Ok, here we go again. Seeing I have taken the medication for years...it's not new information. It is and has been a listed side effect, since forever.

It can affect the heart rhythm for those that have a heart condition. It also seems as if this virus can affect the heart as well. So, that's an issue.

As you can tell from the responses following yours, this isn't about the drug or it's side effects. It's about finding a way to mock Trump and then flame everyone else who doesn't join in on their circle jerk.

Two anti-malaria medications highly touted by President Trump should not be taken outside a hospital or clinical trial because of the risk of severe heart problems, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned Friday.

The FDA said it issued the warning because of numerous reports about serious cardiac events and death in patients with COVID-19 receiving hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, either alone or combined with the antibiotic azithromycin.

"Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine can cause abnormal heart rhythms ... and a dangerously rapid heart rate called ventricular tachycardia," the agency said. "These risks may increase when these medicines are combined with other medicines ... including the antibiotic azithromycin."

Hmmmm, so by that logic the fact that those known risks were ignored by someone and they said itshould be taken outside a hospital or clinical trial would make that person an idjit.

The point being made is that it is a promising form of treatment and IS BEING USED with great successes in many countries. It was clear to me when I first heard Trump talking about it that he was trying to give people hope that promising treatment options were being looked at. Many doctors around the world agree.

But giving hope is a bad thing to the left because they want to exaggerate the problem and make it seem like the situation is hopeless and that somehow it is Trump's fault.

Geeze, I meant "the infected, the exposed to the virus".
Apparently some think that it's safe as a prophylaxis, in 'early stages', provided that the person is monitored closely +/- doesn't have cardiovascular risk factors.

But it's obviously more dangerous in many hospitalized (aka severe) patients, in which most iatrogenic deaths occurred. I guess they did it out of desperation, given that 90% of covid patients put on PP ventilation died anyway.
