Danger Room Simulation: Genesis

Hank stopped, sniffing the air.

'Logan, back me up a sec. is that blood in the air?'

"I know this scent, its Polaris' blood." Logan said "And plenty of it, lets get in there and take a look around." he said grabbing the door and opening it all the way. "Ill take point." he said as he walked in, claws out. "Looks like we got us a trail in here boys."

Hank sighed.

'Hmm, i thought so. Be vigilant guys, we don't know what to expect.'

He gave this a second thought.

'Lets just expect the worse, Lets hope Polaris is ok.'

Cyclops began to walk forward silently, each step descending deeper and deeper into the compound. It begins to grow darker and darker for a moment but then he feels an opening approaching. More light begins to illuminate the area until Cyclops is standing in a facility large enough to hold several football stadiums.

The sight is staggering. And appalling.

Lining the ground is destruction everywhere. Decapitated and maimed sentinels clutter the complex. Walking forward Cyclops begins to recognize the area.

"This...this is where the distress signal came from." Replaying the events in his mind Cyclops looks around and starts walking in a circle trying to find the precise location that occurred on the video.

As he does so he notices a pile of debris to his far left. Under it he can see the faint outline of the uniform of Magneto.

Logan looked around the area taking in all the sights. "This place got torn up bad." he said as followed cyclops' gaze to the pile of debris "Is that Magneto?" he asked as he went over to investigate.

Revelations

"No Wolverine, that WAS Magneto."

A figure speaks from deep in the complex. Though the place is well lit everywhere the figure travels the lights above and near him begin to dim as the energy visibly leaves the light bulbs and conductors and enters into the still darkened figure.

Finally, his eyes brighten red, so brightly that his unmistakable figure becomes visible.

Hovering above the ground facing the trio is Gabriel Summers, the forgotten X-Man known as Vulcan.

"Well, well, well, if it ain't little Summers" Wolverine said, deploying his claws. "What brings you to this neck of the woods?"

Vulcan

Hovering in the air Vulcan is obviously surprised by Wolverine's comment. His eyes return to their normal brown and the pyrokinetic stunts he was performing to scare the X-Men stop.

For a moment the sounds of energy sources being exploded and pulled at the whim of the energy manipulator come to a sudden silence.

Falling to the ground slowly Vulcan's confused and startled face comes into clear view of the X-Men.

Slowly, almost hesitantly Vulcan answers the feral X-Man.

"For....for the prophesy of course. Wasn't that why you came!?" Vulcan asks.

(100,100)

"Prophecy? No, we came to see what was tearing this place up so bad and stop it." Wolverine said. "Looks like we found out what, so put 'em up bub!"

Wolverine launched himself at Vulcan, claws extended. Hard.

Vulcan

(100, 100)

Strangely, the mutant that once bested the strongest of X-Men seems genuinely surprised at the X-Men's questioning. By lowering himself to the ground he has opened himself up to Wolverine's attack.

Even after the feral X-Man lunges at him, Vulcan seems so fixated on the faces of the mutants that he does not immediately defend himself. Instead the piercing stab of Wolverine's adamantium claws jars him back to reality.

"Ugh!" Vulcan shrieks as he feels Wolverine's claws sink into him. Survival instinct kicks in and without thinking he quickly raises his hand to stop Wolverine from shoving his claws in deep enough to render a fatal blow. (-30 HE + 50% augmentation= -45 HE)

"No!" the energy manipulator screams as his hands grow crimson and he shoots Wolverine at point blank range with a redirect blast. (-5 ME)

"Shut up you beast." Vulcan spits venomously hoping the remaining strength Wolverine attacked with is directed in a slash toward the feral mutant's vocal cords.

Flying backwards to release himself off of Wolverine's claws, Vulcan resumes his position in the air high above the 3 X-Men. (-5 ME) Energy leaks out of the wound left by Wolverine's attack.

Seething in anger energy crackles out of Vulcan's eyes and hands.

"I will not sacrifice my people as you X-Men once sacrificed me! The Shi'ar will be saved! Even if it means killing you."

The flying mutant surveys the battlefield.

"3 against 1? This hardly seems fair. Scott, why don't you help your brother out?" Vulcan says as he aims a blast at Scott's brain hoping to tap into his vast resource of mutant energy (-30 ME)

Wolverine grinned in satisfaction as his claws sank into Vulcan. Vulcans return blast knocked him down, (5 H.E.-50% DR=3 H.E.)but did little else as he rolled back onto his feet. "That all you got kid?" wolverine laughed as he he jumped onto a large computer and launched himself at the rogue mutant. Claws searching for the heart and carotid artery (30 M.E. -75% ER=12 M.E.)

Vulcan

(60, 55)

Vulcan watched as the diminutive X-Man attempted to shorten the distance between them. One of Vulcan's hands still projected a blast toward Scott in the hopes of accessing his power while his other hand aimed in the direction of Wolverine.

Vulcan fired an energy blasts that goes past the mutant however and hits the large computer that he leaped from (-10 ME). Tapping into the source of energy that lies behind the computer, a surge of electricity ignites the computer and a large streak of electricity flows from the outlet into the computer and follows Wolverine (30)

"You're fast Logan, but can you think of something faster? The electricity powers this complex is no different from the electrical impulses that travel through the brain creating the sensation of thought. Obviously, you didn't think before attacking you mongrel." Vulcan says as he turns to face the mutant and fly backwards (-5 ME)

Wolverine growled and stuck his claws into a low hanging girder, using his momentum to flip over and land on top of it. He then jumped to another one and once again dove toward Vulcan (30 M.E.-75% ER=12) "Im plenty fast crybaby." he said, with a manic glint in his eye, as his claws searched for blood and flesh.

Cyclops

(100, 100)

Taking advantage at the large height from which he projected the blast Cyclops dodged out of the way of Vulcan's blast.

Cyclops screams into his communicator.

"HELLION!!! We miscalculated! Its Vulcan! The House of M was beaten by Vulcan!"

Cyclops looks toward his teammate Beast.

Who had the power to take out the entire House of M? They thought it was Apocalypse. And sadly, he would have been a mercy. As Cyclops watches Wolverine battle instinct and years of training tells him to release an optic blast to down the flying opponent.

But his heart knows it would only give Vulcan more power to use against him.

How do you beat an enemy, whose powers are your very own?

Gabriel listens to Scott Summers distress message and smiles.

"Magneto did the same." he announces. "Now, the game is complete." he announces as his eyes crackle with energy.

He looks at Beast. "I'll leave your brain waves functioning long enough for you to tell your friend that he just killed his teammates."

Turning his attention back to Wolverine, Vulcan decides to torture the clawed mutant.

Vulcan watches as the electricity that escaped from the computer still chases Wolverine (-5 ME, 30). Seeing the mutant leap from surface to surface in the hopes of striking him amuses him.

Vulcan looks at Beast and decides he doesn't want any more X-Men occupying the skies with him. As he flies, Vulcan uses his eyes in an attempt to drain Beast's mutant energy to replace his own. (-5 ME, 30)

"Wolverine, does the Professor still run a school or what? Would you like to know a something he taught me?" he taunts.

Mocking the Professor's voice Vulcan begins.

"The electromagnetic field is the term for the physics involved in objects with an electric charge. One of the most common examples of the effects of this force is a magnet. The Professor showed me" Vulcan's directs one of his hands toward Wolverine. He feels the kinetic energy of Wolverine's motion and wants to use it against him.

"The Professor showed me that I control those electric charges Wolverine. I'm going to show, that I control YOU!" the mutant hisses as he fires a redirect blast using the force of Wolverine's own movement (-5 ME)

Wolverine smiled, this was the chance he had been waiting for. Waiting for Vulcan to be busy with his eyes and hands he hit the ground and rolled, The electricity sparking out on the floor grabbing a very jagged and pointy beam that had been destroyed in Vulcan's battle with the House of M. He lifted it and threw, (50 M.E.-75% ER=12 M.E.) it flew straight and true. "Enjoy Punk!" he said as he absorbed the redirect blast (30 H.E.-50% DR=15 H.E.)

Beast sat down simply and thought about the fight, as well as Vulcan's words, knowing that his comm system was online.

'You said something fufilling a prophesy? What do you mean by that Gabriel?'

Another thought occured to him.

'You have energy manipulating powers, which control everything BUT magic, yet it mystifies me, as to why you let the transmission showing what happened here, leave the complex?'

He secretly hoped Helion or Nocturne would understand the double nature of his words, though truthfully he had to admit he was curius, though, when it cam to as to why did he let the transmission leave, he thought he already knew the answer.

Vulcan

(30, 55)

Vulcan's eyes still radiated with power as he attempted to drain the mutant energy from Beast (already subtracted 5 ME).

Vulcan watched from the sky as Wolverine attempted a defense. "Pitiable." the mutant manipulator announces. "But what should I expect? There was a reason the Professor chose me to lead the X-Men before he chose you to be one you dog."

Vulcan watched as the electricity he controlled still followed Wolverine from the computer console he leaped from (30). Even after feeling the wrath of his redirect blast Wolverine did not question why his two teammates refused to attack him. Vulcan decided it was time to show him.

The beam Wolverine threw could not have been better aimed. As such, it could not have been a better weapon against him. Firing a redirect blast at the beam was easy enough (-5 ME) but the biggest prize lay on the ground next to Wolverine.

The sparkling, open electrical current seemed to call out to Vulcan as though he were its master, begging him to help fry the Canadian X-Man.

Vulcan

"You said something of fulfilling a prophecy, what do you mean by that Gabriel?"

"Do you really not know!? The Books of Fate should have....why are you even here??? Did Magneto not tell you!? HAHAHA!!! So they kept it to themselves. How typical. How human. But not MY people. The Shi'ar have united. We know no foe among us, and we have no ally outside ourselves. We will save our people. I assumed your planet's people had done the same. Every other world we know has. I was ready to face every X-Man, no, every superhuman on Earth to save my people from The Guardians. It seems that the Great War against Earth, the greatest assault the Shi'ar ever planned need not take place after all when the people of Earth do not even know the magnitude of the event upon them. The Time of Retrieval has come X-Men. And you are obviously not ready to face it."

Suddenly a strange expression crosses Vulcan's face. A twisted expression of sadness on the monster's face.

"I....I could have defended you. Earth me away, mankind turned me away, YOU X-MEN TURNED ME AWAY!!!" the mutant screams almost agonized. Tears begin to stream down his face.

"You turned your backs on me and my friends and left us to die." Suddenly smoke comes from Vulcan's face as his tears are burned away into steam.

"Today, I do the same to you."

Vulcan looks at each of the X-Men. He stares at his brother in his eyes. His clear brown eyes stares at them all. And with a quick glow of red, his pupils are gone.

And with only a sonic boom announcing his departure, in less time than it takes to think so is he.

(52,82)

Wolverine kipped-up from the ground and dodged the redirected beam. "Goddammit!" he cursed as he leapt away from the electrical current. then just like that Vulcan departed. Wolverine moved over to the other Xmen with him. "Feel free to jump in any time boys." he said, an edge of annoyance in his voice. "Well, at least it was decent scrap. Are we done here boyscout?" he asked Cyclops.

(95/100)

Beast sighed as Vulcan left, and rubbed his forehead, thinking through all he heard.

The books of Fate, the united Shi'ar, Guardians, The time of retrieval.

Hank swayed, his mind working too hard, he rubbed his temples, wondering if he should have informed his friends about his health.

He collapsed to floor. (-75 health)

Cyclops

"Cyclops, what can we do to help?"

Cyclops went silent.

"C'mon Hellion! Talia! You gotta figure this out!" he thought to himself. Cyclops did not want to give any strategy over the comm device. He worried that Vulcan would only use it against them. Hellion and Noctorne would have to coordinate a plan from the mansion, the only way to plot without Vulcan knowing.

Cyclops tries to process what he has just heard. What could Vulcan possibly be talking about? Suddenly a thought pierces Cyclops that makes him stand straight up.

The question isn't what Vulcan is talking about but what the hell is Danger talking about!? What kind of program is she running? The longer that the simulation has occurred the more and more she has deviated from the simulation Scott and Xavier instructed her to produce.

Scott listens to Gabriel speak of abandoning the X-Men just as they abandoned him. Despite his questions about the simulation Danger has created he must admit it is compelling. What is Vulcan talking about when he says "abandon them"?

Then in an instant he is gone. Checking himself, Scott realizes he is none the worse for wear. Wolverine took some hits but seems uninjured. And Hank is.......suddenly Cyclops looks toward Beast to find his friend has collapsed.

“Cyclops, we done here? No imminent danger, no immediate threats, right?”

"No. Beast is down. Danger! End simulation now!" the scene becomes grainy and pixilated like when one looks closely at a television monitor. The setting and all but the X-Men present begin to turn a light white color until they fade from sight completely. The only ones who remain are the gathered X-Men including their fallen teammate.

Cyclops rushes over to Beast.

"Elixir! We need you over here now!"
