Degrees: What are yours?

Even at a cursory glance about The Playground, one sees an advanced level of intellect, camaraderie and discourse. After "exhaustive" research, I did not exhume a similar thread to the one which I am about to suggest.

According to your level of comfort, tell us of your academic degrees and papers. This is essentially a poll.

Of course, some of the most brilliant minds in history had no degrees whatsoever. This thread is not intended as a means of boastfulness or judgment. The lack of a degree can also be most telling in terms of natural intellect and ability.

Is anyone similarly curious? If so, please share with us here.

Thanks!

Electrical Engineering with a minor in mathematics. I have some master's work in power and protection systems engineering, but I don't have a full masters.

I know what you are thinking. And yes, I practically have to beat the girls away. I can't walk down the street without having panties thrown at me.

Pmann knows how to make the panties drop :D

Bachelors in sociology and criminology with minor in African American studies, here. And my current field has nothing to do with my degrees

I have a diploma in corrections and a bachelor of arts degree with a major in philosophy and minors in criminology and psychology.

And yes, I have to beat prospective employers away with a stick. Everyone wants to employ a philosophy graduate  :D

I possess more undergrad hours than I care to mention. :). Which does not make me look smart, it just makes me look like I could never decide what I wanted to be when I grew up.

I did end up with a degree in education and then a masters also in education with an emphasis in reading.

I usually pick up a class usually each summer for movement on the salary scale and I'm amazed at how much college has changed from the time I started until now.

B.A. in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Information Systems. also was going to culinary school... which is now on the back burner. what i am doing currently also has little to do with my education.

Currently at uni studying for a Bsc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing
I have a Diploma in Health and Social Care at Triple Distinction Level

Nothing like 4 levels of calculus to really get a girl going. And some engineering skills to boot!

"Hey dirtywilf... Would you like to turn that potential energy into some kinetic energy?" That pickup line gets their knickers to the floor in no time.

Lol... That pickup line would probably drop my knickers to the floor.

It definitely beats the one I normally hear.

I have a totally useless BA in French with a minor in Travel and Tourism...yeah making the big bucks with that one!

Actually looking into getting my Masters in Linguistics in the near future.

BA in sociology, minor in psychology. Masters in Higher Ed Admin & 3 credentials (lower type of license in substance abse)

Thanks so much for your replies. I honestly did not know if this thread would tank or not, so I am appreciative of your posts. Please keep them coming!

Sometimes what we "do" has little to do with our educational background.

I like the sound of that. What you may think of as useless might be greatly envied by some. Best of luck with that Masters degree in linguistics!

Only four levels in Calc? Wimp ;) you know what you REALLY need is graduate level complex analysis. There is no better pickup line than "want to study the properies of the complex plane with me? We start with integration and check Cauchy's theorem..."

My major was not math though.

I have a Ph.D., an MS and BA.

I'm actually most proud of my U.S. Sailing certifications in small boat handling though. :p

No way mate. I could not handle all the girls you must get from complex analysis. No way.

For what it's worth, I do not need to prove anyone's theorems. I totally trust Newton, Pythagorus and the whole lot of them.

I know...it's burden I just have to bare...sigh...

LMAO...I trust no one, I reprove everything. Of course this may explain why I never get very far...

Actually, I was just reading a book on history of mathematical thought. It reproduces (translated, of course) some of the proofs of Euclids Elements. OMG that dude was smart...seriously...WOW...
