Darkest Dreams (closed for Ravenloft)

Charlie giggled maniacally at his mention of getting a taser for her. "Oh! I know! I'll get a taser and then cosplay as Storm! It'll be great!"

She couldn't deny that she liked the way Stu's gaze traveled over her as he checked out her costume. Had it even occurred to her that such a thing was possible, she might have thought her crush was almost unnatural - and it was. Stu's repeated feeding was creating some kind of... feedback loop between them. Even if she was consciously oblivious, subconsciously there was some part of her instinctively aware that he was the source of her pleasure and arousal over the past few days. And, as a result, he was directly responsible for how good she'd been feeling recently.

The door to the backroom was right behind the counter, and with the door open, they could see out into the shop and could hear any new customers coming in without much issue. It was the perfect layout for some relaxing, snacking, and gaming.

"What do you want to play?" she asked, holding up the cartridges. She only had one multiplayer game - Mario Kart. The rest were various single player works of art, like Super Mario 64. Normally, she wouldn't have brought them, but she actually enjoyed passing the controller back and forth to play single player games "with" someone else.

Plus, you know, it gave her a chance to check him out without him looking while he was playing and she wasn't.

"That's brilliant, Charlie! I love that idea! Fashionable AND functional!" He loved that crazy laugh of hers, he'd never heard her laugh like that before! She wore the poison ivy costume like it was a second skin, she looked so natural in it, one might think she had been copying for years, considering how relaxed and happy she was, showing off the goods, as it were. Or was her exuberance just for him? She definitely liked the way he was looking at her, he could feel it. It was only a matter of time before she became aware of this supernatural bond they were forming, he just hoped she would understand and be willing to accept it. This was a pretty dangerous game he was playing, if she turned against him, he'd have to run, find another place to hide, restart his life over somewhere else. What a pain in the ass that is! Plus, he'd be heart broken if she rejected him, so there was that too.

He had a nice black leather couch in the back, so he could take cat naps during the day, when things were slow, but still be close enough to hear if anyone actually came in. It worked out in his favor today, in that they both had a comfy place to sit next to each other. He had already set up a folding table for the console and an old TV to play it on. "Do you have Tomb Raider?" He asked, looking over her choices. "I think I have a copy of Golden Eye in the display case we could play too! Oh! Or Perfect Dark?"

They got to playing for a few hours, while the store was dead and things were going so good that before long she was leaning up against him like they had been friends for years. He even playfully fed her cheetos in the most adorable way, kind of teasing her with then so that she almost had to bite his fingers to snatch them away from him. It was awesome!

Then... a customer walked in... Stu sighed, he didn't want to move, he was sooo comfy, with Charlie cuddled up against him, he didn't want to make her move either. Maybe next time he'd take a cue from Clerks and leave some bills and change on the counter with a sign that said. "Be honest, you are being watched!" He snickered as he though putting a Cyclops standee behind the counter would be a clever gag. Most days, he felt as stiff and bored as one, waiting for the same five or six guys to come buy their pulls. "Shh... let's pretend we're not here..." he joked, only half serious. "And if the come to the counter, one of us should moan like a ghost, see if we can freak them out! Then you can spring out at them, maybe theyll pee themselves in fright?!" He was whispering excitedly as he hit the mute button on the tv.

Charlie was wonderfully comfortable, curled up on the couch next to Stu. She had her legs folded up underneath her to ward the chill, and couldn't quite help but move closer and closer to Stu as a source of warmth, until she was sitting leaning against him with her head resting on his shoulder. He was so comfortable! And, now that she could feel his torso and arm pressed against her (at least, sort of), she found herself wondering once again what he might look like without a shirt...

She was pulled from her fantasies by the sound of the door opening, and then Stu's suggestion that they pretend not to be there in order to scare them.

She pressed her hand over her mouth to contain her giggle, hunching closer to him in an attempt to stay out of sight. "I don't know," she whispered. "I think they might assume they're hearing us have sex instead of hearing the moans of a ghost..." She winked at him. "I like the idea of jumping out though, let's do it!"

If no one had come in for another hour, the two of them might have found out what each others naked bodies felt like, but now they would have to wait for another day. It was probably for the best, taking things slow, at least in the waking world, being an incubus, relationships usually burned hot and fast, or not at all. This would be diferent, forming a friendship first, before the sex.

"Really?" He tried to pretend like having sex with her hadn't entered his thoughts yet. He didn't want her to think that's all he was interested in her for. She was pretty cool, spending her free day hanging out with him like this. "Okay, you go sneak out that way and I'll hide over there and on the count of three, we can both spring out, shouting. Okay?"

Charlie cackled evilly as Stu set out the plan, but the sound ended up drawing the attention of one of the customers, who approached the counter, calling out, "Hello?"

Cursing under her breath, Charlie stood and mouthed a quick "Sorry" to Stu, and then went out into the store. "Hey! Sorry, just a sec, the owner's just in the back."

The two men's jaws both dropped when they saw her, and she blushed a bit, suddenly aware of their attentions. As much as she liked dressing up for Stu, it was a little more uncomfortable in front of strangers. Still, she figured she'd get used to it, as long as they didn't all hit on her. Which is exactly what one of them did.

He was short, kind of round, and clearly didn't take particularly good care of himself. He leaned toward her over the counter, grinning lecherously at her. "Oh no, he can stay back there as long as he wants. Its you I'd like to talk to, my lady."

Charlie winced. "I'm pretty sure it's not, actually. I don't technically work here yet."

He shook his head, reaching for her hand. "Aw, come on! Come on out here and show us the rest of the costume!"

He friend giggled and added, "Yeah, and then maybe you can show us what's under it."

Charlie jerked backwards, glowering at them. "Ew! No!"

Stu mouthed "n-n-n-n-n-no!" Waving his hands to cut her off from his hiding space as Charlie cackled, but it was too late. One of them, Jeff, one of his regulars heard her and called out hello, curiously as he knocked on the glass counter top. Stu clapped a hand to his forehead, snickering, shaking his head. "It's okay, we'll get en next time!" He mouthed back, collecting himself as she rushed out to greet them. "Woah!" He whispered, trying to stop her but she was already engaging them.

He was about to follow her when he heard what Jeff said he winced. "Ugh... Jeff... what are you doing, man?!" He thought, putting the words right in Charlies head by accident. "You're better than that! Lay off, would ya? Shes been here longer than you... How many times has she beaten you in magic? Get some self respect, wash your hair and come back when you lose some weight, dude!" They were all the things he was thinking but didn't dare say out loud and, not raining it, he was sharing them with Charlie.

Okay, enough was enough... "ahem!" Stu stepped out from the back, eyeing the two of them, it 2 as like an old western, well, almost, he wasn't wearing a ten gallon hat, he had no spurs to jingle as he walked, nor was he packing a set of six shooters, but he sure felt like he was with the cowed looks of shame on the two of them.

"I think you two owe Charlie an appology, boys?" He didn't want to lose any of their business, but he wasn't about to let them get away with their actions, not without saying something. "And maybe a pack of Magic?" He gave her a quick glance, tapping his finger over the newest box of boosters.

Tension just seemed to drain out of Charlie's body once she heard Stu's voice telling the other guys off. Except... they didn't react, and she realized she'd... what, imagined it? She turned to look back into the back room, confused, when Stu came out and actually told them off.

They both looked appropriately cowed, and the one she'd whooped last month at Magic actually followed up on Stu's suggestion and bought a pack of Magic cards for her as a token of his apology. The other... seemed a little less apologetic and just seemed kind of pissed that he'd been caught being a creeper. They both hurried out of the store after that, clearly humiliated. They didn't even stay long enough to get their usual pulls - which, at least, probably meant they'd be back. Whether that was a good thing or not remained to be seen.

Charlie turned to Stu as they left the store, and smiled sweetly. "Thanks. I didn't realize how much weirder it would be for me to be dressed like this in front of other people." She paused, blushing as she realized belatedly that her words had carried the implication that there was something different about him. And there was, to be honest. She really liked him. They got along, they shared the same interests, he had an adorably dorky sense of humor that she loved, and he respected her.

Her gaze dropped to the ground, her heart leaping into her throat as the words came, almost unbidden to her lips. "I, um... Did you maybe want to get some dinner with me some time? Like, maybe tonight?" She paused, realizing that it sounded like she was asking if he wanted to order pizza to the store or something. "I mean, like... going out. On a... date. If you want."

Jeff, the wort of the two, was the one to buy her a pack, at least. "Ugh! Those two! I swear, they'd stick it in a watermelon if it was warm..." he tried to make light of the situation, even though he was pretty well disgusted by the two of them. "At least one of them felt bad enough to buy you a pack. Go ahead and Crack ig, it's yours! The least they could do for being such lechers!"

Jeff had at least been repentant enough to foot her that free pack, Joe, not so much. Stu suspected that it was cause Joe wasn't as fat as Jeff and didn't feel as much self loathing as Jeff did. Like he was some prise. That irritated Stu to no end! As ignorantly bold as Jeff was, he could be redeemed , but Joe... He was just kind of an entitled Duche bag that Stu wouldn't mind seeing put in his place as a grade a wanker. He couldn't help but to project the image of Joe strung up like a fish, flopping around on a giant pole to Charlie, he was so annoyed with the guy.

"Well, boys will be boys..." Stu tried to explain, not even wanting to think about all the dirty mental assaults his female regulars were bound to have but hidd behind their superior maturity when they finally got to see Charlie like this!

Gods! She was so sweet and shy about the way she asked him out on a date! He was not expecting her to be so bold! "Of course! Charlotte, I thought you would never ask!" He used her full, Feminine name for the first time... ever. Marking the moment as something extra special.

To be perfectly honest, Charlie had assumed that he just saw her as another one of the guys, the way everyone did. Though, she supposed wandering around in a skimpy Poison Ivy costume would help in that particular regard...

She grinned, a bright, genuine expression of happiness, when he agreed to go out with her. "Wait, really?" She sounded surprised, then began to laugh. "I was kind of expecting you to say no, to be honest... Okay! It's a date!"

They still had a few hours to kill before it was anywhere close to dinner, however, and she wandered back into the back room and flopped back down on the couch, beckoning for him to join her, holding the controller up with one hand.

"Yeah, really! What? Why would I ever turn down a date with you, Charlie? You're the coolest! I would have asked you out myself, but I didn't think you would want to go out with a nerd like me. Actually, I was trying to work up the courage to ask you, but you beat me to it, you're so awesome." He stood in the door way to the back room, a look of admiration on his face as she fell into the comfort of his couch. He smiled and let out a happy sigh as she motioned for him to rejoin her.

"You know, I could get used to this, having you hang out with me, like this. Who else gets to cuddle up next to a pretty woman dressed in comic book costumes on a lazy saturday? I must be the luckiest guy in the city!" He came and sat next to her, eager to pick up where they left off. No one else was likely to come in until around six or so. Maybe there was time to make out with her? "You know, we could put a movie on and just relax, if you want to." That was his way of saying he wanted to focus his attention more on her than some game.

Charlie grinned at his suggestion that they watch a movie, and nodded eagerly. "Yeah! Okay, what movie do you want to watch?" She grabbed at his hand and pulled him down onto the couch next to her.

They picked a movie and Charlie was happy to shuffle closer and closer to him until he had to move his arm up and around her shoulders. Now that he'd admitted to being interested in her, she felt a little more comfortable with the whole show-of-affection thing. By the time the movie had properly started, they ended up lying on the couch, with Charlie wedged happily between the back of the couch and Stu's body, her head resting comfortably on his shoulder.

"Oh gosh, I've got a ton of movies... um... do you like Moulin Rouge? Or... What Dreams May Come? I've got Quills too, but that might be a little too... risqué for a first date. Those are just the ones that came to mind, here, why don't you come up and help me pick something out, preferably something you really like, or haven't seen yet?"

Once the picked a movie together and cuddled up on the couch he couldn't help but look over at her, curious to know what she was thinking. Was she as thrilled as he was to be in his arms? Did she want to kiss? Fool around? Being in costume like she was, made it impossible for him to focus on the movie. God, he wanted her!

Charlie was happy watching the movie, but after a few minutes, she looked up slightly to notice Stu looking down at her with unmistakable desire in his eyes. She drew a sharp breath and blushed, smiling at him. Then, feeling a little uncertain, she shifted slightly upwards until her head was nestled more or less next to his. She didn't kiss him - despite being relatively confident in herself, she was really uncertain in the realm of romance and dating, and she felt more than a little unsure about how to approach this whole change in their relationship.

So, instead, she simply settled in, close enough that her nose brushed against his cheek for a moment, and smiled at him. Close enough that he could turn and kiss her if he wanted. She just couldn't make that last little leap herself.

Stu couldn't pass up an offer like this, although he could sense her uncertainty, her shy smile won his heart and he closed the distance between their lips, pressing his to hers with a firm yet tender desire. His other hand quickly caressed her cheek and he laced his fingers through joker hair. There was a definite spark between them the moment they kissed. Stu made a hot little sound in the back of his throat as he parted his lips against hers, breathing a hot breath against her tender lips. His eyes drifted closed and his concentrationon the illusion that his his True form began to slip. His hands were the first thing to be exposed, but thankfully they were, nether of then, exactly looking at his hands... yet.

Charlie licked her lips, her gaze hooding with desire as he pulled away from the kiss, breathing hard. She smiled at him, feeling suddenly like the barrier had been broken, and slipped one of her hands up from his shoulder to the back of his head, and pulled him back in for another, passionate kiss.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to do that," she breathed, giggling.

"Judging from how hard you're breathing, Id guess it was far too long." Stu teased, looking into her eyes with longing as he was about to touch her cheek again, only to notice that his hands were no longer hidden, but leathery, black and clawed. He yelped and pulled her closer so she wouldn't notice. "I... um..." how was he going to explain this? There really was no way he could keep her from seeing his hands if he did anything but hold her. And at some point he was going to have to let her go. "Just... let me hold you. Oh god..." he groaned. "Okay, um... there's something... I have to show you... just... don't freak out, okay?" He was terribly afraid of how she might react. Slowly, nervously, he pulled his hands away and lifted them up in front of her to see "I... um... have some... explaining to do, I think..."

At first, Charlie was just entirely confused about what he was doing when he pulled her hard against him, holding her tight. "Are you okay?" she asked, squirming a little to look up at him, concern in her eyes.

When he asked her to just let him hold her, she frowned and slipped her arms tight around his torso, knowing, now, that something was very wrong. She pressed a kiss to his neck, waiting for him to say something else. She'd expected something emotional. Something maybe about a previous relationship that made him freak out about this one.... Oh god, maybe he had a girlfriend already!

Only then, he drew back, revealing his hand, and she yelped, surprised, jerking backwards. Not so much out of any kind of horror or disgust, exactly. Just... mostly out of real shock. She reached for him, about to touch his hands, then suddenly drew back, as if she were afraid that whatever it was would hurt him if she touched it. "What... what happened?"

"Im... fine, really... just... um... different? God, you are like the best thing that's happened to me in a long time and I... I just want you to know... what I really am. But I'm afraid you'll be scared of me or not want anything to do with me if I tell you..." she was concerned about him? She wasn't freaking out and running away from him? "N-nothing happened... I... those are my real... hands... im... listen, do you believe in the supernatural? Like, angels and demons and stuff? Well... im... oh, you're just gonna thing I'm crazy or weird... but... I'm only partially human. Theres this other part of me... that I try to hide, and, well, I slipped up and now you can see part of what I really look like... I want to show you the rest, but I'm afraid of how you might react. You know? This is really scary for me, I'm not supposed to let anyone see what I really am... god! Am I bad at this!"

Charlie simply watched, wide-eyed, as Stu tried to explain what was going on. When he mentioned the angels and demons, she actually started to relax, and once he finished she sighed heavily.

"Stu! Is this some kind of prank?" she demanded. "It's not funny!" Well, it must have been a little funny, because she was trying to hide a smile. "I thought you'd hurt yourself or something! Jesus, you are a way better actor than I ever would have given you credit for. You looked like..."

Only, then she had to stop, because he still looked nervous as hell and a little bit upset that she'd assumed he was joking. She looked back and forth between his hand and his face for a moment. If it was a joke, his hand would have to be some kind of glove... right? She reached out and touched the back of his hand - the skin was smooth, soft, and shockingly warm. Like real skin, if a little more leathery. She yelped again, drawing her hand back, her eyes nearly popping out of her head.

"N-no. That's not... this is a joke. It has to be. Angels aren't real! What's going on?!"

"You don't believe me... ugh, I wish that it was a joke. I'm sorry Charlie, I really am, it's no joke. I didn't mean to scare you, really, it's just that kiss... I lost my concentration and now I can't hide my hands from you anymore. Theres more though... it's not just my hands, my whole body is like that. Kiss me again, you'll see, I can't stay focused on my illusion when you kiss me. It will fall and you will see what I really look like. I just hope you don't run away..." he shook his head, lowering his eyes, feeling awful that she was finding out this way. "No joke, I'm... what you would call... an incubus. I've been... um..." should he come clean and tell her he's been visiting her dreams? That might be a deal breaker at the moment. "Well... I'll just let you figure out what that means, I'm just too scared to admit it right now. I'm afraid that you'll leave and I really want you to stay." His head was in a spin, he wanted to tell her everything, but wasn't sure how much she could take.

Charlie licked her lips, looking uncertain. But he was afraid she was going to leave? Why? She still didn't fully believe that he was really an incubus. That seemed too insane. Whatever it was, it could be explained, right?

She reached for him, taking his face between her hands, and kissed him again. It started off soft and hesitant - he seemed to pained by whatever it was he was revealing to her, she didn't want to push. But the longer they kissed, the deeper the kiss got, and soon, she was gasping against his lips, forgetting all about why she had started kissing him in the first place.

Stu lost himself in the kiss, lips folding over lips, the lightest touch of his tongue at the tender seam of her lips, holding her close and flexing his hands carefully up and down her back, kneading like a kitten at her clothes but lightly so as not to scratch her with his claws. The more they kissed, the more his illusion dwindled. See, this way, it wouldn't really be his fault, he could say that he had done his best to keep his true nature hidden. It wasn't his fault that her lips made him lose his concentration, right? Right? The blackness continued to creep up his arms from his wrists and spilled out under his shirt and splash in a cascade of revelation up his neck as well as down his hips and legs. The worst was the fact that his clothes were illusions too.

God, he had forgotten about that! He was not only turning back into his true self, he was becoming naked! "Shit!" He gasped, breaking the kiss, quickly putting a gentle hand over her eyes and snatching a pillow to cover his lap just in time to hide his naked crotch. "Um..." this was really embracing, being caught naked. "I kind of forgot, I'm naked... get ready for a shock, Charlie. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit..." he slowly pulled his hand away to let her see him as he really was, all black leather skin, wings, horns, glowing red eyes and everything. Even a freaking tail! Man, he was a freak! He braced himself for her to scream, beat on him in terror and run the fuck away.

Charlie offered a muffled noise of annoyance when he pushed his hand down over her eyes, shielding her vision from the actual sight of him for a long moment.

Then, when his hand pulled away, she gave a little shriek of surprise, pushing herself back against the couch for a moment as she took in the whole sight of him. He was still man-shaped, mostly. His skin had gone darker, and he seemed taller, though she couldn't tell if that was true or if it as just the nature of his horns and wings that made him seem so. He looked, more or less, like a naked man with wings. And a tail. And horns. Which was weird, but... still, he seemed like he was still more or less himself. Especially given the way he was fidgeting under her gaze like a teenage boy naked for the first time in front of a girl. It was adorable, but so hilariously out of place on the demonic being standing before her that the juxtaposition made her start giggling.

She pressed her hands over her mouth, trying to contain the sound, but she couldn't help it. "I'm sorry," she gasped, between fits of laughter. "I just... Oh my god, you're so adorable, Stu!" Which only made her break down into another fit of giggles at the weirdness of a demon named Stu. "Stu... Is that your real name?"

"Sorry, I just... have to cover myself." He added in response to her sound of annoyance over him covering her eyes. "Okay... now... you can look" he said with a nervous sigh, tensing up. And sure enough, she shrieked and drew back. He winced and closed his eyes, expecting her to go into a fight or flight response. But... something was different this time, he cracked one eye open to see her examining him curiously, apparently finding something humorous, because she started to giggle.

And her mirth only grew, even as she covered her mouth. He blinked dumb up at her, not getting what was so funny."hey..." he groaned, embarassed and annoyed by her reaction, it was the exact opposite of what he had been expecting. "Adorable?" He scratched one of his horns, confused, this was not what he was expecting. "Am not, I'm a horrible monster. Seriously, how can you stand to look at me?"

"What? What's so damn funny? I'm a freak! Why are you laughing?!" She asked if Stu was his real name. "Well, it's what's on my birth certificate... this time... I've had to change it enough times, I have a journal for each, um, life I've lived..." he was starting to see why she thought it was so funny. "That's not the worst name I've had, I lived about twenty years as a Farnum Openhiemer once. Everyone called me Farny. I was a shoe maker."

His comment about being once named Farnum just made her laugh harder, and she doubled over, her cheeks going pink. "Really? Farnum? Don't you get to name yourself? Why would you pick that? Seriously?" Then, quite abruptly, her laughter died off, her eyes went wide, and she straightened, gazing at him in wonder. "Wait, wait, you've lived multiple lives? How old are you?"
