Dawn of Magic:An Animal Quest

Black Jack

IC: The young women look confused as she recited the name I called her. Oh damn thats not the right name is it. I felt bandits tail hit me on the back of the head. He leaned in and wispered into my ear, 'Her name is Karen.'

"Yep thats right Karen. I'm going to take a boat to the mainland in a few days." I turned to Bandit. "This brings me to you. Are you interested in heading to the mainland with me? We need a few more people for the crew."

After waiting a few moments, Charlie decided he would ask somebody on the docks about the expedition, soon his eyes fell on a worn and old looking boat and two animals standing near it. An older looking bear that looked to be older and more worn then the boat itself and a rather odd looking Zebra who seem sort of out of place but Charlie didn't know why. After he paced nervously for a second or two Charlie started to apporch them

"Excuses me gentlemen ummmm do you know if this boat is heading to the mainland?" Charlie tried to keep his eyes straight ahead of him but he found his eyes wandering to the bear and his scars, he knew it was rude to stare but he couldn't help himself. He found his mind wondering how many battles he had seem. He caught himself staring again and shot his eyes quickly down to the ground, averting eye contact with either the Zebra or the Bear.

Jay L. Break

Jay turned to the newly arrived creature, smiling a wide, toothy smile that disloged a corner of his goatee. He pretended not to notice.

"That's what I am trying to find out my self, good sir. Perhaps if Mr..." he floundered for the right name and got lucky this time, "Bär would be so kind to tell us?" he turned back to the big, old bear as he spoke, stroking and reattaching his goatee all at the same time.

Charile raised his eye brow at the zebra's goatee but pretended to pay it no mind but all the while wondering *what a peculiar person.* Then he turned to the bear shallowing hard and lookeing around nervously. He hoped this bear was more friendly then the last one he had encontered.

Bandit huffed and looked away. "Not... Interested."

Karen could only sigh and look at BlackJack. "I'm sorry Black... But both Ly- er... Bandit... And I, sort of have a history with the mainland... Its kinda hard for either of us to get excited when somebody mentions the mainland..." Suddenly, something in Karen's eyes lit up, and instantly Bandit knew there was going to be trouble. "BlackJack, could you please excuse us for a minute?" Karen quickly grabed Bandits hand and dragged the fox into the kitchen.

"Lyle... Why don't you go? I mean, it could be just what you're waiting fo-"

"No." Bandit turned around and began to walk away, but Karen grabed his arm and turned him around.

"And why not?"

"You know why not."

"No," Karen whispered, slightly annoyed, "I THOUGHT I knew why, but it's becomming more and more obvious you're keepin' something else a secret."

"That's my buisness Karen.... I'm not going, and that's finnal." Bandit turned around and once again began to walk away.

"What if this is to help PC? You know he's sick. This could be a in and out trip to grab some stronger medicine for him. Would you really turn your back on the only person here other than I that welomed you with open arms? PC knew your dark past and he still asked if you wanted to live here!"

Bandit looked back at Karen, his eyes giving off sort of a violent gaze, as if what she said actualy offended him. He turned his head and headed for the door, as he took the handle he stoped and just stood there for a moment. "... You owe me for this one..."

***

Bandit walked out of the kitchen and jammed his hands into his tatered pants' pockets, and looked at Black Jack. "Okay... I'm in."

Erfahren "Fa" Bär

Erfahren grunted, and turned back to the boat. He glanced at the two and grunted again. "Mainland. Medicine."

He turned, and went off to gather supplies. The ship would need a good patching before it left in case of anything, and they'd need food and several other neccesities. The sail had to be mended, a thousand things tended to before they could ship out to the mainland.

He stopped. The Mainland...

He turned and started home to gather things long gathering dust but never forgotten.
