren't "walking" over one another.]

OPTIONS:
  • Do as you're told. Post it.
  • Discuss the situation briefly -- briefly, I say, because after about 5 seconds, the Officer will tap at the window again, becoming impatient. Post it.
  • CYOR. Post it.

I pull the revolver from the back of pants and try to hand it to you and you push it away. I force it into your hand. "Damnit Jenna, take it. We have to do this and figure out what it all means. I don't like it any better than you do."

I hide the silenced 9 under my leg as the cop walks around the car to my window and knocks. I just look at him through the glass. He stands there impatient and finally knocks again. I roll down the window slowly. "Good evening officer. Something I can help you with?"

Jenna shook her head, not wanting to take the gun. She'd never handled a weapon before, and she didn't want to. "Damnit Jenna, take it. We have to do this and figure out what it all means. I don't like it any better than you do."

"Good evening officer. Something I can help you with?"

Jenna tried to keep her face calm, wondering what he wanted. She was not a good liar. Keeping quiet, she waited for the officer to respond, hoping it wasn't anything that would force them to use the gun

SITUATION: 7:31am

The cop leans in closer to the window, eying Shane, then Jenna, then looking about the interior of the car; he is a professional and nothing seems to indicate that he's anything but a real and very cautious City Police Officer.

He eyes Jenna, conspicuously eying her body as a slight smirk widens his lips. He nods toward the distant building, saying, "Goran is waiting for you. And, I might add, he's gonna like you. Go ahead ... while your escort here and I talk about why the hell we're doing this at sun up and not sun down.

OPTIONS: Again, PM each other first. If Shane isn't going to allow Jenna out of the car (for her own safety or his curiosity about the situation), you two need to coordinate that.
  • Jenna:
    • Go to the door across the street as Elea had instructed and the Officer is insisting. Take the gun, don't take the gun; Jenna's decision. Post it.
    • Stay put. Stay quiet, question the cop, wait for Shane's reaction ... what ever. Post it.
    • CYOR. Post it.
  • Shane:
    • Keep Jenna in the car. Post it.
    • Allow Jenna to leave, then chit chat with the cop. (The cop won't talk about the situation until Jenna has left, though.)
    • CYOR. Post it.

I'm watching the cop as he speaks. My hand is resting on my leg with my fingertips on the gun hidden from his sight. I look over at you as you're reaching for the door handle. I reach out and grab your arn. "Jenna wait. Something's not right."

I turn my head back to the cop. "She's not going in there without me. If she goes in at all. And especially to see somebody named Goran that we don't know anything about."

Jenna shut her eyes, reluctant to leave the car, but relaxed when Shane grabbed her by the arm, preventing her from leaving. "Jenna wait. Something's not right. She's not going in there without me. If she goes in at all. And especially to see somebody named Goran that we don't know anything about."

Jenna looked at him gratefully, glad to know she wasn't alone. She didn't like Shane, but she didn't want to deal with this by herself. And what did he mean by escort?

SITUATION: 7:32am

The cop listens to Shane's ultimatum, glancing at Jenna and then back to the man just inches from him beyond the open passenger window. "Whadda ya mean, Somebody named Goran...?

He tries to be inconspicuous about raising his hand to his waist, but the movement of his shoulder gives him away, as does the click of the snap securing his service revolver in his standard issue utility belt.

"You say that," he continues, "as if you've never heard his name. Who the fuck are you people?"

He jerks his pistol out of the holster...

OPTIONS: SHANE
  • Shoot the cop. Post only a few seconds; this is going to move quickly.
  • Slam the door against him, hoping to prevent the cop from using his weapon. Post only a few seconds; this is going to move quickly.
  • CYOR. Post it.

DETAILS YOU MIGHT WANT:
  • They are parked at the curb, with the cop at the passenger side near Shane and the "sketchy" guy 40 feet away -- driver's side -- across the street at the door.
  • Although it's 7:32am, the 7-15 story buildings prevent the sun from brightly illuminating the narrow street well.
  • There seems to be no one else around, and with most of the buildings being warehouse/commercial, there likely won't be.

"SHIT" as the cops arm comes up with his gun. My right arm reaches out and grabs his arm as my left arm brings up the silenced pistol. I pull the trigger and the shot meant for center mass catches him in the throat as he tries to bend away. His body falls to the curb.

SITUATION: 7:32am +

The Officer was still fumbling with his revolver when the bullet Shane fired penetrated his throat; blood splatters every where -- toward the street, into the car, onto Shane -- spurting as the falling cop's heart continues to pulse.

Across the street (if anyone notices), the Sketchy Man is chatting with a second man who must have exited the building. He doesn't seem to notice the activity at the far side of the vehicle ... yet.

OPTIONS: AGAIN, PM ONE ANOTHER
  • Panic is always an option. :D Post about 15 seconds.
  • Flee in the car. You will get away without resistance. Post only two blocks.
  • Discuss the situation. You have about 15 seconds before Sketchy sees the Officer down and reacts.
  • Approach the men at the door. You will get almost to the curb before I will need to react. Post it.
  • Rush the men at the door. Post only 5 seconds after leaving the car before I need to react.
  • CYOR. Post it.

As the cop begins to fall I turn my head as his blood sprays everywhere. Once he hits the ground I push the door open as I glance over and see the two guys still at the doorway chatting. "I'm going in to see what's up inside that building."

The car hides the cop's body from their line of sight. I step out and over his body and walk around the car headed towards the two guys at the door. I'm holding the silenced pistol in my hand but carrying it slightly behind my back and leg so they don't notice it as I walk towards them.

(OOC -- We can post a few replies about what's happening at the building and assume that Jenna is still in the car. But, eventually, we'll have to wait for her to catch up.)

SITUATION: 7:33am

Below the big 823 sign, the Sketchy Man and a man we'll called Baldy discontinue their chatting to look Shane's direction. It's obvious from their expressions and body language that they are cautious types, but it's impossible to know yet whether they are criminals or cops, like the officer bleeding all over the pavement back by the Lincoln.

Shane is almost to the sidewalk before Baldy leans in and asks just loud enough for Shane to hear, "Where's Kreiger?"

The Sketchy Man looks past Shane, and a moment later his eyes widen with surprise. He pulls his leather jacket up, revealing a sawed off shotgun underneath, hanging from a strap. But before he can begin to pull it, all up and down the street, car alarms erupt in a cacophony of screeches, screams, and sirens. Sketchy Man and Baldy both look left and right in shock ... as they continue to pull their weapons out.

(OOC -- I'm going to stop saying "Post It" in most cases. I think you have the picture. Although I will at times indicate time limitations.)

OPTIONS:
  • Panic as the two men are, causing delay.
  • Try to stop them from pulling their weapons by pulling and leveling yours at them.
  • Fire upon the two men. I will leave whether you hit them -- dead or not -- to your own discretion.
  • Flee or hide. You will get shot at once the men get their heads straight, but whether they hit you or not is again up to your discretion.
  • CYOR.

I continue walking until I'm about 10 feet from them and still standing in the street. "Who's Krieger? The cop? If so, he's over by the car." The Sketchy man raises his coat and I see the shotgun and tighten my grip on the pistol.

About that time, sirens begin wailing all around us. I look up and down the street same as the two guys then turn my head back to them. When I turn my head back, I see them both beginning to pull their shotguns out. Before they level off at me, I drop into a shooter's crouch in the street and raise my pistol at them. "Dammit guys. Don't do it."

Jenna stayed inside of the car, figuring if they needed to get away fast, someone should already be behind the wheel. She heard sirens and looked at Shane who clearly had heard them too. She saw the guns being pulled out, and she motioned towards them with her head, looking at Shane. Had they noticed her yet? She kept still, shutting her eyes.

(OOC -- Sorry I am reacting slow. I have my Yahoo Messenger on for instant notification ... but I forgot to turn on the instant notification in Literotica, duh.)

SITUATION: 7:33am +

Sketchy saw the pistol rise up from behind Shane and stopped his own movements, either because he knew he was beat to the draw or because he still didn't know what the hell was going on.

But behind him, Baldy was still pulling his weapon. Sketchy realized what his associate was about to do and tried to stop him with a raised hand and a loud, "Wait!"

Baldy's semi automatic pistol fired, sending a shot toward Shane that crossed the street and shattered the rear driver's side window of the Lincoln. An instant later, Sketchy -- fearing hell was going to break open, with him standing in the middle -- raised his shotgun toward Shane.

Meanwhile, in the Lincoln, Elea's voice returned to Jenna's phone. It was obvious that the women knew exactly what was going on just 40 feet away, and yet her voice was as calm and even as it had been all along.

"Jenna Thompson, assist Shane Williams. He must not die. Drive into the doorway of 823 NW 23rd and dispatch the men threatening our mission."

Then, after a moment, Elea's voice returned, "Your son's life may depend upon your compliance."

OPTIONS: SOUNDS LIKE MORE PMs, DOESN'T IT.
  • SHANE:
    • Fire on both or either of the two men. I will leave whether you hit them -- dead or not -- to your own discretion, but be aware that they are both preparing to fire at you.
    • Flee or hide. You will get shot at, but whether they hit you or not is again up to your discretion.
    • Try to negotiate. (They won't. :D )
    • CYOR.
  • JENNA
    • Sit tight, whether calm or panicked.
    • Ask what Elea means about your son.
    • Do as you're told.
    • CYOR.

Still crouched and pointing the pistol at the two guys I see Sketchy drop his and at the same time I see Baldy raising his to fire. Knowing he didn't listen when I told him not to do it...."Son of a......" as I hear the shot ring out and the window shatter behind me. Without thinking I squeeze off two shots.

The first shot catches Baldy in the thigh and the second hits him in the side as he begins to go down. Sketchy jumps and watches as his friend goes down on the ground and his gun clatters away from him on the sidewalk. As he drops I continue looking at Sketchy but I scream out..."JENNA?!? ARE YOU OKAY?"

Jenna drove the car to Shane, shouting "Get in the car!" Once he was inside, she put the phone on speaker. "What the hell are you talking about? What the fuck does this have to do with my brother? If you think this is funny, I swear to God..." She drove away from the scene, her face now intense, furious. She glanced down at her arm, which was now bleeding from the bullet that had gone through the window. "Fuck..."

SITUATION:

"You have lost a valuable opportunity to complete your mission, Shane Williams," Elea says, ignoring the question from Shane's involuntary cohort. "Jenna Thompson, drive to 1220 SW Broadwell. A man will meet you. Follow his instructions."

On the screen of Jenna's phone, a message appears that says "Call Waiting" and includes her brother's name. [OOC -- I need that name in your next post.] A moment later, another message appears, this one saying "New Voice Mail". Before Jenna can even think of checking the message, it plays over the speaker.

"Sis," an excited but exhausted sounding male voice calls, "I love it here! How did you find it? And how can you afford it? Did you know they have an aviary out back ...that's birds ...and the patients can go out there every day, and they are going to let me name a bird! And my new room, oh my god! I have my own room here. And the doctor says--"

The message is cut short by Elea's voice -- still as calm and steady as always -- saying, "Your brother needs you, Jenna Thompson. Please do not fail him. Shane Williams, the weapon you possess now ties you to a murder. Lower the passenger window and throw it out in seven ...six ...five--"

Looking out the window reveals that you are about to pass over a bridge spanning the West End slough.

"--four ...three ...two ...one ...throw the weapon now Shane Williams."
OPTIONS:
  • Do as you each are told. (You can PM one another, but it's probably not necessary. You decide.)
  • Discuss Jenna's injury. (If you are driving as told, you will have 5 minutes that you can post. Elea will only interrupt if a comment is made that indicates Jenna is in need of medical attention.)
  • Discuss Jenna's brother. (Same 5 minute comment. Discuss away.)
  • CYOR. (Don't act for more than a few seconds or few moments. Remember, Elea is listening to you ...maybe ...or maybe not.)

I listen as Elea's voice tells me of losing the opportunity and then I scream towards the phone. "Dammit. What fucking opportunity? They were going to kill us if I didn't shoot them!!!" Then Elea starts up again about your brother and me tossing the pistol. I look out the window as we begin crossing the bridge.

"--four ...three ...two ...one...." I look down at the pistol and throw it out the window watching as it falls into the water below. Then I turn towards you. I see your arm bleeding for the graze of the bullet and I see the reaction on your face from hearing your brother's voice and Elea saying he needs you.

"Jenna...Listen....I know you don't care for me too much but thanks for pulling up and getting me out of there. We are in this together. We have to help each other out. Tell me about your brother. What's his name? What's he like? What's going on with him?"

I look down at your arm again. "And maybe we need to get somewhere soon and let me take care of your arm."
